Heh, that's a funny last post before this thread went dormant, Kai9d9. Are you seriously
telling me that of all the CoNmyn out there, on a game where the average play time is at 70-80hours and most devotees have over 200hrs in, that only CloudStrife510, Laszlow, Nytecrawla, Magicite, and myself individualized their final parties, with specific reasoning and/or character stories? -------------------- Putting the A's in W lm rt: A11smart, Jobclass: Retailer. |

I had people, based on my favorite things, too...
![]() Ramza was Ramza, I had to have him. Tatsu was a Ninja, and I had him either with the infinte jump, or fly. The Infinte Jump looked hell-la cool, but the flying was awesome, because it looked like he run so fast that he floated in the freaking air... I had a black chocobo, named Ultima, because I couldn't think of a name at the time. Tatsu's finisher move was to throw books at poor, unexpecting bastards, and jump on his chocobo and flying away...though the battle was still going on... His partner was a Theif, Kyosho, who was a part-time bard, and whose songs gave Tatsu the inspiration to fight on. Tatsu's love interest was a samurai named Hitomi, who used a girl, and was "hot because she couold kick his ass." In the middle of battle, she shot Tatsu multiple times for "ruining her chances to die honorablely. I had a whole story line, that I could probably made into a fanfic, but am to lazy to write, but I have so many more characters that were based on Jobs I wanted at the time... I think I may replay this some time soon. ![]() Edit Uhhh...I meant that Hitomi used a gun...not a girl... ![]() This post has been edited by Tatsubei Yagyu on 25th July 2006 02:48 -------------------- "Kiros, the second black guy in all of Final Fantasy...unless ofcourse, you count the Black Mages...heh..." ~Me |

That's what I'm talking about, Tatsubei! Kickass!
One of my favourite characters, influenced by another one of my favourite series, is Anondrymous, or 'nameless guy'. He's a Thief with Knightly break abilities, with EquipGun and SpeedSave, and Move-Find_Item. He calls GTA: IvaliceCity his home. However, I have to admit I didn't really make him when GTAIII came out, but rather GTA: ViceCity (after I became disenchanted with the main character and longed for the nameless, ruthless fun of LibertyCity). While I generally love to make anime characters, I felt a Rockstar homage was totally necessary. I wonder what Crono would have been like? TimeMage with Samurai abilities? And Teleport, with TwoSwords and WeaponGuard, and a LightningRod and Katana! Ha! -------------------- Putting the A's in W lm rt: A11smart, Jobclass: Retailer. |

What about Rosa as a Priest with Time Magic and Equip Crossbow? Then she has access to things like Haste, Float, Slow, etc.

Magicite: sw33t! In fact, seeing your FFIV cast, I wonder what it would be like to
simultaneously replay FFV and FFT again, intermixing gametime between the two. Right now, I can't stop leveling down Rhamsza one more cycle, for he steps on the threshold of divine feats! -------------------- Putting the A's in W lm rt: A11smart, Jobclass: Retailer. |

This FAQ lists ways you could set up an FFT team with all kinds of themes for:
Final Fantasy IV Final Fantasy VI Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VIII Final Fantasy IX Chrono Trigger Saga Frontier Xenogears Suikoden Suikoden II Vandal Hearts Breath of Fire III Breath of Fire III Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete Lunar II: Eternal Blue Complete Star Ocean II: Second Story Shining Force II Wild Arms Ronin Warriors: Dark Warlords X-Men Here's the link to see how to set up each of these themed teams. Kudos to you, Magicite, for your take on an FFT/FFIV team. I think I like your setups better, because they seem more "accurate". ![]() This post has been edited by Hamedo on 26th July 2006 20:30 -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

