Sister's 20...can't wait till she moves out...

I hope to hell for an apocalyptic world, what with all the superstitious nonsense being rammed down our throats thanks to the media.

Humans will destroy themselves eventually. It shouldn't be a question. I don't believe anyone can predict when it will happen, nor do I think it should be dependent on some fools' number either.

According to religion, conspiracy theories, and numerology, the world has ended no less than 94,113 times.

But here's the kicker.

If you add 9+4+1+1+3, you get 18. What's 18? 6 + 6 + 6. 666! OMFG!

Either this is all a load of bullcrap and people should choose wether to keep trying to find significance in man-made concepts/beliefs (OMG THE NUMBERS ARE ATTACKING!) or to start trying to find significance in actual real things, or the next time's for real and we're all screwed.

Wait, wait, in writing this post, 118 predictions came and went. WHEW! THANK GOD IT WASN'T FOR REAL THESE PAST 118 TIMES AS WELL, HUH GUYS? smile.gif

Fall for a trick once, and you're simply unlucky. Fall for it twice, and you're just stubborn. Keep falling for stupidness like this even now after so many "predictions", and you're just an idiot. wink.gif Even rodents learn from their mistakes after a couple of tries. There certainly WILL be an end, but one thing even more certain is that it won't magically manifest signs of its coming through the number of occurences of the letter "f" in this post combined with the square root of the number of pubic hairs Jesus lost in his life divided by how many goats were infected with the recent strain of "anal redness" in southern uruguay.

Edit: Tomorrow's the 8th of the 6th month of 2006. This may have some obscure significance - beware. wink.gif

In Biblical terms, it's not called the apocalypse, but armageddon.

Armageddon is the final battle that will be fought on Earth. Blood will run "to the height of a horses legs" when the battle is over. The world will be consumed by fire and brimstone. God promised fire, because after the great flood in Genesis He swore never to use water to smite us in such a way again.

eh...the end of the world...what does it matter, really? We would all die and then we wouldn't care, right?

I dun know...religion, media, personal beliefs...occultism all of that makes very little sense and each has it's gaping holes.

The only certainty is that one day I will die, and honestly, I'd would rather live dangerously than arrive safely at death.

Still is some strange stuff happening in my neck of the woods though. Maybe it's just people actin all screwy for no reason, bleh whatever.

not necessarily -- the english term "armageddon" comes from the hebrew words חר מגידן, or "mount megido," and refer to the tel at megiddo valley, about a stone's throw and a half from mt carmel, where according to hebrew tradition elijah called down the fire from heaven to light the waterlogged kindle. the only time the term is even mentioned in the Bible is in the apocalypse of john, in which he refers to a "gathering of armies" against the Lord at armageddon. indeed the Scriptural account is quite vague in reference to the actual catalytic events of the endtimes.

according to Scripture, not even the Son Himself knows when he will be directed to return and set into motion the realisation of the symbolically-decribed events spoken of in john's apocalypse. all these people with their idiot theories of being privy to the exact date/time that the world would end (a church around here had a day-by-day countdown to the 1/1/2000, when they were sure the "apocalypse" was coming) are seriously deluding themselves.

On a side note, my roommate and I were hanging out with some of her friends on that day, and we all thought it was funny that she's number 6 in our contacts list on our cell phones. happy.gif

It's a matter of opinions... not any better nor worse than other posts in this thread (though gozaru's little blurb on the origins of "armageddon" was quite an interesting read. smile.gif)

Quothe the Hamedo,
"I don't think God keeps a calendar."

God being (according to most sources, many of them whom were actually sober and in a sane state of mind at the time) an immortal, omnipotent, omniscient, omnislash being, I would be surprised if the old dude could tell "a triliion billion millenias from now" apart from "tomorrow." I think if there's a religious reason behind the end of the world, it probably wouldn't involve $deity sitting in his/her lil' throne and occasionally glancing at his/her pocketwatch while heaving a bored sigh.

I mean, y'know, God has needs too. He'd probably go shoot some pool with Jesus over a few beers for a few millenias every once in a while. smile.gif

And for those of us who believe that $deity == NULL, well, I suppose the calendar reference's message holds even more true (that existence isn't linked to some ticking time bomb waiting to go off at the precise moment it's been set to blow.)

The 06/06/06 Armageddon theories were about two thousand years too late. wink.gif

But I don't get why people always pick these 'obvious' dates for their Armageddon theories. God probably wouldn't pick an obvious date to end the world. Where would the fun be in that? ;P

I have a friend who believes that the second coming will happen before his mother's generation dies. Have no idea where he got this from. Probably his mom but I don't know where she got it from either. She has some crazy ideas about many things and one just has to throw up their hands in bewilderment at them.

I read several things somwhere concerning this.
1: "On the 06/06/06, the devil will be born in human form. He/she will be charismatic, and people will think that he/she will be someone to turn too. There will be seven years of earthquakes and at some point, someone will defeat the human devil and anyone who is still alive at that point will live on as normal"
and be very lonely...
2: "The original apocalypse was predicted, by one of jesuses deciples, to happen in the disciples lifetime."
3: Carbon, unless it is radioactive carbon-14, has six neutrons, six protons, and six electrons, so we're all made of the devils number".

I have to admit that it is rather ironic how our ancestors associate the end of the world with a bloody battle. The Vikings believed in the Ragnarok, the end of the world where the gods to battle for the very last time. Armageddon tells of a time where we shall kill each other. This is just getting better and better. sleep.gif;

In actuality if you want a "pre-armageddon era" all you have to do is eradicate the supply of electricity, forcing humanity to live without electrical-powered things. We are so dependant on electricty, it would destroy our civilization as we know it. It would be kinda' cool.

But that would mean no more Internet... huh.gif That could be soul destroying. biggrin.gif

But seriously, once we run out of fossil fuels, we won't have enough electricity and people are demanding it more and more, so that is only a matter of time. Should be interesting to see how that works out.

First, to clear some things up, 06/06/06 would not be the end of the world. IT would be the so called "begiinning of the end". AS in, the Antichrist would be born and eventually ruin us all.

Still scared? Well, the fact that the christian calendar is four years off, so 06/06/02 would have been the REAL day of the devil. However, hollywood frowned upon it, so they moved it to tuesday.

I'm glad the world didnt end. The new Hush Sound CD came out, and I would be lonely without it. happy.gif

Not the only thing. The Rapture, the last book of the prequel trilogy of the Left Behind series (which is about the end times) came out on 06-06-06.
Also, That was the day Ann Coulter went on Hannity and Colmes, and Sean Hannity said it was appropriate that she be there that day, calling her the Antichrist of Liberals. Also, her book titled Godless came out that day.

A more interesting date was yeterday's: 06/20/06 -> 06/2006

Well let's look at it this way our concept of time is man-made, and not absolute, we use our earth laps to count years, when a year from now earth what be in the same place, it'll probably be a little off, earth has am interesting axis and orbit. the orbit is inconsistent, our concept of time should not be used to think ahead about the end. Because there is no way to know it's the end, unless it is the endm and we are present. So I don't waste my time worrying about armaggedon and whatnot.

I don't know why it would occur on that date, in our calendar... which is based on a totally arbitrary start date. The Chinese calendar is way ahead of us, etc... the Mayan calendar is nearly over (OMG we're gonna die in 2012).
