Quote (TItoJackson @ 16th May 2006 19:24) Oh dear god... the Lucky 7 trick... I cant believe I forgot about that, I obsessed over it, using the hp materia and attacking my own characters to get it to work. I remember getting three characters to 7,777 before the Emerald Fight but I cant remember what happened. I think I blacked out and lost all memory of the Lucky 7 trick until just today... The best thing to do is get the last two hp digits to 77 and then use potions to get up to 7,777. Doesn't work mate. If you have 3 characters with 7777 hp before the battle they collectively only make 64 hits rather than 192 - which sucks. So it's best to have Nanaki (fastest attack) at 7777 and the others at 9999 with 2 materia each. Then wait for Aire Tam Storm. With Nanaki attacking first; Emerald's hp is nearly halved in 2 minutes. Quite nice really. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Really high strength? You must mean 255 otherwise it will be 2000ish. As for Missing Score; do you have lots of high AP materia equipped with it?
Plus two hero drinks - they're the best! -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Wow you know you can just edit posts?
Get hero drinks at the Gold Saucer. They're essential almost. I read a good tip somewhere, except that it goes against a no-materia fight against Emerald... Underwater materia continues to gain AP from battles so get one of them with masses of AP for Barret's Missing Score. I quite like that actually. Although every time I fight Emerald these days it's single Cloud, Buster Sword, Bronze Bangle, no Accessory and no materia. Did I mention that it is the first time you fight him? Therefore no W-Item. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Moderator Edit Please do not say it is okay unless you are in a position to back it up. It is the job of the moderation team, not you. -R51 The Emerald Challenge will begin in 10 days time... Me and my friend (EX-SOLDIER on this forum) are going to do three different battles. The winner is the person who does each in the shortest time. 1- 3 man battle against Emerald the first possible time you can fight him 2 - Cloud with Buster/Bronze/no materia/no accessory first time you can fight him 3 - Single character first time you can fight him On 3, my friend is going with Nanaki... I think I know what he's up to. Howling Moon with Ribbon equipped will juice his stats with no beserk. Then he can kick serious arse. What do you think? Quote (sweetdude @ 7th May 2006 10:37) Have 9,999hp with all characters and two materia each Keep them at that throughout the fight by constantly using x-potions from Wutai (I have no W-Item) As Emerald uses Aire Tam Storm it will damage me by 2,222hp therefore each character will have 7,777hp Lucky 7s... I tried that method and i beat emmy wep in 9:18 ![]() I just noticed something when watching the cloud video, when the screen changes the time decreases by about 4 or 5 minutes and the second time it changes cloud's limit gauge isn't full anymore but is near full. Yeah there's loads of inconsistencies in those videos. I don't know/care if they're legit but that's one of the parts which is dodgy. Thanks for complimenting me on the strategy. It's actually been overtaken (many a time) by new ones though... Like have Nanaki with 7777 at the start because he's the fastest attacker - I think? I've still got no hope of beating EX-SOLDIER's 28 seconds... but I'll try. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. There's no point in having three characters at 7777. They only get 64 hits between them. He should've put Vincent at 7777 because he's the fastest attacker (I think). But yeah it sounds good I'll look forward to watching it.

In my opinion, you just need 3 Enemy' skill materias, with 2 blue magics each: Mighty Guard and White Wind. My party was Cloud, Tifa and Yuffie, with Level 4 Limits breaks, and around 4000 HP minimum, and in Fury status. Emerald will not kill you with its laser if you got your characters on Shell status, though I've noticed its laser have a dispel effect..so you must keep doing Mighty guard and White Wind for healing. When he open its wings with those 5 annoying materia-like things, you must use your limits breaks, to get rid of all the 5 materia things as soon as you can. So you can prevent him to release its Big Bang Attack, or Aire tam Storm, which you can survive if you got 4 or 5 materias per character if you got +6000 HP. You can win if you keep doing 2 white winds and ocassionaly Mighty guard, at crucial moments. ( actually you can use megaelixirs instead of White winds...but that's cheating for me
![]() I've noticed two things while fighting Emerald Weapon: 1) After receiving +500000 damage points, he cast Aire tam Storm, no matter if you destroyed its 5 materias-like things. That's mean you can't equip all the materia you want. I'll say 4 materias if you got 6000 Hp like I said earlier, at least with one character. 2) This really is more a question: Emerald got 1000000 HP. I damaged him with two Knights of Round Table attacks, then I ran. And then I fought again, and he gave me the impression he got only around 600000 ( Because KOTR attacks i did previously before I ran away), and not 1000000 HP. You think this is actually true? I killed him really quick, and before I expected because of this. I know because I was doing some maths on that fight on how much damage I did to him, and I estimated his HP were 500000-700000 only. I wish I could confirm it...it just gave me that impression. It could be easily proven if a lucky 7 character fights Emerald and then run, and then enter again, and then run, and then enter again. You know, because 7777*64=497728 damage. ![]() -------------------- "Its no cheating if you don't get caught" |

I've always just gone with what people have said (Emerald hp = 1 mil) so you could be right. I've never personally counted his hp. I never thought to hurt him then run. Does his hp not refill? If it's true, Emerald is officially the easiest boss in the game - if you have enough time.

Yea you make a good point there if that's true then people could say that they beat it in like 10 secs by continously running from it. Quote (sweetdude @ 7th May 2006 05:37) Yeah Mime, Quadra Magic, KotR (boo) and the other materia in the secret caves you can get as soon as you get the highwind; with a little chocobo breeding. As for keeping the materia low, certainly. If fact this is essential to my tactic: Have 9,999hp with all characters and two materia each Keep them at that throughout the fight by constantly using x-potions from Wutai (I have no W-Item) As Emerald uses Aire Tam Storm it will damage me by 2,222hp therefore each character will have 7,777hp Lucky 7s... Maybe it's just me, but how would you get 9999 without any HP Plus materia? |

You can't. You equip an HP Plus as one of two materia you MUST equip. Does that make sense?
