Quote (Japanese version differences:) - BGMききたい code is fully functional; This cheat allows your to listen next to every songs in the game. (98 songs bank) - No :...l...i...t...t...l...e... ...m...o...n...e...y... - The loading screen: "now loading..." is blank. - Job requirements are higher in order to access new jobs. (It seems that pretty much every job has a +1 level requirement, except for the Squire and Chemist)jobs. example: Chemist lvl2 -> Black mage lvl3 -> Time mage lvl3 -> Summoner Squire lvl2 -> Knight lvl3 -> Monklvl4 -> Geomancer - Job levels are harder to get as they require more JP to advance. level 1: 0JP level 2: 200JP level 3: 400JP level 4: 700JP level 5: 1100JP level 6: 1600JP level 7: 2200JP level 8: 3000JP (US: 2100) - Some skills' JP price are either the same, slightly higher, or MUCH higher. A great example of this is the Fly skill which costs 5000JP. (US: 1200JP). - The genji set and the masamune are impossible to steal since Elmdor has Maintenance. - Wiegraf has 10 speed instead at the end of chapter 3. (US: 8 speed) - Bosses are harder (whether it's for unique spells, PA, MA or speed). - Very minor detail: The text is placed dirrently most of the time at the beginning or end of a chapter. You know, when you have a background and text gradually showing. (placed in the center of the screen most of the times) - The FMV that presents some jobs and monsters is much longer; the game will present jobs and monster in the following order: Squire, Chemist, Knight, Archer, Monk, Priest, Wizard, Timesorcerer (Time mage), Summoner, Thief, Elemental User (Geomancer), Dragon Knight (Dragoon), Samurai, Ninja, Chocobo, Goblin, Bomb,Ghoul, Ahriman and Dragon. - BUG: Meliadoul can use her fist to use her techniques resulting in armor/helmet breaking but 0 damage dealt. You need to remove her Defender in order to do so. - And... the game is in... JAPANESE!!! I received it today, and I'm really having a lot of fun with it. I stopped listening to psfs and started my psx along with the BGMききたい code and... Wow The game is also harder, has mini-games (haven't started propositions yet, nor got the scriptures) and has no translation at all! But I guess you figured out that one. BUT: The game is still too easy. Without any skills or training, I finished the first chapter one at level 4-5. Obviously, when I got Lavian, Rad and Alicia, they were stronger than my current generics! If you don't consider how easy the game is, it's a: perfect masterpiece. I got mine for $28, and I can say I could have paid much more than that in order to acquire this But probably not as much as an unsealed CT snes game. So, what about that game? This is a topic to talk about the Japanese version so feel free to ask any questions about it or post comments about it. Even though the only way to keep strategy involved is to try and stay as low as possible, I like getting Classes early so I end up using the endless battle trick. often end up level 35. absolute slaughter
Quote The game is also harde Harder, but still can finish without leveling up at all. Someday I hope we could download an FFT hardtype. i would like to hear more about the minigames. I've always liked good minigames. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Well, it's nothing you'd actually think of...
They are sound novels, and you go through an event only via text and background with some music (that is in the BGM of course) but never makes an apparition elsewhere in the game. Yeah, I would propably find it great if I knew japanese well Oh and another thing I noted, any generics has text when you press select on their name in the formation screen, unlike the US one which displays: "..." . Level? I noticed that the only important thing in the game is equipment... unless you are a monk, Armor will raise your HP/MP a ton not to mention bonus stats. Rad killed a summoner with Fire in one hit! (96 damage on a 92HP summoner) And he reached level 10. Since I'm not really going for skills, here's a tip: Equip Weapon Guard to your mages; Wizard rods got 20% WE and Priest staves got 15% WE, at the beggining, that's nothing to laugh at. Too easy, but that's a game I really love. ... I hate kanji -------------------- Sayonara |

There's a quote translation on Gamefaqs, and I think they have a translated script too...in case you are wondering about those quotes I mean.

I might as well check it out, but I doubt they're anything else than tips like Lavian/Rad/Alicia says.
I managed to find out more things: You can send Alicia, Lavian and Rad on propositions (IIRC we can't in the US version). The Job presentation FMV is MUCH longer, it includes almost every generic jobs and presents in the following order: Squire Chemist Knight Archer Monk Priest Wizard Timesorcerer Summoner Thief Elemental User Dragon Knight Samurai Ninja And some monsters: Chocobo Goblin Bomb Ghoul Ahriman Dragon All names are in english and fancy looking. The real japanese name is also specified but in plain white text. (yep, they think english is cool I can definitely say that it is much more representative of the number of jobs/skills that are in the game. And dammit, short charge costs 1000. -------------------- Sayonara |

Does the JP version have the JP Scroll Glitch?
-------------------- Currently playing: FFT (ePSXe style), Disgaea, SSBM, NFSU, CoD/CoD2 (PC), other random games. When this girl at the art museum asked me whom I liked better, Monet or Manet, I said, "I like mayonnaise." She just stared at me, so I said it again, louder. Then she left. I guess she went to try to find some mayonnaise for me. |

Quote (Zodiac @ 27th August 2006 10:20) You can send Alicia, Lavian and Rad on propositions (IIRC we can't in the US version). I've always been able to send them. Good thing too, because they often wind up being 3/4 of my generics. I can't see a one-person proposition ending well... -------------------- Wasabi Viniagrette: Mix 1/3 C rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 2 tsp powdered wasabi. Excellent over cold udon noodles and shiitake mushrooms for a Japanese pasta salad. |

Quote (mb9023 @ 28th August 2006 09:44) Does the JP version have the JP Scroll Glitch? Yes, and what can justify your question? The US version was released after so why wouldn't the bug be there? My battle with a lvl18 ramza (I got my 7 speed at level 19 I killed Velius on my first try thanks to Rad (landing 210 dam with wave first at level 19; NO BRACER), black mage (which took a complete Cyclops summon by herself), Agrias. I stole Meliadoul's Defender, and she wasl punching me with her techniques?!?!?!? Even if it was for 0 damage, breaking armor/helmet with 100% accuracy: I didn't like it at all. Can anyone confirm if this is in the US version also? This reminds me of the masamune bug with Elmdor but it's much different. I might to some test with the AI to see if I can get to use those techs without a sword; that would be really funny. -------------------- Sayonara |

Meliadoul definately doesn't punch with her techniques in the US version. I steal her Defender every time I play that beauty of a game, and never has she been able to use her skills without her sword. She resorts to normal, useless attacks. It also wouldn't make sense, because when you get her in your team later she can't use the skills without a sword.
In the US version, anyway. Maybe the cheap-ass sword skills don't actually require a sword in the Japanese version? That'd be kind'a weird, though... -------------------- "And then, when you're not looking, I'll use my evil assassin powers to jab you in the gut! Ha!" -Shinka |

Okay, that confirms what I wanted to know because I never tried so steal her Chantage/Defender in the US version; although I did this time, being underleved and underskilled, it was pretty hard, and none of my chars had Maintenance learned :S. I went in battle with all my physical characters naked.
They do require a sword, but even with the AI I wasn't able to make her use her moves without it. I thought about this because you can use defend with the AI while you are affected by "don't act" (even in the US version). Anyway, you can believe me, it was completely unexpected: breaking out my chemist's armor out of the blue! She prefers to use her 0 dam punching skills instead of just punching my chars for 40 damage. Elmdor has inherent maintenance: makes things faster as you can just kill him. Well I continue playing through, I hope Hashmalum is stronger than the pathetic fool he is in JP version. -------------------- Sayonara |
