If characters had different uses/

If FFV characters had their own initial abilities, which would they be as?

Heh.. I thought about this after I was playing FF4a on my GBA and saw how hard it was with all the balanced characters, so I wondered in FF5 why can't the characters do the same too?

For me, this is what I'd choose:

Butz: I'd rather see him as a mixture of a Knight and a Hunter. Since he is the son of
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Dorgan, a Dawn Warrior
, he'd have inherited some Knight abilities. And Hunter because that is the closest thing to being an adventurer. !Animals would make sense to be in there (evidence that he also befriended Boco).

So his abilities would be:

!Animals
Both Hands

Lenna: She seems more like a White Mage and a Mediator. The reason why I said White Mage would be because

If you've seen her flashback with Sarisa as children, you'll know that Sarisa was studying Cure, Cure2, and Cure3. So it would only be fair if Lenna studied aswell and mastered it.
and Mediator because
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
if you've seen her actions at the Hiryuu Valley, you'll realize that she cares deeply about the Hiryuus that she tries to convince Cara's Hiryuu back at Bal Castle to eat it. So she would most likely have a !Catch command because of that.

So her abilities would be:

!White LV6
!Catch

Galuf: Yeah I know his abilities would also be passed on to Cara, but Galuf is more of a wise Mystic Knight. I mean, he IS [SPOILER] a Dawn Warrior. Most likely they're supposed to carry around swords and spears that use magical attacks.

So his abilities would be:

!Sword LV6
Barrier

Faris: Faris is easy. She's a pirate. And what do pirates do?... Commit crimes! So her abilities would be:

!Steal (I'd say !Capture but then the Fight command would be useless)
!Escape

Cara: Since she gains Galuf's items halfway into the game, she would be a mixture of a Black Mage and a Mediator (like Lenna). Black Mage because
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
when you go after the Earth Crystal, she uses a "weak" Bolt spell on King Tycoon.
and Mediator because
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
like Lenna, she has kind behavior towards animals. I think it would make sense to have !Control because she can speak to creatures and befriend them that way.


So her regular abilities would be:

!Sword LV6 (I'd go for !Black but either way they're both magical)
!Control

now the problem is this: How can you have one more ability for Cara when the system only accepts up to four abilities total per character? Hmm... But oh well just suppose you can have one more.

No, but in all seriousness, I did think by their beginning equipment they'd be something like:

Butz- Warrior
Galuf- Monk
Faris- Definitely Thief
Rena- ?

Can't really decide on her. She starts with a knife, doesn't she? We can't have two thieves...hm...Meh. Let's just stick her with white mage or something. The female lead always seems to be a white mage of some sort. (For some reason...)

well NXD said abilities, not classes

so I believe
Butz-Pin: increases evasion
Galuf-blitz: <-- --> <-- (just for the heck of it)
Faris: Mug (she's a pirate isn't she)
Reina: Health (I believe that's the ability Banon has, but I could be wrong, It has the same affect as Banon's)

Hmmm... inherent abilities for otherwise nearly-generic characters? This is one reason why I think that Disgaea 2 could be better than Disgaea 1, but that's beside the point. This thread intrigues me.

Bartz - Whenever you have a specific ability that is known by all three other members of the party, he learns it.
Lenna - All of her damage-dealing spells and attacks are 30% more effective if the enemy she's attacking is at a higher level than she is.
Galuf - Any elemental spell (besides Holy-elemental) does 30% less damage to him.
Faris - Her Strength, Agility, and Magic stats all increase by 40% when she's in a "kneeling" weakened state.
Cara - White, Black, Time, Blue, and Summon spells cost 90% as much as usual. Meh, I always make Galuf/Cara a mage character.

Why give them inherent abilities that they can learn in-game anyway? That's no fun.

Heh.. If you look at mines up there, I only tried giving them more careful abilties that would make more sense to the plot. Well, atleast I tried sad.gif
