What game machine was this game oringinaly played on?

According to what I know this game was only translated on Nintendo DS but I don't like the look of it because it's been made 3D.

Why wasn't this game translated and upgraded just a little like 1 and 2?

Edit
See what I did, my title rhymes laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif eh.gif

It was originally a NES game.

There were plans to remake it in the same manner as FF1 and FF2 for the Wonderswan Color, but the remake of FF3 was cancelled. The PSX and GBA rereleases of FF1 and FF2 have been based on the WSC releases rather than having been remade from scratch, so remaking it in the same style would've been more work than just taking the finished WSC games as a baseline - so given that it needed that extra effort, perhaps SE decided it'd be worthwhile remaking it in 3D rather than following the style of the others.

You can still probably find pictures of what might've been WSC FF3 on the Internet, and you can play an unofficial translation of the original on a NES emulator.

Thanks a lot, now there's a true FF guru. It's a shame, it would be great if they put in the effort to make one because all the other main series was remade for PSX.
But you never know eh? the future is unpredictable shifty.gif .

Are you suggesting that (you believe) there's a chance that they still will release a English version of FFIII on the PS1? No chance. The PS1 is out of date now. I think they'll leave all the ports and remakes after they finish this, and then go back to FFXIV or whatever comes next.

Although personally, a FFVII port for DS is what I'd like. But there's already a topic on that.

The PS1 is dead and buried; all of my local game stores have stopped taking trade-ins and have had sales to get rid of all the Madden 1994 they have.

On the flipside, that means no less than 6 Square titles are out of print in the US (I & II, IV and Chrono, V & VI, VII, VIII, and IX). They're all guaranteed money-makers, and Sony may need a little extra kick to pull through...so we may see the older games brought back, but not as a PS1 title. Possibly PSP or even a few of them packaged on one PS2 disc (no graphic upgrade, a few extras).

True, very True.

No store has had any PS games on stock since summer of 04, as for a remake of FFIII on another system, I highly doubt it, but it could happen.

Here's something that's a definite mystery to me, regarding FFIIIDS.

Have you seen the box art to the game? No? Here i'll give you a picture of it.

See the bottom left of the box? It says the game is WiFi enabled. What can you do with WiFi on the game? I'm really eager to know.

There's some sort of 'Mognet' thing going on which can unlock bonus stuff. (Dungeons, sidequests, etc...)

Apparently you can transmit messages to your friends via WiFi ("Mognet"). You can also build up a friends list; I think that's how the Iron Giant is unlocked.

Not true. The Blockbuster store worked at had several PSX games in stock. Mostly crappy ones and then the Final Fantasies but they still had them.

Yes I had to get mine off of Amazon (brand new) because places were deserted. But I bet there will be a few left on the shelves if you're lucky, mostly pre-owned though sad.gif .
As for FF3 yeah you're right the PSX has had it'd day. Hopefully I could play it on another console one day but unfortunatly I don't have a DS. Why would I want a DS when I've got a Gameboy SP and a PSP wacko.gif .

Because the DS has great games that you can't get on the GBA and PSP. Such as:

Animal Crossing: Wild World
Tetris DS
Final Fantasy III
Mario Kart DS
Advance Wars: Dual Strike

And a slew of others that I can't even think of at the moment. But I'm sure there are other people in this thread that can add more.

Only joking of course I want a DS mainly just to play FFIII.
I do hope they make a remake very similar to the original like Origins and Anthology. Thanks for your answers much appreciated.

Going a little off topic, is the plot and the battle system and anything else the same like the original?
