I guess i can be considered a n00b for saying this, but i have a question about ramza learning ultima. Does he need to be a squire at the time to learn it from the assasins?

Yes. He must be a Squire. He must also survive the blast.

And it can only be done against Celia/Lede or an Ultima Demon on chapter 4; Limberry Castle, St. Murond, or the final battle, but by the final battle it'll be too late.

chapter 4, tactics is a one disc game wink.gif. I've found the best way to do it, or at least the most reliable for myself, is when you fight elmdor and his assassins in limberry, get them to cast it on another character, and then move ramza into the threat range and let it hit him.

I'm not positive, but I don't think so. Whenever a monster drops a crystal and one of your characters picks it up, they just automatically heal and don't have the option of learning a monster attack. I assume that's how it is with the Ultima Demons, but I'm not sure.
