ff8s is pretty damn tight. i LOVED ffx2s intro. it looks really crisp, the visuals are nearly perfect. for me, its a tie between ff8 and ffx2

I really liked the intro to FFX. I can't compare it to 8 though, cause I never played it.

FFVIII hands down! Easily the best intro of any Final Fantasy game.

FFX for me. It was the first game I'd played with FMV sequences of that high a caliber. Beautifully done.

VIII hands down, X for me was cool at the time i played it, but then as i found out how (i apologize to tidus fans in advance) Tidus is a complete wuss who cries too much and can't swing a sword for his life, all i could see after i beat the game was.....you pathetic wuss.
the blitzball was ok and the music was great though. And (apologizing to Auron fans) Auron is probably the singlemost over-rated FF character I have ever seen.... Also FF II on Final Fantasy Origins was pretty cool too, those dark knights are bad@$$ ![]() -------------------- Aujourdhui a commence avec toi. |

FFT actually has a good intro as well. While not as visually stunning, it sets itself up nicely.
FFVIII and FFX do have good intros though |

Once again, Final Fantasy V.
The music and the "movie" just...set the stage perfectly for the game. FFTA gets honorable mention for having a nice bunch of graphics that indicate both quality and thoughtful work. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I'm suprised more people didn't mentioned IX. I guess the lack of drama makes it less memorable, but it was beautiful and very well done indeed. It shows the type of world it is set in very well.
VIII was of course easily one of the best as well, we all know it. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

None of them really astound me when it comes to graphical or storytelling, come to think of it. I find myself more impressed by C&C Generals: Zero Hour's "Intro" of sorts, and Dawn of War's intro. However, in terms of setting you up for what's ahead, FF8's intro rather wins, because it's a long and boring load of crap full of half baked symbolism and devoid of intellegent life, much like Edinburgh on a saturday night.
But the best introduction sequence is probably that of Final Fantasy 6 purely because it's the best of a lacklusture bunch. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

I really like VI, it tells you whats going on and really makes you feel like you're playing more than just a game, sure it's only 16-bit but i love it anyway.
VIII was good but i like VI better. Final Fantasy IV. It was the first I ever saw, and the music amazed me, as did the warfare state as supposed to something personal like we see in later games. -CSM

I actually enjoyed the PSX intro for VI, it was an absolute wonder at the time, to me anyway.
I also enjoyed IX and Tactics(which I still watch everytime I start a new game, at least once a month) -------------------- This is a webcomic and gaming blog where I rant about nonsense. Enjoy. I was a soldier, now I just play one in video games. |

FFX-2 had a great intro if you could ignore the fact that the beautiful graphics depicted a ridiculously stupid scene.
Personally, I like FFX's intro the best. The Zanarkand musical theme and the scenery really created the atmosphere. FFVII also had a pretty good opening sequence. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

FFVIII introduction wins, hands down. I originally thought the topic meant the preloader that games have when you don't press the start button. In that case, FFVIII wins even more. I just loooove the song and the still images never seen ingame. Heck, I can't remember actually seeing the end to that slideshow, it just kept going and going. I can barely remember if FFVII had one or not, and FFIX and FFX had awful pre-menu intros.
