Hey, I was just playing through FFT again, and when looking at the discription of the Tabaco Pipe (you get it from a proposition at Igros Castle) it says it can be used in battle. What's up with that? I've never seen anywhere you can use any of these items, and haven't found anything online about it. Is it just an item discription lifted from some previous game, and they just left that there, or is there some secret where you can use it?

None of the proposition treasures can be used in battle. Don't remember that one specifically (don't usually bother with props), but it's probably talking about how it was used back in the day.

The item's description was just referring offhandedly that it could be used in battle, i.e. by those who used it at that time (Far East thieves). As RBN said, prop treasures are useless for any in-game purposes, and any other relevance they have is only good for establishing the items as throwbacks to previous Final Fantasies. I can't be the only one who wishes he could use a Chocobo Cannon or machine gun in battle, but it can't happen, sadly. Definitely something that could be broadened if a remake ever fell out of the sky.

Thanks. Just wishful thinking I guess... If you were able to use these treasures in battle (in a remake), I think it would best if it was a secret class that could. Maybe you have to master all the classes, and then there's a little side story (like beowolf's) that you follow to have acess to it.

Yeah, that'd be a great idea. I almost made a class like that which used old relics in battle in that Invent-A-Class thread awhile back. Maybe call 'em an artificer?

What about the new lands? New battle grounds with super awesome super secret items hiddon about the fields? Towns with secret items? Or maybe you can summon them like you can summon Odin, and fight with them in battles. Yeah, maybe not.

I like the idea of raising hell with the Chocobo Cannon or using some of the materia.

as far as all that goes, wouldn't that be considered a mechanic? Because in the story, that is what they do - the restore the past legacies. And as for the materia - I'm sure this was false information, but I heard somewhere that if your treasure hunter level is high enough that they aid your stats, or stat growths or something. Like I said, that is just something I heard once.

Mechanics are good with things of the past, but as far as the game shows us with Besrodio's drift-digging and any 'resurrected' technology, it's all machine-related. Relics don't necessarily have to have metal builds or makes, as most of the prop items show.

I don't know..I heard the same thing about the materia, and this was in my pre internet days....Maybe I could check somewhere and find out.
