Between the two I prefer Odin, because he only does the instant kill attack and but Gilgamesh can sometimes do some useless moves like the Excalipoor which does 1 DAMAGE.

I prefer Gilgamesh. I think it is hilarious when he comes during the final boss and uses excalipoor.

I picked Odin. I just liked his character design and he always came in a pitch.

Getting Odin is a really good little bit of the game. The area is optional, the scenery is fairly nice, the music is quite cool, and there are no silly NPC students running around. I like fighting the GFs to get them. It's a shame he doesn't really fight back!
I wish RPGs would feature more areas like this. It's entirely optional, but really good fun to find and complete. Strangely enough, the best RPG for this is the Orc Campaign in WarCraft III. There is a dimensional gate on the map which takes you to a demon arena on Outland. The more times you win the more tomes you get. I wish Ultimecia's Castle was like this. Basically, instead of being a last dungeon, it's Omega Weapon's castle. You travel through time to a place where White SeeDs are trying to bring down a massive foreign monster from space. There are his monster lieutenants to beat in order to get your abilities back, then you ring the bell and fight Omega himself. That would be much better. Anyway, Odin is better because of the trial to win him. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

I haven't played the game, but I'll go Odin for character design and coolness.

I've always liked Odin, even before VIII. Odin was one of my favorites from Norse mythology, so I voted for him. To be honest though, I can't remember who Gilgamesh was. It's been soooo long since I played VIII.

I definitely like Odin more, he's cooler and more useful in my opinion. HOWEVER, I almost always get him on Disc Two for Tonberry, and I think the bit where you get Gilgamesh is great. How the heck Seifer does what he does I shall never know, but it's totally badass.

I like fighting the GFs to get them. It's a shame he doesn't really fight back! He does fight back. Trust me. He's just a little slow on the uptake if you get my drift. This was a tough choice for me being a long time fan of final fantasy 8. Both GFs have good things going for them. But i'll have to say gilgamesh because i like the story that is involved with him. He travels through time, collecting awesome swords. He's just cool.

The FFV Gilgamesh barely makes sense. Not sure how charming that can be.

But even with his one attack, it's not much of a battle is it? More like bomb defusing. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind.
