Don't like those characters with angst. Locke, Cloud, Sephiroth, etc. etc.

Or Don Corneo.

Tidus. Whiny-hero attitude easily makes him the most irritating of the playable characters.

I would go as far as saying he makes FFX unplayable. I just... cannot stand the... moron.

Don Corneo, Headmaster Cid Kramer from FFVIII, Heidegger, Scarlett, and Palmer get the nod as the most annoying characters in FF.
The Theif from FF1 I'd pick as the most annoying character battle-wise and as a character in a story Gau kinda' pissed me off. I wanted to slap the little bunghole after the whole "Mr. Thou" crap, but he is pretty cool in battle.

FFIV - Edward, for obvious reasons.
FFV - All of them. The characters, like everything else in this miserable game, sucked mightily.
FFVI - Locke. Never liked him, though it's moved from an active derision to a cold disinterest over time.
FFVII - Aeris. Annoying, annoying, annoying. At least she had the decency to die.
FFVIII - Irvine. Little to no personality, and what characterization he had made him out to be a cowardly idiot at best.
FFIX - Steiner. Probably the single most irritating knight type character to ever come out of the series. Looked stupid, too.
FFX - Kimahri. Served little to no function in the game's plot whatsoever. On top of that, his Overdrive was terrible.
FFT - Rafa/Malak. Self-explanatory.

Final Fantasy 2:
PCs - Leon and Guy.
--I really didn't like Leon. He disappears at the beginning of the game, and right near the end you find out OMG HE'S YOUR ENEMY!!!1!!1!1!! By the time you get him, he's next-to useless, and only any good if you spend time boosting his stats.

--Guy's character annoyed me. He was good in fights (his HP made him my meatshield for a while), but he talked like a three year old. Little things about him just really got on my nerves.

NPCs - Hilda.
--Hilda just came across as a very angsty, very whiny person. She probably isn't, that's just how I saw her.

Final Fantasy 4:
PCs - Tellah, the twins, Cid and Rydia.
--Tellah was good at the start. He had a higher magic stat than Rydia at the time, so he could deal better damage and he had more spells. But he left your team too freakin' often. You'd have him with the best stuff you could give him, only to have him say "Whoops, I'm off again!" and leave you, taking all that cool stuff with him. If you don't like me, at least give me back my stuff! Argh! pinch.gif

--The Twins. I only ever used their Twin ability, or the curing. But what happened when one of them's knocked out during their preparation phase? The other doesn't stop, and tries to cast the magic. They fail, wasting two or three precious turns. They always died when I needed them.

--Cid just struck me as a really irritating character. That's it, though. He's not as bad as the others.

--Until you get her back, that is. When you first get Rydia, you have to go out of your way to train her, just so that she survives longer than two rounds against a boss. Or a random encounter. Unlike Rosa, she was crap with a bow, missing 90% of the time. She couldn't use staves either.

NPCs - None, really.

FF5 -
PCs - Galuf
--I did not like Galuf. I don't know why, really. He just annoyed me for no apparent reason.

NPCs - The frogs, Odin, the gargoyles--Those blasted frogs! They're everywhere! GET RID OF THE BLOODY THINGS!

--Odin just had to absorb holy, didn't he? I went in to fight him, but all of my characters were armed with holy weapons. I hadn't saved for ages, either. ¬_¬

--Gargoyles were everywhere. Nuff said.

FF6 -
PCs - Relm, Umaro, Strago
--I just never used Relm or Strago. They were plot-points, as far as I'm concerned. They didn't have any brilliant skills or unique traits (unless you count being annoying). I got them, used them when I had to, and then stuck them in the airship for the rest of the game.

--Umaro was another filler-character. He has no relevence to the plot of any kind, and he's a beserker. If you could control him in battle, he'd be alright. But you can't.

NPCs - None.

FF7 -
PCs - Barret, Red
--Barret's speech was really annoying. He was trying to be some tough gangsta-character, but he couldn't pull it off, what with the saving of the planet and stuff. I didn't like his Limit Breaks, and I usually ignored him. He was really thick, too.

--Whereas Barret's thick, Red's too smart. He picked up on little things that no one cared about and looked into things too deeply, like his XIII tatoo. He was alright, but he's still really annoying.

NPCs - None hugely.

