I need help with breeding Chocobos, mainly just to get the Knights of the Round Materia. I have the strategy guide for FFVII and it does tell you how, but I can't follow it. It doesn't make sense.

1. How do you figure out if the Chocobo is Wonderful, Great, Fair, Poor, etc.?
2. How do you figure out if they're a guy or girl?
3. How do you get them to breed into a Gold or Black Chocobo????

I already have the nut that you need to breed them, and I've visited the Chocobo Sage and everything, but I still can't figure it out. Please help me.

Billy will tell you the gender of the chocobo as well as it's health status. when you go to move them into a pen.

Here's a hint for getting a green/blue chocobo

after you have gained a green/blue chocobo mate it with a yellow chocobo of the opposite gender, this will prevent you from gettnig a chocobo of the same color (well it's always worked for me.

and as for how to get a gold or black chocobo, just get the information out of the chocobo sage.

I'll start it from beginniing, go to mideel area, catch three or four chocobos there, they will be good or great, mate a male with a female with your carob nut [ stolen from vlakaldoros near bone village]

now you should have a green or blue chocobo, do some experimental breeding untiil you have a green and blue that are opposite genders, now feed them greens until they stop levelling up, now get them up to A Rank at the chocobo square in gold saucer,

breed them you should have a black chocobo, go to the Icicle Inn area and catch three or four chocobos with TWO jumping rabbit monsters beside it they will always be wonderful,

you should have at least one of the opposite gender of your black chocobo, feed them greens until they're maxed out, now get them up to S rank, breed them with a zeio nut [stolen from goblins on the northeast island in the forest] you have a gold chocobo [note: you may need the W-Item Materia beforehand]

While we're on this subject...

Is it possible to raise Stamina above 999? Or even Speed above 200 . I remember reading somewhere that one of the nuts can increase stats whilst keeping the Chocobo's colour. Never tried it.

One last question... Does a Gold Chocobo do the same as a Blue and Green chocobo? Like, can you still reach areas that only a Blue or Green chocobo can get to using a Gold Chocobo?

Every time I try to breed a Black Chocobo - Class S - Female, with a Wonderful Chocobo - Class S - Male, with a Zeio Nut, I keep getting another Black Chocobo! I thought I get a Gold Chocobo through this!!! Can anyone help?

keep trying, but maybe its the carob nut your meant to use? im not sure

no hes supposed to use a Zeio Nut, maybe try getting a Male s class Black chocobo and a Female S class wonderful?

When the guide says, get the two Chocobo to Class S, does it mean beat the Class S races as well, because I haven't raced any S races...

actually it doesnt have to be S class, i bred with Bs and As and i did fine, S just increases the probability of it