Hamedo, that link you posted has pretty good information about the characters and classes, but it doesn't seem to make any attempt at making an authentic set-up of parties from other games. I also have set-ups for the remaining FF4 cast if anyone wants them.
Some games, such as FF7 and Breath of Fire, can't really have theme parties in Final Fantasy Tactics, since the classes do not cross over. (FF7 doesn't have classes at all, and the abilities in the Breath of Fire series are totally foreign.) Quote (Fuzzypickles @ 25th July 2006 16:34) What about Rosa as a Priest with Time Magic and Equip Crossbow? Then she has access to things like Haste, Float, Slow, etc. That would give Rosa access to a few additional spells that she has in FF4, but it would greatly reduce the effectiveness of her archery. (In FF4, Rosa is the best archer.) She also loses the ability to equip a longbow. Not only does this reduce her range, but it is less consistent with FF4. In FF4, all of the bows were depicted as regular bows, not crossbows. (Even the "CrossBow" item looked like a bow.) Here's an update to my Terror Squad
Tundra Black Mage/ Ninja Throw/ Koga Knife Black Magic/ Spell Edge Speed Save/ Thief Hat Magic Attack UP/ Black Costume Move Gain HP/ Dracula Mantle Tundra is my mage specialist. He only uses Ice based spells and attacks (He throws Ice Rods, Water Balls, etc.) He is used in story battles only and can be very valuable. The reason I limit him is well, because I can. It makes it interesting. He has mastered all classes, and maybe he'll be changing jobs soon, bu for now, he's my attack mage par excellance. Yes actually...I've also specified defensive mages, support mages etc...
Cherish Oracle/ Geomancer Yin Yang/ Poison Bow Elemental/ ------ A Save/ Ribbon Equip Crossbow/ Secret Clothes Move + 2/ Cursed Ring She was my status changer. She only cast Don't move/act, Silence, Darkness, etc. Her story is the reason for the curse ring, she will always be undead. Anyway, she is a lot of fun to use and the elemental skill is a great supplemental ability to cause status changes wihout MP use! I have also created Lightning users, Poison/ Time...I love limiting my mages, and toeing the line between victory and ruin. Y'know, Nytecrawla, that's a pretty cool idea specializing your mages like that. I think I tried it once with a Samurai/Summoner Combo chick named Joanna. She had nearly every summon and master Samurai. I think all I was trying to do was create a character with massive strength and decent range of attacks. I'm not sure I ever tested it though. How well do you think it would work? Let me know how you think it would.

Let me know how you think it would. Well, as you know, Summons require a lot of MP and have long CTs. Yet the Samurai's equipment does not provide much of an MP bonus. I think that she could be a pretty well-balanced warrior as long as you gave her Short Charge as a Support Ability. You might also give her Absorb Used MP as a Reaction Ability. -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... Noble is the heart of man... |

I guess that makes sense, Magicite. Thanks for clearing that up. But getting back on the the subject, do you think there's any other way to mak a Samurai/Summoner combo work?

Quote (MagitekDragon317 @ 6th August 2006 10:27) But getting back on the the subject, do you think there's any other way to mak a Samurai/Summoner combo work? SET-UPS Job: Samurai Secondary: Summon Reaction: Blade Grasp or Absorb Used MP Support: Short Charge or Half MP Movement: Move +3 or Move +2 Which Reaction and Support abilities to use depends on whether you want this character to be primarily physical or magical. You will definitely want to use a Samurai with Summon as a secondary ability. Samurai equip much stronger weapons and armor and have better base evasion. Having a Summoner with Draw Out is not as practical, since she can never equip katanas. (There is no Equip Katana ability.) The problem is that it will usually be more practical to use the Draw Out skills than Summon, even though both are ranged attacks that strike multiple panels. The Draw Out skills are instant and don't require any MP. The only downside is that they require spare katanas to use, which may not be readily available until late in the game. The Summon skills don't require items, and they don't strike indiscriminately. (Only enemies will be damaged by offensive summons, and only allies will be helped by support summons.) The main problem with Summons is that they have long CTs and require a lot of MP. If you don't mind the long CTs, try the Half MP ability. However, I think that Short Charge is a better strategy. Most battles don't last long enough for a Summoner to use more than one or two Summons, and therefore, your MP pool isn't as much of a priority as your CTs. Even if your MP runs out, you can use Draw Out or Attack. -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... Noble is the heart of man... |