FF8 -
PCs - Quistis
--Quistis was just too 'in to' her job. She got demoted, took it really badly and went to Squall(!!!) for advice. Being his instructor, she should have known that Squall wouldn't have said anything useful, but did that stop her? She has more moments like that, little moments where she does really stupid things, which ruin her character.

NPCs - The villain/s.
--WHO THE HECK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO HATE?! Seriously, the villain jumps about so much... First its Seifer, then Edea, then the Garden Master, then Seifer AND Edea, then Ultimecia, then Rinoa, then Seifer and Adel, then Ultimecia again, and then quite possible Rinoa depending on what you believe. There was no set villain throughout the game, and this both confused and annoyed me to no end.

FF9 -
PCs - Eiko
--In battle, Eiko was alright. Out of battle, she's the most annoying 5-year old ever. She's really nosy, really bossy and thinks she rules the world. On top of that, she fancies someone 10 years older than her. Doesn't she know that it's AGAINST THE LAW for him to be dating her? Hmm?

NPCs - That woman in the Treno Weapon Shop
--You go into the shop, see the monster, ask what its doing there and ask to battle it. You're set to go, and she says "Are you sure you want to battle it? I can't gurrante your safety?" OF COURSE I'M SURE! I asked to battle it, didn't I? I set my character perfectly, didn't I? I'm gonna kick its ass, aren't I? So stop asking me, god dammit! Geez!

FF10 -
PCs - Tidus, Lulu
--Tidus was a whiny git. He was all obsessed about Zanarkand and getting back and stuff. Even right at the end, he doesn't understand that HE ISN'T GOING BACK! Besides, why go back? He's got Yuna, hasn't he? He's really powerful, isn't he? What does he have back in Zanarkand that he doesn't have here? Hmm?

--Lulu was an alright character. But if you give Yuna some Black Magic, Lulu becomes obsolete. My Lulu, now, is my weakest character and she does absolutely nothing in battles.

NPCs- Yu Yevon, Lady Yunalesca
--Where in hell's name did this one come from? Does he have any relevence to the plot? He's a hyped up midget who can possess aeons, big whoop. He seems to pop out of nowhere. So where did he come from, eh?

--ARGH! I HATE HER! Hardest battle EVER. Took me at least four tries, and I had to watch the same cutscene over... and over... and over again! All because she can inflict stupid Zombie status. Why did she have so much HP anyway? >_>

FF10-2 -
PCs - None

NPCs - Brother
--What is his deal? Clearly, Yuna's not interested in him, so he should just get over it. And does he have some sort of mental disorder? Is that why he spews all this crap half the time? What does he do on the Celsius, anyway?

FFTA -
PCs - None.

NPCs - Mewt
--Eh? He's an alright character up until the end when he goes through some amazing change in the space of, what, 5 minutes? Marche's change is believable - you see him changing throught the game. Mewt just goes "Oh, I see, I've been doing wrong all this time, better change now" and there you have it. At least make it believable, dammit!

Aeris, a bit useless and in FFVII, worst outfit if anything i couldnt stand it, at least Cloud's purple pajamas were funny enough to make me forget it.

Wow, I might not think Aeris was that bad, but SuperMoogle's take was just too good. For
me, it clearly goes to the worst Cid ever: Headmaster Cid in VIII. 'My wife's clearly going to
be a serious problem later---I'll make sure I control the fate of the world by keeping her future
targets right where she'll know where to find them, with me. Oh, and where's my lamp-o-death?
I need to give that to whiny emo shiny kid, Squall. He's hard to find, so I'll just have the head
of my disciplinary committee, that lunatic Seifer, find him for me. Ah, Seifer: no doubt your
constant failing of the SeeD exam will be turned into nothing but good chakra by being in
charge of interschool discipline. In my next life, I think I'll research ways to stop Phantoms in
Spirits Within.'

Geez...

You all complain to much... thumbdown.gif

Pretty much none of the characters in Final Fantasy annoyed me. thumbup.gif

Only monsters... shifty.gif

Ultima Weapon-chasinghim down the planet was kinda fun...but not for long.

Ruby Weapon-when I first saw him in the desert, I thought it was an old man stuck in the sand...then I fly at in an-BAM!!!!! Large monster to kill me.

