The S in my name stands for "Sailor". So my full SN is actually "Sailor Charon". (Which is taken from the anime "Sailor Moon".) I've used this name ever since I got an internet connection and started posting on message boards. (Sense of tradition, I guess. And it's easier for people to recognize me.) Though recently, I've shortened it to "S. Charon" so people wouldn't see it and think of me as this crazy Sailor Moon fangirl. Since I'm not as big of a fan as I was 4 years ago.

"Super Moogle" is just a little something I dreamed up on a whim, and its meaning is fairly uncomplicated. I just substituted the "man" in Superman with "moogle", and I had it. Whee.

To this day, I regret not coming up with Bat Moogle instead. happy.gif

For the record, I so made the first topic about why people had their handles back before DF got set back -400 odd posts. Yeah, now that I feel all good about myself...

Uhh, well, Kappa the Imp just kinda sounded cool at the time. I wanted to be some Moogle handle, but that was used to death, so I went the original route towards "Kappa," and who knows how I got there. What it means is "Kappa" is a name and "the Imp" is a title.

Well, it's mostly from FFIV. I guess that inbetween stage Cecil was at between Dark Knight and Paladin at Mt Ordeals. I feel like I'm fighting that battle all the time user posted image
Later, I came to find out there was a certain type of knight in DragonLance called Dark Paladin. I don't know what they're about, all I know is a summary from the back of one of the books. The Dark Paladin mentioned was Steel Brightblade, a very bad guy, and disgrace to his father user posted image

I'm obsessed with dragons (as you can probably tell by my avatar). In books that have dragons in them, I've noticed three categories that their names fall into: A) names that are derived from some other language (usually Latin), or are just plain cool-sounding; cool.gif "word" names, like Onyx, Dart, or Cyan Bloodbane (yes, I read DragonLance too smile.gif); C) or names that are corruptions of words. Names that fall into this third category often seem to have something to do with fire. So one day I was just sort of sitting around and thinking about stuff, and playing with the sounds of words to try to come up with a decent-sounding dragon name. So I thought of the word Cinder, and messed around with the letters until it became Syndarr. Kinda hokey, I guess, but I like it.

For a while, my handle was Caterpillar Girl. This comes from a song by The Cure, called "The Caterpillar". My best friend made me listen to it, and after the song was over, she dubbed me "Caterpillar Girl" because she said the name described me perfectly. I was quite pleased. happy.gif

Before that, I was known as Tanaquil Furrfoot. This was another reflection of my DragonLance fanhood, although I was a much bigger fan back then than I am now. Tanaquil Furrfoot is a character I made up; those of you who have read the books know that every kender claims to have an "Uncle Trapspringer". Well, I decided that Trapspringer Furrfoot should have a daughter, and so Tanaquil was born. I got the name Tanaquil from another book called "Black Unicorn", by Tanith Lee.

And before that, in my early Internet days, I called myself The Heroine. The reason for this was that I used to frequent gaming forums, and loved to help people who were stuck in one game or another. One of my favorite series at the time (still is) was Sierra's Quest for Glory, and the protagonist is never given a name beyond what the player chooses to name him; he's just known as "The Hero". So I decided to take on a feminine version of that epithet.

I usually go by the name Vanrushal at the vast majority of other sites I visit, and many games I play online. Van is a character or mine, a crazed yet ever-so-sexy (and evil!) vampire.

However, sometimes I feel the need to be a little closer to home, and take up the name Vei. Vei is a hybrid of myself and my own fantasy version of myself: a really learned and powerful yet extremely isolated sorceror (who also goes by the name Vei). Basically, the distinction is that I would come to a site such as this, whereas Vei would be mastering some insanely powerful spell. You guys get the "fun" version. biggrin.gif

The three parts of my screen name (completely not my real name) represent different values.

