Price ceiling announced for Wii

Not ending price debates, but merely modifying them, Nintendo confirmed today that the price for the Wii upon release will not be any higher than $250 US. In addition, Nintendo also predicts that they will ship more than 6 million units worldwide. Wii's price comes as a big relief to gamers looking to buy a next-generation system without emptying their entire savings account to do so - especially with the recent pricing news of Sony's PS3.
-- For me, this only solidifies the decision I had already made to buy a Wii over any other system. A release price of at most $250 is a huge advantage for the system over the PS3 and even the XBox360, though a price drop is expected for the latter upon the release of the Wii. 250$ is what ithought, if it is 200$ i will gett it within 3 months after it comes out then, i cant afford a PS3

A Wii price for a Wii console...
I reckon the important (UK) price will be closer to $350 though, because if Sony double on the price VAT after Import tax, EU tax, Tax tax, etc... then Ninty will have to slap a hundred dollars on there. If they sold at the same price as the US it's as much as a PSP, however, it's not going to happen. It's going to be closer to £200. As it stands, Wii costs a quarter of PS3, and as far as I'm concerned, unless you're a nintendo fan, you get a quarter of the quality. An article I saw yesterday said that the opening price in Japan would be 250$, something like 10,000 yen.

No, that's completely incorrect. 10,000 yen is right about $90, which would be absolutely absurd for an opening next-gen console price.
