I've created an unstoppable Locke! He can beat Chupon every time in the colloseum, and every battle in the game is wiped out within seconds. Here's the plan:

Don't level up Locke at all until you get to the mine cart. I had Locke at level 5. Equip Locke with the Str. boosting esper, Bismark. Now as you progress through the game, don't unequip Locke with the esper until he reaches 101 vigor. (Locke's initial vigor is 37, so it will take 32 level-ups.) Now, you should be in the WoR and gotten Odin. Equip that on Locke for the rest of the levels. (if you want to max out HP and MP too on the way you can, I did.) At level 99, I have 101 Vigor and 95 Speed. Now, equip Genji Glove, Offering as relics, and AtmaWeapon and ValiantKnife as weapons. You now have a powerful "jedi bandit" who can deal 79,992 damage per turn, regardless of HP level, enemy defense or even whether you're in the front or back row! It doesn't matter what row you're in anyway if you hit before any enemy can even target you 95% of the time. Just have your other characters with high MBlock% and a Back Guard relic to prevent back and side attacks. I used everyone else as mages, since Locke uses most of my good fighter equipment.

An alternative would be to equip the Illumina instead of the ValiantKnife. Though you won't do 9999 with the illumina (perhaps you could with 128 Vigor?), you will still take out Chupon in one round, and you will get a very nice MBlock% boost, for that rare case you actually do get attacked. I prefer the other method, cause I like to see a good clean "9999" 8 times in a row, but the Illumina method is most likely better for invincibility. You decide!

Also note you don't HAVE to have perfect stat increases. Having 20 lower vigor or speed than I have probably won't lower Locke's efficiency enough to make him defeatable. This was on my perfect game file, cause I am a crazed lunatic as it has been pointed out by other members, and decided to play a perfect game.

On a side note, I'd try those "low level, no magic, no equipment" etc games but I am not a fan of constantly resetting and reloading my game. I gave it a try in FFIX getting the Excalibur II AND still trying for a perfect game in the process, and I quit halfway through cause I had already taken up too much time and wouldn't have made it (I was 2 hours ahead of the walkthrough's recommended game time when I last checked)...that aggrovated me too much, and I stopped doing those challenges.

If this could have been posted on another thread, I apologize for my laziness. Redirect me to that thread so I can post it there and you can get rid of this topic tongue.gif

that's amazing. so you can wipe out Kefka in one shot.

Why only Locke though. can't other atma weapon users be able to do this as well?

Well, if I recall, he has that Valiant Knife, which bypasses defence I believe. Although alot of characters with the right stat boosts and equipment at higher levels can kill Chupon.

Entirely correct. Both of those weapons ignore defense, meaning they have the potential to do massive damage.

But 8x 9999 damage is excessive. Enemies have a max of 65,536 HP. You only need to do an average of ~8200 damage per hit to kill anything in a single attack. In fact, Kefka "only" has 63000 HP. That's under 8000 per hit.

Atma weapon / valiant knife only give Locke the advantage of ignoring defense. Some of your characters won't have a problem pulling off 9999 by the end of the game, so it becomes a bit of a matter of preference...

true, 9,999 x8 is unnecessary to beat Chupon....but I impress all my friends with it tongue.gif note why I added the Illumina method, for those who don't care for overkill and just want to be all around invincible.
If your priority is invincibility, Locke is not the best choice. My opinion of the best equipment setup for invincibility by MBlock% (on Terra or Celes) is illumina (+50% MBlock), Paladin Shield (+40% MBlock), Genji Helmet, and Force Armor (+30% MBlock). and then Offering and Ribbon relics. This will make them immune to all status effects with 127% MBlock. I prefer Terra because she has the morph ability, which costs nothing to use and is extremely useful, especially in boss battles.
Another good method would be the Gau+Snow Muffler+a highly defensive rage such as Magic Pot. This is going into pure defensive and not so much offensive, however.

Yeah. That's at the point where things don't matter anymore and anyone can dish out that kind of damage without breaking a sweat. -CSM
