i accidentally beat him. i beat down some of his hp by miming omnislash for a while. but thecould died. so i revived him and he started to heal. vincent turn into chaos and did that for a while. cid just used dragon dive and mimed that for a bit. cloud was 9999 as was the rest of them and emerald used aire tam storm. cloud and vincent died and cid now had 7777 hp.....i forgot that he only had 2 materia on....he procceeded (sp?) to kill emerald for me.....great tactic by sweetdude thumbup.gif

i'd go with the whole mime-counterattack materia combo for barret. equip him with an armor and weapon with 8 slots each. fill up all the slots with this combo. then use a bunch of hero's drinks on him. finally, have him use Ungarmax and just wait for emerald to attack. instant death.

each hit will do about 7000-9999 damage. and with as many hits an Ungarmax has, that's alot of damage. couple that with the fact that he'll counter by doing Ungarmax 8 times. you gots yourself a dead WEAPON.

yea, this WILL take you forever to set up.

A good way i can think of is geting 3 comet marerias lvl 2+ and puting them with sneak attack on each of your chars (Have lucky 7's fever on) Equip quadra magic with master magic or more comet materia for each char that way at start you attack with comet 48 times. then have 1 character with w magic so he can use comet 2 times with the quadra magic on giving you 32 hits then mime with other chars a few counter mimes would make this a big help aswel.

It was good I suppose. Still, for maxed stats the time was huge. Should've just mastered 16 or so Counter-Attacks and done the job with them. Could've done this as he morphed the enemies in the Gelnika. Speaking of which, this must've been done long after the initial fight with Emerald. But I did enjoy it. Thanks for posting.

*sorry if this is aleady on here somewhere*
You need Barrett in your party, he needs his limit 'Angermax' you need mime, Barrett must be in full Limit guage b4 fighting him.
have Cloud use a hero drink on Barrett, skip Barretts turn, and Mime away, until you think he'll do good damage.
Use 'Angermax' , skip you're other two turns, and Mime away w/ Barrett for some reason the amount of times Barrett will Limit will multiply up to 4x a mime, and 'Angermax' does multiplt hits per limit. If done correctly, Emerald will die and you will not even have lost 3 minutes on the timer (no need for 'Underwater' materia here)

Good call. I think we've covered just about every tactic. How I'd love to hear a completely radical one.

Has anyone killed the WEAPONs normally without using any tips? So no KoTR, Lucky 7s, Cait Sith Instant victory or just equiping a small amount of Materia etc

I did. Quadra magic+gravity, W magic=80 thousand damage per turn. Beat him just using cloud.

Another way of doing it is use some hero drinks on a character, and just equip him/her with tons of counter attacks and cover.

But, erm, isn't gravity not fatal? I mean, it takes off a certain fraction of the opponent's hps...but only that fraction. If he only has one hp left, doing Demi3 might kill him, but...erm..am I just being dumb?

well, you finish him off with omnislash smile.gif

Also, you can use this tactic to keep your HP and MP up, you need 3 gravities to do it though. Link one to HP Plus, one to MP plus, and one to quadra magic. This way you also regain 8000 health and keep your MP at full. If you have master magics, you could also keep this chain going when the eyes appear by doing Master Magic-->Quadra Magic, Master Magic-->HP absorb, (or Ultima-->HP absorb) Master Magic-->MP absorb, (or Ultima-->MP absorb) and when the eyes come out, with each ultima you regain about 3000hp and 300mp, depending on your magic stats.

That's quite cool. But wouldn't it take a great while to kill him? What's your best time using this tactic?

Silver 09 I beat him when I was an ickle boy using just standard Ultima, Counter-Attack, maybe mimed a couple of Limits, Final Attack and Phoenix (*cringe*). Now that I'm slightly smarter I'd like to think I don't need to go back to the times when I thought Aire Tam Storm ALWAYS killed my party. But yeah I know what you mean, everyone has to beat him once with no real game plan, even if it is quite easy.

