I was curious as to what everybody thinks is the best way to increase visitors to a website. Any suggestions are welcome.

content and downloads. I had a lot of hits on my old site because I had uploaded this cool anime music video of SD Record of Lodoss War set to the Knights of the Round Table song from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Make like a Sephiroth website or something every geek loves. Porn tactic with Sephiroth = OMFG I HAVE TO GO THERE Not what u think. It will say it has porn, it will say it has Sephiroth but really it has what you want. Why? Do you want to use one of CoN's links, cus you need high views. Good content, good graphics. That's a start.

I wouldn't suggest YSB and DK's ideas. They'll get you a huge upshoot at first, sure, but no one will come back, mad at the false advertising.
