Here are some fictional character backgrounds from Final Fantasy 6(somewhat based
on what we see in the game). Feel free to add your own or comment on them...

Most of it so far focuses on the Empire's top figures...all very interesting characters.

Emporer Ghestahl

Ghestahl is the Emporer of Vector. He was given the top job when his father became ill and died. At the time of the game, he has been ruling for about 30 years. His family came to power when his grandfather led a revolution to overthrow a corrupt government.

General Leo

Leo comes from one of the top aristrochratic families in Vector. They lived in Vector’s castle and are one of the wealthliest in the nation. His father was a top advisor to Ghestahl and Ghestahl’s father. The brilliant Leo joined Vector’s army and perfomed extremelly well, eventually becoming the nation’s top general.

Kefka

Kefka was born in a poor, broken home in Vector. His father abandoned the family when he was young and his mother abused him regularly. When he was a teenager, his mother sent him to an insitution for troubled teens. Most would eventually be enlisted into Vector’s army once they come of age. Kefka was extremely vicious yet smart and performed well in his first few years in the military. The turning point in his life happened when he helped foil a plot to assassiante Emporer Gesthal. This eventually led him into the Empire’s inner circle. He was a truly devoted to the Empire and its missions. Kefka was the first to be infused with magic using Cid’s techniques. The experiment didn’t go so well and Kefka showed many signs of insanity, yet he excelled in his position as one of the Empire’s top advisors and generals.

Celes

Celes also comes from an upper class Vector family. Her family had high ranking combat and non-combat roles in Vector’s army and held serveral governing offices. Unfortunately, her parents both died when she was very young. She was raised at Vector by other family members. Cid, a friend of the family and Vector’s top scientist, also helped raise her.

Interesting. I especially like Kefka's. (Because we have only about one in-game reason why he's insane, which you'd have to look for.) thumbup.gif

An intresting concept, and one I've actually been consdiering myself. I've been wasting time for the past half-year on a fake encyclopedia sort of thing on FF6's nations, militaries, and history, and it's hit 98 pages, half of it blank placeholder stuff waiting for me to type in the history of a character. I feel making these a little longer and more bios rather than brief descritptions could work wonders.

Great, hopefully you can share your work with us once it's done. should be interesting to take a look at.

I didnt go into too much detail with these bios because I didn't want to make up too much information - I'll let the creative writers here deal with that. It just made sense that Celes and Leo probably came from top/noble families in Vector (which led them to their positions). And Kefka must have come from a much lower class family (like many crazed dictators in history).

I guess what I don't understand is the necessity of something like this (hi, late response). All, or nearly all, of these characters already have pretty comprehensive biographies released by Square in their Ultimania guide -- which is easily Googleable -- and no offense, but I'd rather study that than use someone's made-up version. Especially when there's no story involved to add redeeming value.