Glenn: this refers to Glenn (Frog) from Chrono Trigger (NOT Glenn of Chrono Cross). It specifically points to Glenn's sense of duty and honor, as well as the determination he displayed after regaining the legendary sacred (I say it's sacred) sword, the Masamune. (It's also because I like Lucca, and tend to be attracted to smart girls with glasses.)
Magus: this refers to Magus from CT. I believe that Magus, although apparently evil, is actually a good soul who was superficially corrupted by the evils of characters like Ozzie. In the end he defeats true evil by bringing down the Black Omen and Queen Zeal. But Magus struck me as a character who knows what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. He also had a lot of astute observations and great lines. Therefore he represents wisdom. (Incidentally, FFIV used the "wisdom" stat to determine black magic power, and Magus is a very powerful sorceror.)
Harvey: this refers to Cecil Harvey of FFIV. The Dark Knight who rebelled against his own dark nature and the evil fake king of Baron, to become an astonishingly powerful Paladin wielding the power of the light against evil. Cecil had both the courage and the morality to do so, and thus Harvey represents morality and courage.

For a time I used bulby01 (which is still my AIM sn), since I am also a Pokemon fan and I identify myself with the first pokemon I had--bulbasaur. I also considered referencing to Lance, pilot of Red Lion, from Voltron, for his strong sense of justice and willingness to risk rebellion in order to do the right thing, but I never came up with an idea original enough.

As a sidenote/addendum, in the RPG I'm working on, I am life and fire elemental, and my name is Glenn. However, a person with more wisdom than me, Erin, is the one chosen (by the brothers) to wield the Masamune. And so far as I have worked on it, it contains numerous references to Chrono Trigger and FFs IV and VI, as well as some other games.

I came up with the concept when I was a early teen and believed in the lack of control people have over others in anarchy. Without the intent or need to commit crime, without the need or intent to damage others you wouldn't need law and probly not much of a government. You wouldn't need a militia which was based on the defense or offense against other earthbound nations. Virtually everything could be done so long as people think rationally logicly and kind, disreguarding certain required amounts or unkindness or unfortunate incidents. Even then, if everyone thinks with logic, there wouldn't be a need for an authority, the masses would handle it.

Unfortunatly, people are ignorant and fearful in large masses. People are greedy and numb to the world. People are defensive and dishonest. People have beliefs that are bullshit and most people should be shot outright. Why am I saying such things when I am no better? Because I'd like for the world to be better. So while I was an Anarchist at heart, it's just a dream. I'm sure you could figure out the rest.

Its actually pretty intersting to see why people ahve such names. Like i had no idea what the 'S' of S. Charon meant. I still dotn as ive never even heard of Sailor Moon. Thank god im Scottish...

one downer: some of the more intresting names put my poor real-name based efforts to shame... sad.gif but at least 75% of my name is on EVERY keyboard with a 'Del' key happy.gif

MorgueN

A parody of Morgue and Morgan(real name). Was witty people liked the name and so I used it.

Gunnar Sabrefang

A Nordic name plus an added original name. He is a character for a comic I plan on drawing. Gunnar is the eternal smartass, loves to help people, is a knight in the name of God. Is well known for his unique sword Sabrefang. Created for his father when left the church. It was imbued with holy energies, but was never used and lost. Until Gunnar recovered it as well as rediscovering his destiny.

In 1999, I joined an ff7rpg as the character Elena. When I entered the chatroom, the leader did a whois and, probably recognizing the email or something, asked if I was the one going for Elena. I then changed my nickname to Elena99.

It was Little_Star for a while, because I love that song on the Romeo and Juliette soundtrack of the same name. Others I've used are Wildcat (did I ever get teased in school for that one, by a jerk that an online/rl friend leaked to) and, for a while, Terra_Brandford.

I've been Elena99 pretty much since 1999, however.

Well, I had thought up a witty thing to post on this message board, but I needed a screen name first. I'd just bought FF10, so i wrote Tidus, but that looked stupid, so i cut off the s and then put who? I don't remember if that was an illegal character or what, but I ended up taking off the question mark and it stuck.

