So im replaying ff7 again, and i ran into a problem.

I'm currently on disc 2 and as i run down to try open the door where he sleeps nothing happens, i run back up from the basement back to the 2nd floor and find the safe box. And there i press the following code found on various ff7 sites.

Right Direction 36, Left Direction 10, Right Direction 59, Right Direction 97, and i get FAIL.

And i recall there is a key here that i need to enter the door at the basement where he sleeps..

Anyway, am i doing something wrong?

If you go over the number, even once, it will fail. Are you going exactly to that number and then to the next one, without going over?

Yeah do what Zeromus_X said and confirm when you hit the specific number. So Right 36 confirm, Left 10 confirm etc.
And yes you do need the safe key to get Vincent. Why didn't you do this on Disc 1?

Hmm that probably has to be it cause i remember i have never once actually landed on the correct number, duh stupid me. The reason i never got him at the first place (same with yuffie) is that i didnt really wanna bother with it cause i already had my party setup ready for when i started the game, Cloud, Tifa, Cid. But after a while i noticed when they had these character meeting scenes it alittle empty <.<.