I have a 5 person team with a D&D slant to it. I tried to build it around a standerd/classic D&D party set-up. I use all Generic characters except for Ramza, as I put a lot of work into him. Names shortened in game where needed.
Eric - Knight (Ramza) Primary - Battle Skill Secondary - Gutz Reaction - Hamedo Support - Concentrate Movement - Move +3 My "meat & potatoes" unit, Eric is the unit that heads strait into the fight while the other units get into possition. I named him after myself if you hadn't guessed. Rebecca - Cleric Primary - White Magic Secondary - Yin Yang Magic Reaction - Blade Grasp Support - Short Change Movement - Teleport Rebecca is the primary healer obviously, but also maintains an offencive bite with Holy and her Yin Yang Magic for times when healing is not a priority. She is usually the unit closest to Eric on the field. She was named after my now wife Becki. Kevin - Rouge Primary - Steal Secondary - Talk Skill Reaction - Weapon Guard Support - Two Swords Movement - Move +3 Kevin is a DD-unit that has the ability to switch gears to a support unit. He is named for my longtime bestfriend, a real-life "rouge". Douglas - Mage Primary - Black Magic Secondary - Time Magic Reaction - Blade Grasp Support - Short Change Movement - Teleport Find a quiet corner and let the mana fly, is the basic function of this unit. Like Kevin he can switch to a support unit if his magic is for some reason not useful in the battle. He is named for my brother Doug, aka Wizard on MySpace and Gaia Online. Keeton - Minstrel Primary - Sing Secondary - Item Reaction - Sunken State Support - Throw Item Movement - Move +3 Pure support, he stays close to Douglas to maintain his Either habit. Named for a friend in Michigain who acts alot like Edward from FFIV. I've been working on a new team since before I last posted. I'm bored at the moment so I'll post it now. It is a Far East themed team, formed in honor of my religion of Buddhism. Like before I use all Generic characters except for Ramza.
Sar - Samurai of Legend (Ramza) Primary - Draw Out Secondary - Punch Art Reaction - Hamedo Support - Two Hands Movement - Move +3 P - Chirijiraden S - H - Grand Helmet B - Maximillian A - Red Shoes Sar is what I think of when I think "Mythic Samuria of Legend". With the power of the SAM and MNK combined he is very strong, while Hamedo gives him that "first strike" thing that Samurai's seem to be famous for, Two Hands gives him that defient stance that is also classic warrior of the east. All in all with a movement of 7, the power to all but strike from anywhere, and the ability to heal himself and raise the dead in a limited way, Sar has no equal. Hanako - Holy Priestess Primary - Summon Secondary - White Magic Reaction - Blade Grasp Support - Short Change Movement - Teleport P - Sage Staff S - H - Ribbon B - Robe of Lords A - Chantage Hanako is the standard "holy anime maiden". She is quiet, kind, sweet, and has the ability to summon great and fearful beast, not to mention the playing with the holy. She is a very long lasting character, with Regen, Reraise, Shell, Protect and the Ribbon. Kenji - Shinobi Primary - Throw Secondary - Elemental Reaction - Weapon Guard Support - Concentrate Movement - Move +3 P - Iga Knife S - Sasuke Knife H - Thief Hat B - Secret Clothes A - N-Kai Armlet Kenji is the shadow, the darkness, he is DEATH. No really, he moves to his place on the field and strikes out, with either his mighty blades/stars or the might of the earth which he controls with a trained and shadowy mind, scary no? Nobu - Sage Primary - Yin Yang Magic Secondary - Black Magic Reaction - Blade Grasp Support - Short Change Movement - Teleport P - Faith Rod S - H - Golden Hairpin B - Black Robe A - 108 Gems A great Sage that can twist mana to his will, Nobu is the crazy mage character. With his catalog of spells, Short Charge, his Black Robe, and his 108 Beads, he is deadly. Qui Chan - Diplomat of the Mainland Primary - Talk Skill Secondary - Battle Skill Reaction - Dragon Spirit Support - Concentrate Movement - Fly P - Blast Gun S - H - Thief Hat B - Power Sleeve A - Feather Boots Qui Chan is the standard "messenger from afar" that always seems to find their way into the problems of others. Both wise and powerful, Qui is a go anywhere, do anything unit.
