All the comments about Vincent being so cool... Yeah, he's cool, but it isn't 'cause he's 'Gothic'. I think that his past and reasons behind joining are cooler, as is his gun and his limit breaks. His 'Gothic' appearence? Meh.

Tifa's oversized chest... ARGH! EVERYONE I've talked to about FF7 (and the parties you make) says "But what about Tifa?" And you just KNOW they're talking about her friggin' boobs. They're HUGE! GET OVER IT! You know they're big because she's hanging onto a cliff by them in one of the final FMV sequences. And what's with all the hentai about her anyway? There's no need to make them any bigger!

Cloud's only 'dating' Tifa 'cause he wants her boobs.

Nice rant. I actually laughed when I ran that FMV through my head I wonder if Square knew they were going to have such a huge (no pun intended) effect on teenage boys libido's? Now we know why it's isn't rated E for....... "Everyone"

The worst fan obsession of FF VII is definitely Sephiroth in general. Sure, his character and concept is pretty neat in general, but no fictional character deserves to be worshipped the way the infamous bishie-badass is. I still can't explain it.

I think FFVII is too over-rated in general which intensifies FFVII fanboy/girl-ism. Lasz makes an excellent point about Sephiroth. Don't get me wrong, I do like FFVII but I am nowhere near a "fanboy". However, I do consider myself a "fanboy" of FFVIII but not to the extent that I'd want to date or be like any of the characters.

I'd like to point out I feel this poll misses out on almost every fanboy related madness the game suffers from. For example, the buster sword, the masamune, Sephiroth, Cloud himself, to a much lesser, possibly even non-existent extent people not liking Barret and Vincent for thier use of firearms , and of course,

Due to the absence of these notable instances and many others, I'd have to null vote. I personally think that Sephiroth is a heavily overrated character. For starters, he is merely an enhanced human being until the Nibelheim Incident, he's never seen until the end of the game technically speaking, and he ultimately is a failure. In addition, his return in AC is simply a cheap and boring effort to pander to fanboys and forther Gokuize him. I feel he was a far more effective enemy when you felt were not fighting him, but fighting his legend.

Still, I also regard someone who would torture people inhumanely and not actually kill all that many people himself as more evil than someone such as Sephiroth, who is only seen as evil becuase of his slightly odd hobby of wanting to blow up the planet. Sephiroth's fanboys perefer sheer brute power over cunning and planning on the whole, which is another reason why I rather dislike his fans. Had the enemy not been Sephiroth, but more his shadow and his legend, I might actually have watched Advent Children (Though it's so simple you can read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia after you revert the vandalism where someone has put 'penis' as every second word to know it inside out, or leave it in to make it sound more intellegent.)

Sephiroth is the worst craze, yeah. I figure the only reason he was killing everybody left right and centre during the game was because

he wasn't the actual Sephiroth. Because he was a mutated Jenova arm, he could do things that the real Sephiroth could not.

Regarding the flashback sequence to Nibelheim... When you see Sephiroth fight, he does loads of damage and uses really powerful magic. So what? He's level 50. I do that sort of damage when I'm at level 50.

Yeah. I've mastered most of my materia when I'm level 50 too

Sephiroth, you've got a character like Kuja - he looks better in girl's clothes than most of the female cast. He's wearing a girl's trenchcoat, dammit! He has very feminine looks, and a very girly air to him (after all the hacking and slashing, of course). It was like Square went into the minds of every fanboy and fangirl, pulling out ideas that might be good for a villain, and created Sephiroth.

Sephiroth, a cross-dressing, insanely long sword wielding, long haired, mildly feminine candidate for Yaoi. Who created this character? Seriously.

About the Masamune... They did what? Get a katana, make the blade about four times its normal length and make it so that only one person can use it? Bleargh. There's no reason for Sephiroth to have a weapon like that (all the other characters have reasons for their weapons). Also, it's length could be indicating Sephiroth's compensating for something in another region. *cough*

Man. Too many things to cover. Here's a few though.

