Cid dropping his cigarette. I knew about Aerith, I knew Dyne when I saw him next to the cliff, the rest were not real heart-stoppers. But Cid dropping a cigarette? Never saw it coming.

Never saw it coming. I've not read a post as funny as that for a long time. Good work. I'd have to vote "other" in this poll. My most shocking moment was the very first time I played the game. I'd saved in the sub-pen before fighting Reno's big grabbing-machine. Then got the sub (after ages) and swam straight into Emerald Weapon. You can guess the next part. I couldn't bring myself back to the game for weeks after that. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

I'm going to go with what Sweetdude said. The first time I played the game, I got the sub, and saw a big green thing swimming in the ocean. Litle did I know at the time, that when I went after it, was a damn-near impossible boss battle! But, I'm gonna' have to vote for Dyne committing suicide because that whole scene was just awesome it couldn't have been done better. I was shocked to hear that Dyne was alone in the desert, and a little insane wanting to destroy everything. Definately one of the coolest scenes.

I say Dyne suiciding. I kinda saw it coming right at the end of the battle, because he basically had nothing. But even after Barret told him his daughter was still alive (I knew they couldnt be related), he still didn't change his mind. He truly felt he was done... so saddening...

Possible spoilers: highlight to view Aeris dying wasn't surprising to me, if only because my friend already told me it was going to happen anyway. Still, someone has to die an emotional teary FMV death. Meh. It's not like optional bosses are impossible anyway, and compared to Emmy/Ruby, he is a pushover. Indeed, a shocker. Also predicted that. It's not like that was on a scale as big as Shinra/Seph/other big plot events. It has to have a happy ending, so not that surprising either. As for me, finding out all the Sephiroths were just images and the whole Cloud backstory weren't predicted by me, and were interesting too. -------------------- |

Aeris Dying
Already knew. Though it sure came close to being my #1, because it was unsual to have a character in my party go poof for good. Ultima Weapon being too easy It being a mandatory battle (at least the first time) WITHOUT your "main" character to help you out made it obvious they wouldn't throw some impossible super-demon at you... Cid dropping his cigarette at the end ...This is shocking? Why? Dyne commiting suicide I liked Dyne's character, except for the obvious emo-goth "OMG I HAVE BLOOD ON MY HANDS no no no I can never atone must kill self" persona they hammered into him. Up until that, he was cool. Like all attention-craving emo whores, he lept off a cliff and died. Yippie. I so didn't see that coming. ![]() The lifestream saving Midgar Did it? I'm pretty sure I saw Midgar totally smashed up... Other What really surprised me was that scene with Vincent in the waterfall and the one in the mansion with Cloud. I didn't know about either and I was quite surprised to suddently find myself in a cutscene. That, and the "%)/"$) Room" in the Honeybee inn - I still don't quite get it. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

It wasn't really shocking when he jumped, it was just a bit annoying. I also thought he'd join the party. I was well up for having him in my team because he was quite cool. And after fighting Yuffie to get her I thought it'd be like that. Then he jumped and I was like "Ok great, now I just need to get to the bottom of the cliff and Dyne'll be in my team." Then my friend just shook his head. Most shocking is still the first Emerald fight for me. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Aeris dying. When I first played the game I loathed her. So when she died I laughed hysterically and clapped and jumped and it made me love Sephiroth even more. After that, I was really sad when she died even though I knew she would.

I think the sheer average-ness of the game was the most shocking moment.
Either that or watching Vincent get really mad at Hojo at the end of disc 2. |

He's not actually emo as such, more like, guilty. it kinda reminds me of (yeah, call me a nerd) Shakespeare's MacBeth. He kidna holds the character of MacBeth in the beginning of the play Quote (act2, scene 2) and Lady MacBeth towards the end of the play Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather The multitudinous seas incarnadine, Making the green one red Quote (act 5, Scene 1). The guilt he feels, I guess, he cant live with himself anymore.out damned spot, out I say. One, two. Edit: If it doesnt make sense, its because I lost my train of thought part way through this post. Definitely the first time I fought Ruby. I was like, "OH! What a cute little wiggly thing over there! Let's go check it out!" And then...well, you can guess what happened next. Yeah. I didn't hear about Aeris/Aerith dying beforehand, either, so don't feel bad. I wasn't really shocked or anything, since I didn't care for her anywho. However, I was kind of surprised that she and Cloud never really had anything. I thought they'd at least express their feelings in a corny, slightly comical scene, but they didn't. Kind of a letdown.

First of all the the option "Ultima Weapon being to easy" is a typo. ULTIMA weapon is Cloud's Ultimate Weapon. The flying thingy in the air is ULTIMATE weapon not ULTIMA. There I'm done complaining.
Most shocking moment to me was Seto's (Red XIII's father) statue crying. Powerful stuff man. -------------------- (Comical Voice) "Say Cloud, why don't you change your party? Who shall we choose? How about......Yuffie and Cait Sith.....Just kidding guys! No one likes you!" |

Well other.
When you saw Red XIII's father crying but then i was like he's petrified, conseidered dead, but if he's crying shouldnt he be alive and like you give him a soft or something? Then When Aeris died, the first time i played i used her and got her final limit and all that stuff then she got stabbed WTF!?! i was kinda depressed to her and CLoud were 5 stars man... perfect match, poor tifa.. -------------------- Sata Tsubasa no Tenshi- Barret - "Cloud the group has been talking and we feel that its time for a new leader."
