Oh gosh, I had completely forgotten about my most frustrating boss encounter ever: Orphan from FFXIII. I still cannot beat him (currently 0 for 34). I finally ragequit at the end of this summer, though, and I don't know if I'll ever go about trying to beat it again.

My biggest problem is the 'dark' half. It inflicts a status that prevents any of my characters from doing anything, thus allowing it to simply continue attack until they are all dead. I haven't found any way to stop it. That's probably led to about 80% of my deaths.

The other 20% of my deaths come from the instant death attacks in the last stage of the battle. Some of these were caused by one character dying and me not being able to recover (though most of the time I was able to recover from this). More often, however, they were the result of my party leader dying, despite being equipped with three Cherub Crowns.

Once I got Orphan down to about 1/5th of its health. And then I was immediately squashed by an instant death. And then I began to cry.