- Calling Red XIII "Nanaki." The game names him Red XIII, even though one important NPC calles him Nanaki. It's a storyline thing, not the character's in-game name. End of story.

- "OMG CHARAKTUR 'X' IS SO COOOOL!!!" Also, so fictionaaaal. Go out and idolize a real person, if you feel so insecure as to require a model to base your life on. Oh, and for the record? Fictional characters are not cool when you socialize with real people. Talk about something else.

- "OMG FF7/(unrelated)EarthBound/CT IS TEH MASTURPIECE!!" No, they're not. They're all full of flaws, as well as good points. Broaden your horizons a little, because you still have a lot to learn.

- "You should've been able to play as ... / the storyline should've gone like ... / etc" Yes. But you can't, and it didn't.

- "LOL TIFA IS HOT" No, actually, she isn't. When your balls'll have dropped and you'll start talking to real women, maybe even getting close to some of them, you'll wonder what ever possessed you to obsess over a fictional character. You might even realize you're obsessing over her boobies because everyone says big boobs are sexy, even though you don't feel particularly strong about either way.

- "OMG FF8 SUX WTF ORPHANS???" Damn straight.

couldn't have said it better myself, even though FFVII is my favorite FF, I can't stand the fanboys/girls they all obsess over certain things that were far from being the main contributing factor to VII being so good, my least favorite Craze is definatley the sephiroth worship. so blown out of proportion it's disgusting. And Laz I can't explain it either.

This is the biggest reason why I don't appreciate FF7. I used to be a fanboy back in '03, but once I got FF6 and FF5 I was convinced to return back to my SNES and continue on some other forgotten favorites such as Mega Man X and Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension.

I think the worst fanboy craze are Sephiroth, Cloud, long swords, and Tifa's breasts.

I never liked Sephiroth or Cloud that much. My favorite character was always Cid and he was an average rated character if I can recall. I believe the only reason why Cloud, Sephiroth, Squall, Seifer, Tidus (I dunno, maybe) are the most craved by fanboys is because of one reason: unnatural swords\gunblades.

Yo, I hate to break it to the fanboys, but there are much better villains than Sephiroth. Look at Golbez, Exdeath, Gilgamesh, and Kefka. They didn't have long swords but they were still remembered and loved by so many old school fans. And by old school, I mean it as in people who are playing the right games, and not some fanboy modern 3d bullcrap.

Well, there's fans and fanboys. I am an FFVII fan. It's a great game, but it's nowhere near the greatness of several other FFs, and it certainly isn't a gift from God or something. I just hate it when Cloud and Seph fanboys are trolling my Wiki and jumping around with their bad grammar.

I think it's a tie between everything everyone has said, and the Cid/Shera pairing. Maybe it's not AS big a craze, but it's certainly something. Seriously, who cares if they're in love or not, they don't say anything either way in the game, and Shera doesn't appear in AC at all! But that's just my opinion.

I've never really cared. It's just a game, and people can like what they want. I used to be the same way (bashing all people that like FFVII), until I realized how utterly retarded it all was. (Is.) If I like any other game, does that make me a fanboy of it too? There really isn't much sense in it. Many people in this site could be considered 'fanboys' or 'fangirls' of the other games, I don't really understand it.

In contrast, I've only seen a mild fan-following of Cid and Vincent. And it goes without saying that Barret has like NO fan-following. I will not even go into Cait Sith here.

Anyone who doesn't want Aeris to kick that bucket should probably realize that it's a game after all--don't even think about trying to date Tifa/Yuffie/Aeris.

Seriously, some people have trouble separating reality and fiction.

Not to mention, with finality, that FFVII is seriously, significantly, and unreasonably overrated.

Believe it or not that does happen naturally for a vewry small amount of women, to have fit bodies and breasts the size of their head. But rmember it's a very small amount. and yes, it does happen naturally.