Ah yeah I've seen them all. What amazes me about the Tifa one is the level 7 part of it. Can't be legit... surely? Or is there a way/glitch/code to lower her level? As you may have guessed, I can only play the PSX version.

a way to do it in playstation is to have her in every battle and kill her every time, from the beginning of the game

I did it! Lvl 60 Barret-Cloud-Cid. It was only a matter of time. Aire Tam Storm doesn't hit you if you destroy those jewels or whatever they are that appear on Emerald's shoulder. W-item justs rocks, 99 megaelixirs and 99 hero drinks. But my secret is...Fury! Emerald Shoot = Omnislash + Ungarmax + Hyper jump (useful to destroy these damn jewels OR WHATEVER THEY ARE!!!)
It's quite ridiculous, I didn't train in ANY place in my recent playthrough, just defeated it with the 4th try. smile.gif Ruby is 10 times stronger, that's for sure.

They're EYES!!! Congrats though on your victory.

We did the Emerald Challenge a few weeks ago. My mate should've won with his insane 28 second Cait Sith technique; but it was my Sneak Attack + Comet2, Quadra Magic + Comet 2, Mime, Lucky 7s which beat him in 3:43.

His tactic was quite cool so I'll explain. He had Cloud and Yuffie at 1hp. His Nanaki (Red XIII I know...) used Howling Moon to begin with, then Cloud used a remedy to take off beserk and he gave Nanaki four Hero Drinks before the other two died. He'd given Nanaki eight mastered Counter-Attacks - each doing 9999 damage. It was really impressive except he should've used devestating Comet 2s as his stats were so high after Howling Moon and the Hero Drinks. He beat him not long after 4 minutes.

I've only beaten Emerald once, and the time I did it I gave Cloud as many materia slots as I could. One mastered Cover materia and as many mastered Counter Attack materias as I had - it was somewhere around 12. It didn't take me long. smile.gif

Good job sweetdude i also used that tactic. Your friends tactic was surprising but now i see how good it is i might have to try it although i dont understand the point of 1 hp?

Don't know if anyone could help, but is there a way to manipulate Kitten Sith's slots without resetting a million times until you get it (like Setzer's slots in FFVI?)? Or is it purely luck for FFVII? I've only killed Emerald Weapon that way once, by luck, and I've never been able to do it again.

Ah yeah that was just to show off basically. He used the 7s in a battle so that they'd be on such low hp. I can see why; he didn't need them (after the Hero Drinks/Remedy) and it looked impressive having two characters as near-death as possible. Thanks for the response, the next thing we're going to do is try and beat him quicker than 1:18... I have an idea but I'm not going to post it before I've tried it first.

Hmm under 1:18 iv also tried that never came up with an answer mayb u would have to look into sumthing never used before maybe i different limit i dont no all i no is that counter mimes gonna be a must i think, the time of the limit will affect the overall time so that might be something to look out for but im pretty sure barrets is the fastest although i remember red 13 having a fast one aswel.

i watched the barret vs emmy wep jp vid and i want to know how did he use so many counter/mimes?

Most likely just used the best weapon and Armor in the game for Barret....easy as pie. Then you just run out and gather as much AP as you can for only Counter and Mime Materia's ......they do split after all.

This is a pretty big bump but I'd figure I'd post my time..

I managed a 3:41 time with a solo cloud versus emerald =>

*edit... New time: 2:54!!!!!!!!!!! woot..
Link for Screenshot

This is with..
no kotr
no mime
no 7777
no ultimate weapon
no final attack phoenix
no cait sith limit
Active battle mode
Fastest battle speed

Here is my setup:
Enhance Sword (8 slots)
Mystile (6 slots)
Sprint Shoes (haste at start of fight)

W-Item
7x Counter Attacks
Restore <-> Counter Magic
2x Speed Plus Materia
1x Long Range (just for kicks)
1x 4x-cut Materia

ENSURE That youre restore materia is level 3, this means everytime you get attacked by something Emerald throws at you, it will be Regen. I thought this was a pretty genius idea. thumbup.gif I'm not sure if the speed plus materias helped as much as I think they did, but whatever. eh.gif

I presume this is at level 99 cos i tried it with Cid, Red XIII and Cloud at about levels 88 - 94 and i still got an arse whooping.

And which did you find easier, Ruby or Emerald cos i beat Ruby at summin like levels 77 - 82.
