I don't think the problem is him dying so much as him coming back just 1 dungeon away from his death (depending on wether you do the side quests or not.)
IMHO, when a character dies, that character should STAY dead or be brought back far, far into the game. Make it some well-thought out twist (say, that character was working with the bad guys and staged his death all along for instance, so bloody long as they actually give you hints while the character's with you (the kind you notice the second time you play through) instead of springing it on you like some insane deus ex machine-in-the-box) but don't just do it because "O LAR IT SI COOL CARACTURE FANSURVICE!!!!!" Better yet, don't bloody kill off a character in the first place if you just intend to revive him/her five minutes later just for the sake of drama. Put some more thought into doing something really provoking. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Not that he had much character anyways, but this was the equivalent of a reset button. And nothing is worse than that reset button. While I might agree that Crono shouldn't have died in the first place, I actually don't have a problem with the way his "revival" was handled. Hell, they had been jumping from one era to the next in a matter of minutes, anyway, so why couldn't Crono's rescue (which it really was) happen in the same expedient manner, too? The resources were already available and waiting. That's my take, anyway.

I can't really say that I minded too much when he died. It seemed people around him mourned a bit more realistically unlike some games I've played.
'Oh no! He died! Well, let get back to the plot.' While this whole part of the game was very predictable, it actually made you feel that the characters did care for each other and weren't just aquaintances travelling together. Besides, this is the first time in the game that you are not required to have him in your party. -------------------- "Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard; be evil." |

Put some more thought into doing something really provoking. I totally agree with this! there should be some thought out plot twist, like in the game Baten Kaitos, where chrono comes back eventually as the final or second finla boss, and the more you level him up, the harder the fight will be, but you have to level him up in order to beat the third final boss, so its like a character and player plot twist Awesome idea alex!!!lolthirdpersonlol -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. Spoiler...tags...
Normally, in a reasonably average plot, if a character dies for some reason or another, they should generally stay dead. At least I think so. For time-travelling plots, I expect some course of action that would try to fix the matter, because if you have the ability to travel back in time and don't use it to save his/her life, that's just foolish. Avoiding using it would probably look worse if you didn't try pull it off with some panache. Even cliches like that can be twisted to seem fresh. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I didn't mind the whole dying thing, though the revival could have been a bit better.
As a side-note, when Janus first says that one of my people would die, I thought they ment Ayla, because Ayla had to be in your party before (I didn't realize you could switch her out again at that point), the 3rd character could be anyone else, and of course they wouldn't kill off the main character now would they? ![]() -------------------- |

If you ever post a thread that could be a spoiler for whatever subject you're talking about, you can't have the spoiler in the thread title and you have to have a spoiler warning in the thread title. It should have been played out more, but I thought it was good that they killed him off (for a while, anyway). But still, it was a little stupid...
