Lets compair some people in FF6 to other FF.
One that stands out for me right now is General Leo, and Dark Knight Cecil. Shock and Dark are very similar. But personaly i think shock does much more damage. |

What are you talking about?? :\
No. Shock and Dark aren't similar at all. Dark reduces Cecil's HP to attack all enemies regardless of row position and dealing dark-elemental damage. While Shock just deals heavily powerful damage without consuming HP. Maybe it gets stronger through some condition, but I don't know ![]() |

Sabin (FF6) and Yang (FF4): They're both monks, and they both fight with claws. However, their personalities are not very similar. Sabin is relatively outgoing with a sense of humor; Yang is serious and disciplined.
Terra (FF6) and Rydia (FF4): They both have green hair and a natural aptitude for magic. Rydia has the ability to summon monsters; Terra is half Esper. Also, they both have connections to fire. Terra naturally learns fire spells, and it is rumored that she torched several imperial soldiers before the game started. Rydia's village was burned down in a fire, and she has to overcome her fear of fire in order to cast the spell. Cids (all Final Fantasy games): All Cid characters are skilled in the use or creation of machines; they are often involved in flight. Both FF6 Cid and FF4 Cid started out in the employ of the enemy, realized the evil of said enemy, and switched to your party's side. Both Cid characters are regarded as geniuses in their respective fields, and they are always at the forefront of technological innovation. General Leo (FF6) and Rubicante (FF4): This may seem like an odd comparison, since their abilities are totally different, and Rubicante is not even human. However, both characters are "noble villains." Leo is regarded by the rank and file as a fair and honorable leader, totally unlike Kefka. When you actually meet Leo, he lives up to his reputation as "the consummate soldier." Rubicante is the one villain that consistently fights fair. Before both battles, he fully restores your HP. When you defeat Rubicante, he is magnanimous in defeat and admires the ability of "weak people to join forces." Even when Edge attacks Rubicante, he doesn't kill Edge; rather, he compliments Edge's abilities and looks forward to their next meeting. Cyan (FF6) and Tellah (FF4): Both characters must learn to cope with the guilt and anger they feel over the deaths of their offspring. (Cyan also loses his wife.) Cyan's guilt nearly causes his death at the hands of Wrexsoul; Tellah only realizes the folly of his thirst for vengeance after it is too late. Celes (FF6) and Cecil (FF4): Both characters once worked for an evil power and then "turned traitor." They both experience distrust from others due to their previous alliance. (Celes seems to have a harder time in this area: Cyan initially distrusts her, and Locke later has doubts about her loyalty.) However, their roles in the party are different. Cecil is the lead character who undergoes a quest for redemption; he is the party's rock. Celes is a strong character in her own right, but she is certainly not the lead. Her role seems to be more romantic. -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... Noble is the heart of man... |

Well, Leo and Beatrix are both generals, and similar for obvious reasons. Though Beatrix would probably be more similar to Cecil. -------------------- |

Well, I think Steiner (from FFIX) and Cecil (from FFIV) are alike because they both use swords, are knights, and are soldiers that are loyal to their King/Queen until things get out of hand so they join the resistence.
I also think that Terra (from FFVI) and Vivi (from FFIX) are the alike because they are both magic users, are uneke, and both have a strange and mysterious past that they learn about as the story progresses. I probably will think of more later, but nothing else comes to mind. -------------------- Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Chrsit for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost Acts 4:12 Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost |

Tellah (FFVI) and Cid (FFVII), since they were the largest trash-talkin', free-voiced characters in the entire series. No other character i believe got to swear and throw around sexual words like they @#$% did!

Edgar and Edge
Flirtatious, useful in battle, descendants of royalty, both have capes. And is it just me or do they have the same hairdo? ![]() -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Yeah, but Edge is missing the ponytail. Edge, Edgar, Irvine, and Zidane all fit into the 'skirt-chasing' archetype. Of course, Edge and Edgar are both royalty, unlike the other ladies' men.

You forgot Desh from FF3, he was a skirt chaser and descendant of royalty to (although he started off with an amnesia), so he fits in.
And as for comparing FF6 with other parts, it's plot base is very similiar to FF2 - with an empire reaching for an ancient power to conquer the world - and as FF2 also has a StarWars feeling about it from time to time (or is it just me?) -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Eh, well it isn't like he had that much personality, but I suppose you could add him in.
![]() Yes, the evil empire/electric power company/organized religion with some alterior motive is common in almost all the FFs. -------------------- |

Quote (Lothar Goldfist @ 28th July 2006 11:33) Final Kefka (FFVI) and Final Sephiroth (FFVII) Although Kefka and Sephiroth are easily the most similar of any FF villains to date, including their final appearances, Square does have some thing with angels, almost all of their final bosses after that looked like angels. (Ultima, Ultimecia, Necron, Seymour Omnis, etc.) -------------------- |
