what is your best gun and do you use it?
with me it's the stone gun
ATK 16 Evade 5
Start with: Petrify
its cursed but it's my best and I use it with Mustadio

Is there any way to start without being in Petrify?

the one you speak of is the Blast gun i think...ive changed my mind, steal and the infinite items glitch has made my life easier with chemist class...steal from Balk, duplicate...awesome infinite guns

I switch between the elemental guns (Blaze Gun, Glacier Gun, and Blast Gun) depending on the weakness of the enemies, but overall, the Blast Gun is my favorite. It is lightning elemental and randomly uses Bolt spells.

You are right, D-C-R?. Blast Gun. If I could have a party of Mechanics, I would totally do it. A roaming band of gunslinging machinists? Where do I sign up for that!

Needless to say, Mustadio is one of my favorite characters in the game.

just get the equip gun ability from Mediators...jp glitch works wonders (i think you can use it for them)



the blast gun rules...i accidentally deleted my good file so i have to do it again...im trying to learn ultima in with teh elmdor....horray!

I agree in my most recent playthrough I decided to let mustadio be a Engineer instead of a dragoon I looked ahead in the FFT weapons section to see where to get which guns.
After getting all of them (ended up stealing some from chemists in random battles). i have to say Blast Gun is my favorite.

I reall enjoy using mustadio when leveling up characters, He's a master of torture. When I use the beat up your own party trick I have mustadio taunt the last living enemy. Don't, move, Don't Act, Speed break, Power break, et cetera.

also guns have awsome range, hell you can even attack the guy right in front of you if you aim at the squares directly behind him.

I'm still curious as to what the damage calculation for guns is. It'd be awsome to get damage with just the bullet above 500.

the damage calculation for guns is

Gun, Physical** WP * WP

** Unlike with other weapons, ATTACKS with a gun are not subject to evasion.

Basically it's the weapon power times the weapon power for the basic guns.

Magical guns

[(CFa * TFa * Q * WP) / 10000]

Okay let's break that down
CFa is the casters faith
TFa is the targets faith
Q in this case is determined by a 'roll'
and WP is weapon power

Q will be 14 60% of the time (Level 1 spell), 18 30% of the time (level 2 spell) and 24 10% of the time (level 3 spell) it's basically a magical attack with physical damage...could be a double edged sword, so don't always lower your faith!

Also the maximum range of any gun is 8(line of sight), while the minimum is 3.

I like the magic guns. What's really great is with a Mediator(who can equip guns), you can cast faith and then they'll do major damage!

i love getting higher tier spells with the blast gun under faith

Here's an amendment to my earlier post..too much to merit a simple edit so...

For those interested when using the Archer's 'charge' ability set the damage formula is as follows:

Gun (physical) : (WP + K) * WP

Where 'K' is the modifier (i.e. Charge + 4, K would equal 4)

Gun (Magical) : [CFa/100 * TFa/100 * (WP + K) * Q]

So as we can see, magical guns are superior to physical guns in terms of maximum damage attainable, as long as the casters (firers) Faith is a decent amount.

Adding further to the damage of magic guns, they're affected by both Magic Attack UP and equipment that strengthens the respective element. A character with 84 faith, Magic Attack UP and a Black Robe or 108 Gems can do some serious damage.

Charge I don't find that useful, though. The magic guns have a WP of 20-22, so adding 4 isn't spectacular unless you've got absolutely nothing else to give your gunner for a secondary.

Back on topic, my favorite would be the Blaze Gun (ice elemental) -- you get them before the end of the game (by the time you get the Glacier and Blast guns there's only a few battles left) and I'm a cold-weather person.

If you Equip Change to a Stone Gun you won't be petrified.

Thanks for that piece of info Next time I play FFT (which should be soon) I'll equip mustadio with some magic boosting equipment.My goal is still over 500 damage with the regular bullet.

I know, and you can get one even earlier in the Ghosts of Colliery sidequest. That was exactly my point, you can get Blaze guns before the end of the game instead of waiting for the Deep Dungeon (Glacier) or the final set of battles (Blast).

If you're talking about MA-boosting equipment that won't work, only element-strengthening equipment does.

I would say either Blast Gun Blaze Gun, or Glacier Gun. The Stone Gun with Petrification is cool, too but I prefer the elemntal guns, especially when equipped with the Black Robe.

Maybe it's because I fight in MLAPAN so much where there's always a woodman convention to be found, but the Glacier Gun is always in some unit's hands. Fire3'ing gives a feeling rivaled only by Ice3'ing someone with the Blaze Gun. Thunder bullets don't really do it for me, really.

The Stone Gun is probably the best just since it doesn't rely on Faith.

I forgot what my favorite gun is, but it's a real pity that guns are a two handed-weapon; imagine a mediator with the Two Swords ability. XD

They aren't two-handed, they just can't be used with Two Swords (similar to Spears). You CAN use a Shield with them though, so they are one handed.

basically,


the equipment you have on MUST be better than anything in the store


equip the weapon or shield that you want to duplicate
go to a store
go to 'fitting room'
select the character with the weapon/shield
go to the opposing hand the equipped item is in (if you are trying to duplicate, say the glacier gun and its in your right hand, select another weapon from the list and put it in your left)

after you put the new weapon in, select 'best fit'
if your equipment was better than everything else, you should have what you came on with...no changes
exit the store

you have 2 of the 'one-of-a-kind' thing


this works with ANY type of weapon and shield, but not armor, accessories, or helm. this is a good way to get gold, duplicate good bags or axes and sell em off. quick money

mine is the Blaze gun its funny though that the guns use a diffrent eleament then their name make them out to be

Blaze gun all the way for me.I like ice elemental better than any other elemental.But what i don't get is how come the blaze gun shoots ice elemental and the glacier shoots fire elemental.Should'nt it be the other way around .

But yeah, I really liked the 'Blaze' Gun. Probably because it was the only one I got that was actually good. I believe I stole it from Balk, or maybe I'm thinking of a different gun from that one Chemist in one of the Collieries. I don't remember.

My favorite gun is the Blaze Gun.

I really didn't like Mustadio, just because his lack of skills. Instead, I prefer Chemists.

Depending on how I feel or how my party goes, I either keep a Chemist or a Black Mage throughout the entire game.

I'll always, Always name my Black Mage/Chemist Curtis. The first time I played FFT he was the only party member that survived throughout the whole.

If I keep a Chemist, then I'll usually give him Equip Armor, and Either Yin Yang, or Time Magic.

For Black Mage, though. I give him Equip Gun, And either Summon or White Magic.

I love seeing a Black Mage shoot a Magic Gun. He does extremely well Damage, and it's useful for whenever the CT's don't look my way.

Dangerous enemies with a weakness to,

Ice: Ahriman, Plague, Red Dragon, Hydra, Tiamat
Fire: Revenant, Blue Dragon, Apanda
Lightning: Mindflare

Blaze Gun is my pick due to the greater number of dangerous opponents where it strikes a weakness. Also, it's available much earlier; the other elemental guns can't be obtained before clearing the Limberry series.