Quick

It's a real life nickname. My last name is Iwicki (eye-wick-ee). It got shortened to I-wick or Wicky-Wicky (while doing a turn-table record swivel thing), then just to Wick. My friend accidentally called my Quick one time and so it was. I still get called by all of the above though.

BB

Well, my first name is Bryan, so that was kind of a factor. And I love bastetball, so that fits in. So I dunno know, it just kinda came into being.

To begin with, I used the nick Nico online, a corruption of my name (Nick). Once, just for a laugh, I posted around six posts in a row, with changing nicks (This was a board where you entered your nick every time you posted)

Nico
Nico again
Nico the Third
Once more Nico
Last time Nico
Nico 'did you really believe that' Annoyer.

I decided, from there, that I really liked the sound of Nico the Third, and stuck with that for quite a while. I then changed to Nickel Carbonate, because it's chemical formula is NiCO3.

After a while I realised this name sucked.

However, I made up the name Aelyn for a short story I wrote for GCSE. Aelyn was a dragonrider Elf. I really liked the name, and have since used that name for my main character in every game I played, along with using other Elf's names from that story for my other characters. When I realised Nickel Carbonate sucked, I switched to Aelyn, and have used that ever since (for around 3 years now)

Living Tribunal .. he is the all powerful, all knowing being that judges in the Multi-Universal Time Continuum in the Marvel Universal. He has been to the farthest reaches of every Dimension in the Space-Time Continuum, and is the closest thing to "GOD" that one will ever know.

-Quick Marvel Reminiscence-
Silver Surfer confronted him during Thanos' grasping of the Infinity Gauntlet .. the outcome was that Living Tribunal gave Silver Surfer the back of his head, which is three faces with a cloak over over one, over half, and not cloaking the other.. Silver Surfer touched the back of his head and was given, if for only a short moment, Godliness.

Basically, the Living Tribunal judges objectively. I try to do the same, but it doesn't seem to work all the time. Damn biasment!

Well, I should think it would be pretty obvious where mine came from, but, for those of you who haven't played FFVI, it's Edgar and Sabin's last name (twins). They are my two favorite characters in any FF game. Edgar first, and then Sabin.

This is the second Handle I have used in this Forum. The First was TTFofEM [translation: The Twisted Freak of the Empires Magic] which was shortened to Twisted_Freak, i was getting sick of explaining the acroynom to every second user. Anywho, the name came from a fic I wrote that has been lost to the annals of my hard drive. Mabe I should try to dig it out and post it.

Also, All my friends [and some enemies] back in high school used to call be Freak for "various" reasons [I have a very unique personality, a.k.a. I should be locked up in a mental ward].

I've had this nickname for about ten years now. Back in late 1993 or so (when I was 8) I used my initials for my nickname, CJM, but I found that pretty boring so I started to look for a change. I had read some of Edgar Allen Poe's stories, and one of my favorites was "The Tell-Tale Heart", where a murderer relates his version of how he killed an old man because of his "Evil Eye". I had also heard the word when reading a book about superstitions that people feared, and one of the chapters mentioned a malevolent spirit which was, of course, "The Evil Eye". I thought it was a pretty cool name, so I started using it when I used chat programs. It mostly got its start when WarCraft II First came out, before the battle.net edition, where the only multiplayer you could play was through TCP/IPs or through local networks. I used IRC to join channels with WarCraft players to find games (back then announcing your IP number without much of a thought was quite common) through the TCP/IP service. The name has stuck ever since. It's been my nick everywhere I've been. It has varied a little bit, with hyphens or underscores between my name because it may be taken elsewhere, but it's basically the same.

The "The" on the beginning of my name, however, was an accident because I forgot my password to my older CoN account. I didn't have a lot of posts and didn't wanna go through any hassle (if there was any) to get it back, so I just made a new account.