Emerald Weapon-the worst, the bastard traumatized me from going underwater... it was a long time ago!!! I just when under, and turned around, an-BAM!!! There he was, swimming towards me!!! All I wanted was to find the sunken airplane...'

Then later, you had to go back for the Ancient Key...I stopped playing for a longggg time... sad.gif

I kind of find Brother in X-2 rather sickening as well...Imean if Rikku and Yuna are cousins...and Brother is well, Rikku's brother, why is he hittin on his cousin? It's just sick.

Yes yes yes. I hate Brother... and yeah... he would be a freak trying to hit on his cousin.

I've changed my mind, Brother wins as the most irratating FF Character. All that pointless shouting and actions. thumbdown.gif

Here are some of mine.....

FF6:

PC's: None

NPC's: Banon
Banon was such a stupid character in battle and overall in the game. He is with you for a "very" short time, if he dies you lose, his special ability his "Health"(that says it all), and after the WOB, he just disappears! Yaahooooooooo!!

FFX:

PC's: Tidus and Rikku
They are both exceptually good in battle in my opinion, but in personality and out of battle, they are just plain annoying and cry babies.

NPC's: The Besaid Aurochs
Everyone that was on that team, besides Tidus and Wakka, before you put new people in stunk out loud. Their stats were below average and every other new blitzer in the game is better than every single one of them.

FFX-2:

PC's: Rikku
Same as said before about her, except not even good in battle here!

NPC's: Brother
For hitting on his cousin and he is pretty much useless in the game and you could take him out and never know the difference.

I'll post more later.

FFIV: Edward the spoony bard.He should never have been a playable character.

FFV: "Krile", not only is her name reminiscent of blue whale food, but her battle sprite is horribly twisted, and she's an annoying replacement to the coolest old dude alive.

FFVI: Relm and Umaro. Both are a little shoddy in the usefulness department, made horribly worse (or better, if you like that) by the fact that Relm's sketch is too glitchy to actually use. Umaro was a decent concept, but in the end, the other characters are much more powerful than he is.

FFVII: Err... gosh there are so many wonderful choices. Im going to go out on a limb and say "everybody".

FFIX: Princess Garnet. She's moody and pouts for an annoying segment of the game. Kuja, as an NPC, comes in at a strong second for most annoying.

FFX: Tidus. The whiniest video game character I've ever seen - even worse than Edward de Spoony.

And the winner of the Most Annoying Final Fantasy Character Award goes to....

TIDUS!

Relm should be used as a Mage with her Kitten-Hood.

And you can solve 'Krile' by saying 'Klulu' though that isn't much better...:/

Why the hell did he want to go back to the regular world, Everbody seemse happy for their own superficiial reasons, His brother can walk, the chick has Red hair instead of white,
Honestly I hated the whole cast of FFTA, I guess that's what happens when the the average age of the characters is 7
And the Cid in FFTA doesn't deserve the name Cid.

i dont believe he was talking about Marche there. but good segue into your own rant. XD

anyway, yea. Mewt is the worst by far. at least anyone with any storywriting experience would maybe have him meet the main character from time to time, and slowly realize the error of their ways.

...but in IV for the GBA, you soon realise that Palom is better...but she has summons? but palom is stil a bit better, what about bahamut though? its called METEOR. and odin......its called METEOR. instant death for all...usually. not to mention by the time you get odin, most of the enemies are immune to instant death.

palom's just a better mage....even if he annoys the crap out of everyone

palom's just a better mage....even if he annoys the crap out of everyone

Once you hit levels in the 80s or so, Rydia and Palom's Intelligence stats both max out, so all Palom has against Rydia's summons is the lame Twin skill. Palom has his merits, but I still think Rydia's the better character.

FF3: Those four old men that pretended to be the Light Warriors. Uhg.

FF4: All of them except for Kain, Cecil, Yang, and Rydia.

FF5: Lenna, at first. Then I started liking her because of the flashback.

FF6: Mog, Umaro, Gau, Relm, Strago, and Terra.

FF7: Cloud, SEPHIROTH!, Barret, Aerith, and Cait Sith.

FF8: ALL OF THEM! FF8 sucks.

FF9: Zidane, Steiner, Amarant, Eiko, and Quina. Vivi, Garnet, and Freya were fine.
