Can't remember the Japanese name, so meh. What were your opinions of this anime?

Easily the best intro music I've ever heard in an anime ever (and don't you folks even attempt to defend Cowboy Bebop! Once you get past the novelty, it's just half assed jazz). That alone peeked my interest, but the show itself is a real piece of work. It's really good, but I can't really pinpoint how other than to say it's smart, which I haven't seen lately, anime or otherwise.

Interesting. Very interesting. I can't say I love it, so much as it owns my soul. Seriously. If I see it on, I must watch it. But it is good. It makes you think, unlike most anime shows, and you don't automatically know exactly what's going on in it. I tried to get my dad to watch it one night, and he thought I was on drugs or something

Quote (Narratorway @ 30th June 2006 15:35) (and don't you folks even attempt to defend Cowboy Bebop! Once you get past the novelty, it's just half assed jazz). well, you guessed right this time and actually said something smart. anyway, paranoia agent was a pretty good show for like 10 or 11 or the 13 episodes. the concept was excellent and forced the viewer to think, and although there were some really weird and stupid character inclusions, the story was coming along very nicely. then the writers got coked up and wrote the last 2 or 3 episodes in an hour straight, and not only was meaningful resolution absent, but artistic sense -- in the writing -- was completely thrown out the window with it. someone should make a thread about monster. now that's a good fairly recent anime. |

I love how it makes you think, as Rhea pointed out. I need to see them all, but it's probably one of my top 10 animes. And the intro song it sweet, even though I was like "What the HELL" when I 1st saw it.

I'm in agreement with most of the people here. The concept is awesome, and it starts rather well, but takes a few too many bizarre turns at the end and doesn't really end satisfyingly. I really enjoyed some of the early episodes though, especially the ones about the hooker with MPD and the kid named Shinichi.
The intro song is indeed crazy-awesome. -------------------- |

What worked for me was this impending sense of creepy suspense they could pack into an
episode. Whether by colour pallete, character writing, or just background noises, there was always a stranger edge to watching it that I wouldn't find in say, Hellsing or Pokemon. With its return to the AdultSwim line-up, I've been catching them again. And 01:30a is an unsettling time to be getting that creeped-out feeling. -------------------- Putting the A's in W lm rt: A11smart, Jobclass: Retailer. |
