Rather, biding time until FF5 and FF6 Advance come out.
Anyway, I realized that as many times as I've played FF8, there are a few things I've never managed to do. I've never managed to get all the cards because of the difficulty of the QOC sidequest, and I don't think I've ever finished Obel Lake. For those of you that know, I have a few eensy-weensy questions to enjoy this time through to the max. 1. Is it true that Siren has to be at Level 100 to refine a Luck-J scroll? If so, how can I get her to this level quickly? 2. What exactly am I missing by not having the PocketStation? 3. Is there any good way to not spread the "Random" rule around? 4. Where can I find Elnoyles and Blitzes? 5. Where can I find the Boko, MiniMog, and Moomba GFs? I guess that's all for now. I'm trying to complete the QOC sidequest for the first time. I've tried before, but she won't take the MiniMog card she says she wants. Usually this is because the "Random" rule won't play it and/or some other rule makes it so that she can't have it even when she beats me. More questions as I go further. -------------------- You don't scare me, you talking blobs of oozing slop! I am impervious to pain! |

Oh gosh...I haven't played FFVIII in so long. Too long.
![]() I'll have to replay this. Maybe I'll do all that Card stuff, because I personally never bothered with it before. This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 4th September 2006 20:56 -------------------- |

i dont have answers for all your questions but i do have a few, here goes;
3. Is there any good way to not spread the "Random" rule around? A: yeah there is, when you are carrying rules from another region, you notice that people will say befor they ask for a game, something like "i see you are arrying trabia's rules, would you play a game?" what i do is keep saying no, after a while they will give up with the other rules and just say, "would you play a game" 4. Where can I find Elnoyles and Blitzes? Elnoyles can be fought in Esthar City, when Possible spoilers: highlight to view the moons monsters are in Esthar Blitzes can be fought on the rock by the catuar desert, you can get there with Balamb Garden Thats all i know but im also pretty sure that Siren doesn thave to be at level 100 so i'd would say no to this question -------------------- In the end, it boils down to two simple choices. Either you do or you don't. |

Siren does have to be at level 100 to refine the Dark Matter for Quistis to learn 'Shockwave Pulsar' (from like 100 Curse Spikes), but I dont'trecall anything else requiring her to be maxed out.

Quote (Asylum Outpatient @ 4th September 2006 20:39) 5. Where can I find the Boko, MiniMog, and Moomba GFs? I think Moomba is a item. It summons a moomba. And the rest, they have there cards, and Squenix put them in the GF Cards section, but infact they areNot GF's. Quote (Asylum Outpatient @ 4th September 2006 20:39) 3. Is there any good way to not spread the "Random" rule around? I can help with this - Spreading rules works as follows - If you play in an area (Balamb for example), and are asked to combine rules (say with Galbadia's), the following may happen - If the rule does not exist in Balamb, but does in Galbadia, that rule may be added to Balamb. If the rule exists in both Balamb and Galbadia, it may be abolished from Balamb. Knowing that, we can use it to not only stop the spread of Random, but begin to abolish it. Play in an area Random exists against a random player (one without powerful cards). Then move to another area with Random, accept combined rules, and hopefully Random will be abolished. If it is not, repeat. If playing in an area without Random, do not combine with the rules of an area that does. This will only serve to spread Random. Use this to abolish Random around the world. You may have noticed that it is impossible to abolish it worldwide, but you can reduce it to one area, and you can control and even change the area it exists in. If it only exists in an area you want to play in, spread it to somewhere else, then abolish it in the area where you wish to play. -------------------- I like stories! Just because I have a low post count does not mean I lack knowledge. |

I used Scott Ong's FF8 guide for Pocketstation information.
People have already pointed out the fixed Elmoyle encounter. For those stuck on Disc 4, Elmoyles can still be fought on the world map on the Esthar streets (a rare encounter though) or in the room where Omega Weapon is. For Blitz encounters, they seem to appear most frequently on the rocky area around Kashkabald Desert. Boko: Complete a Chocobo forest puzzle. After naming the Chicobo, use Gysahl Greens in battle to summon. Minimog: Requires Pocketstation to obtain Mog's Amulet. Use it to teach a GF the Minimog command. This is the only means of restoring GF's HP during battle. Moomba: Requires Pocketstation to obtain Friendship. Use it (Item command) to summon. Hmmm...I haven't played it FFVIII in too much time, too.
![]() 1)- Siren must be at LVL 100, but if you want to refine a Dark Matter ( from 100 curse spikes), so Quistis can learn her blue magic "Shockwave Pulsar". A good method of leveling up any GF is just junctioning one and only one to a character, so the experience gained by that character is the same for your GF. If you junction 2, 3 or more, the Experience is divided by 2, 3 or more respectively.I don't know anything about Luck-J scroll, sorry. 2)-Probably, you're missing Minimog and Moomba GF; and ChocoFlare and ChocoMeteor attacks while using Gysahl greens. And of course Boko's miniquest in the Pocketstation. 3)-I know a method but I haven't tried it. Just go play Triple Triad to a different region, then go back again to the region you want Ramdom rule abolished. When you play cards again, your opponent will say something like " Let's play with Trabia rules and ours" ( just an example). Well, after that game it can happen 3 things: a ) Nothing b ) A new rule is spreaded in that region c ) A rule is abolished from that region. And that is, if you are lucky enough to get a rule abolished of that region (like Ramdom), you got what you wanted. If not reset over and over... 4) Elnoyles can be found in Esthar ( inside the city), you must talk to a man dressed in black, who'll say "he he he" then the fight starts. You can fight it again and again. And Blitzes, I don't know either. ![]() 5) Without a Pocketstation you can't get them. And about getting all cards, you can have them all in CD4. You must find the Queens of Cards in a Southmost peninsula in Esthar continent. She'll play with Irvine, Phoenix, Doomtrain, Kiros, etc cards. I've never did the QOC sidequest. ![]() -------------------- "Its no cheating if you don't get caught" |
