Quote Caesar: I suggest giving the search function a try if you have a question. Just type in testper in the bottom of the FFVI forum page and you will get heaps of results. Just by doing that, I found 6 pages asking the exact same thing, on the first page of results alone. Hopefully, this will serve the purpose of reinforcing the usefulness of the search function. happy.gif http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...3777&hl=testper http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...6237&hl=testper http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...2748&hl=testper http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...2316&hl=testper http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...=726&hl=testper http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...=449&hl=testper Well, if you search for "tresper," you don't find anything containing "testper." And you can't seriously expect anyone to use the search function much if it searches for entries that are newer than 30 days by default, and that option has to be changed every time to search for entries older than that. Just a thought. -------------------- I know I've been Final Fantasy XII too long - just the other day I referred to a region with no cell service as a Jagd! |

Quote (jfjksdl @ 30th April 2006 14:02) Well, if you search for "tresper," you don't find anything containing "testper." Obviously you get what you search for. The site calls it "Testper," not "Tresper." Hm. Interesting.
Let me ask you a question real quick. How would one hear of tresper/testper? Either from the FFVI esper database or from a thread asking about the FFVI database, correct? In both instances it is spelled "correctly" as testper, so I assumed he knew how to spell it, and that the misspelling in the thread was just that. Also, the search function doesn't have a date restriction, as far as I know. I didn't change a thing; I just typed "testper" in the box and got tons of results. You may be looking at the settings for the forum display, which, by default, only displays the threads that have been active within the last 30 days. As a final note, I was not admonishing him for not using the search function. I didn't even know that it existed my first day(s) here, let alone within the first month or so, so how could I expect that of somebody? I had a feeling that my post would come off as such, so I added the happy emoticon at the end. And I only closed the thread so I wouldn't get any more responses in the thread, as no more were necessary, and the question was thoroughly answered. Just a thought. -------------------- Is PJ |

Actually...
1. When you click "Search", it automatically searches in the forum you're in, but the default search options are "30 days ago and ..." and "newer". 2. Dragon King, you might want to consider checking your spelling before posting. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Comments on spelling aside, I believe that I can and probably should increase the default timespan for searching. I don't think it will create a vastly larger load on the database, but I will consider it and discuss with Tiddles.