It does tick me off that tifa's are idolized so much, but it is still not as bad as sephiroth worship. pretty soon we may have people come knocking door to door called 'Jenova's Witnesses".

Well that's an exxageration, but it is annoying, every time I hear, "The best FF is FFVII Sephiroth is so cool!. The masamune.... So long... His Black leather clothing... His long silk hair..." and as I'm overhearing thses guys I'll bet you at the same time several girls who also overheard the conversation thought these guys were gay.

I've always called Red XIII Nanaki. First time I saw the game was at my freinds when he was at Cosmo Canyon. I've always named him Nanaki because... Red XIII just isn't as good. Plus I wanted to do something different to my mate; we were really young and he kept saying I was copying him by buying the game in the first place. I wouldn't say it's a fanboy thing - I just have never called him Red XIII.

As for Tifa, her body is far out of proportion. Therefore her boobs are probably implants. I'm guessing the Mideel doctor did them for the final FMV when Tifa is looking after Cloud in the clinic; leaving Cid to do everything. Would've cost her a bomb...

What I have to say to this is: Grow a pair, ask someone and MAYBE you'll actually see a real pair!

The things fanboys do that piss CSM off:

-Think Cloud's spikey hair is cool. Everyone knows Akira Toryiama is the only one who can do spikey hair properly (Crono mainly, but Goku to a lesser extent (I'm not a Dragon Ball fan)).

-The Buster Sword. FF isn't about weapons that look crazy, except as ultimate weapons. Up until this point, all weapons were straight forward.

-Sephiroth. He's cool, sure, but he's not as godlike as everyone says. And compare him to earlier villains and he can't compare. He's not evil enough with his laughs. And he's a prettyboy. And he's goth. Which are both negative in my book.

-Aeris' death. I personally didn't notice Aeris' death. I never cried during that moment or any FFVII moment. I never liked her.

-People who think Tifa is hot. She's NOT REAL! If you want to get with someone, work out and socialize.

-People who think Yuffie is hot. This is actually worse than Tifa, since Yuffie sucks and Tifa doesn't.

-People getting excited over all the FFVII sequels. Square should stop wasting their time with this stuff and get to something new.

Now, to be fair, I will list some of the things I think there need to be more fans of:

-The vs. Shinra war. This was an enjoyable part of the game for me. I love sticking it to the man.

-Barret. He's probably the coolest FFVII character, since he comes right out of a movie.

There is no denying that FF7 is an excellent game but I believe what is very overated is ... nothing. Oh I guess I'm just an annoying fanboy.

Tifa's chest is a bit too large though.

Jack Bauer. XD He could make Sephiroth cry... and with half an episode left to find the materia that will restore Aeris, too.

First of all, I do really, really like FF7. But listening to mounds and mounds of praise for it, and getting my hopes up that playing it would be a life-altering experience (sarcasm) kinda ruined it for me. And I was really disappointed in the ending.

Having said that, aside from what else has been said, which I agree with, and share the urge to roll eyeballs and point and laugh at....

~ The whole Advent Children craze. Or worse, people who think FF7's recent plethora of merchandice somehow proves that it is, indeed, The Greatest RPG of All Time. When I talk "FF7 characters," I really don't include Kadaj and the rest of the Pretty Silverhaired Boyclub.

Actually one fanboyish thing does annoy me slightly. I'm a hypocrite for writing this since I call Red XIII "Nanaki" but all the same. Touph Ring is just that, not Tough Ring. And it's Ungarmax, not Angermax. Even if it is a proven translation error I could never call Barret's most satisfying limit Angermax. The good, unique yet odd names are part of what makes it an unusual and appealing game.

The sephiroth fire scene... everyone, EVERYONE, knows it and they all think its SOOO cool. Considering that he was wearing leather, his suit would have been fused to his body... imagine that!

This isn't for making fun of people that like FFVII... i know for a fact that both me and Demon Fox fell in love with ffvii (dont deny it) and i'm sure most other ppl did. we're just laughing at the FFVII obsessed