Ardy-ar-ar!

The summer 1999 came... and I, 13 year old boy, came across the anime series known as "Dejimon adobenchya" (Japanese phonetics for "Digimon adventure")
After seeing every episode of "...adventure" and "...adventure 02" for countless times I came over a polish fan-site... since I was working on a fic already, I put the name of the key charachter (although no hero) as my nick.
It was: Chaosmon
I made crude designs of him. He was supposed to look like a Slaadi (D&D. Creature of the plains of chaos) and be the kinda guy who didn't give damn about the fate of the world but pulverized anybody who dared bust up his freshly waxed floor.
I still hadn't found the colours for him.
I was kind of a metal freak then. I tried drawing him in a leather jacket.
It came to me: "BLACK AND SILVER!"
I made my chat name BlackSilver then.

Still, beacause of my forum nick, some people kept calling me Chaos and it stays that way with most anime freaks.

"Digimon Tamers" came around to my TV. An idea for a fic. "Black Silver"
I was playing Q3A and FFVI madly in that period.
I made my Callsign in Quake SilverMadman (everybody says I'm mad.)
Then, Around came something, that had a much better ring to it.

SilverMADUIN. Silver being my fave colour and Maduin the most awesome char in the game (for me tongue.gif)

I recently picked up a nickname that I consider fitting, and it comes from my favourite muppet.

It's Animal.

I'm also still called "mad", "freak" and "get away from her!"

I got Rufus because I thought it was a great name, plus it's in honor of my cat before he went to the catnip patch in the sky. Long is either Chinese or Japanese for Dragon (I think it's Chinese) and is the name of my favorite character in Jen's Strings of Fate webcomic. Check it out! Anyway, there you have it. It was either this or Rufus the Poet, and I know you can guess why on the end of that one.

(or is that an actual character?)

*wonders if there's a Sailor Uranus*

Anywho, "Blaze" originally came from the fact that I like to dye my hair red. The rest of it comes from the TV show/Movie HIGHLANDER, with Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod of the clan MacLeod, and in the movies with Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod. Blaze MacLeod has since become a character of his own in stories I write.

Odin, is obviously from FF games, but was originally from Norse mythology, he was the cheif of gods, badass, and had his lance 'Gungnir' that never missis.

BTW I am stunned I managed to get the title, in most forums its already taken.

Well, my name "doughnut" was a ripoff of one of my brother's names, "doughnutcop". My sn is heavily based on FF7, if it isn't obvious.

Yes, BlazeMacLeod of the clan MacLeod, there IS a Sailor Uranus. happy.gif

I originally went by Karanborg, taken from a game called Ogre Battle. Karanborg is a either a corruption of the legendary Irish sword Caladbolgh (from which Excalibur has its origins) or is Caladbolgh's Norse derivative. Not sure which one.

I figured Karanborg was too weird for some people, so I made up CrystalKnight because I was fascinated with Knights and Cecil's Crystal equipment in FF4.

Unfortunately, CrystalKnight sounded a bit... stupid... so I changed to RoyalKnight when I played a game called Subspace (now called Continuum).

Heh... I stopped playing Subspace, got interested in anime and Japanese in general, and made up Seinaru no Kishi. It was supposed to mean "Holy Knight" aka Paladin, but I screwed up the grammar. I later had a SeinaruKishi, but that's just for myself.

RoyalKnight was resurrected when I lacked a screenname that I people could actually pronounce in a chat room/form. It's stuck since. I take it to symbolize the nobility, chivalry, and loyalty to thy liege, which is mostly lost to the modern world now. sad.gif Yet... I'll continue to uphold these values despite their lack of social support.

Recently, I've been using Keito / KeitoTsukishi / KeitoTsukishiro for various personas I'm gonna be playing. Different variations for different character lengths I'm allowed in the registration forms. happy.gif A friend suggested the name when I was doing a fan-fiction roleplay for Rurouni Kenshin.
