Hey I just want to know because actually when Final Fantasy 7 first came out and actually all the games I played My daddy played them fist! Well as my dad likes to do I'm sure othes do to. Do any of you actually change the name of your characters? My dad did in practically every Final Fantasy he got.

For example:

Cloud-OrionSix ( shrugs don't ask me these are my dads names)
Aeris- Ariel ( LOL I guess I made him watch the Little Mermaid too many times when it came out! )
Tifa- Tiffany ( go figure)
Barret- Magnum ( I don't know why!)
Cait Sith- He actually left that one the same!
Yuffie- Crystal (after my younger sister and the second time he left it the same)
Vincent- He left the same all the time too!
Cid- Major Tom ( Yeah my dad's era come on I actually like that one Down Control to Major Tom)

So do you have any names to share or are you the type who think's its a sin!

The first time through, I always keep the same names, but for comic effect, I name them:

Cloud: Bob
Barrett: Jim
Vincent: Billy-Bob
Red XIII: Cousin Cletus (or just Cletus, I can't remember the max character limit)
Cid: Cousin Clem
Aerith: Clementine
Tifa: Susanna
Yuffie: Sally

Hillbilly names rock. BTW, does anyone in the game ever say "Damnit, [another character]!" And if so, what character are they talking to? 'Cause you KNOW you gotta have a "DAMNIT, JIM!" somewhere in there.

The only one I rename is Red XIII, and that's simply to call him Nanaki. It's like how I rename Shadow "Clyde" and Frog "Glenn." Just give them their original names, you know?

Well, I typically always have them keep their original names, sometimes subbing out Red XIII for Nanaki but nothing else, really. The last playthrough I had was sort of a co-playthrough over the summer with my friend David and I, and we named each character after either ourselves or our friends. Well, actually David named them, but this is how it turned out:

Cloud: David
Tifa: Ashley
Barret: Heavy J
Aeris: Jenny
Red XIII: Nagamo
Yuffie: Lauren
Vincent: Alva
Cid: Mick

Wonderful Male: Achilles
Blue Male: Triton
Blue Female: Amphitrite
Green Female: Gaea

Black Female: Circe
Gold Male: Apollo
Gold Female: Artemis

Cloud - James. This is the one everyone wants to understand why I name the main characters "James". Well, you see, James is my proper first name. And I've always found it fun and nostalgic for me to put my first name for theirs, simply because I think it always fits for the person, and I like almost being able to imagine myself in their world.

Simple as that.

Cid - Cid.
Barret - Barret.
Red XIII - Red XIII.
Tifa - Tifa.
Vincent - Vincent.
Yuffie - Yuffie.

I named them in Japanese ( cuz' I have the japanese version), but the spirit is the same:( they all were in Katakanas...BTW)

Who is Byblos?

First time I played, there were some weird names, but cloud and barret were named after me and my brother, but cid ended up being called SWEET (i dont know why), and my chocobos were all named after wrestlers.
Another time i played, people were named stuff like fireplace and ice (i think).
Now, i stick to original names, it makes the game better.

one time i was tremendously bored so i gave them steriotypical aol-er names. i never got out of midgar on that file though

g=gold

i end up with names like fr1, mgr2, fb1.

my brother thinks i am a terrible person because chocobos are people to.

I cant believe you people don't use Yuffie, she is extremely strong, and very hardy, and her attacks are unreal.

Most of my characters names were inflenced by my uncle, who got me into FF7 and used to be a massive medievil geek.

Cloud- Carlos - Was engraved into a sword
Barret- Druss - Not a fricken clue...
Tifa- Alana - Some chick from some book my uncle read
Aeris- Tamora- Again, some random book chick
Red XIII- Hopper - A talking wolf from some random book
Cid - Perin - hmm... A friend of that talking wolf guy
Cait Sith - Lucky - Fortune teller?.. I guess...
Yuffie - Ninja - I was clueless for names at the time...
Vincent - Vincent - After an hour of deciding, i gave up...

Now since i restarted, i just keep then normal names. I just think its better that way, plus it saves the stress of thinking!
