Square-Enix, kindly throwing fans who are keenly awaiting the Nintendo DS remake of Final Fantasy III yet another bone, have unleashed a veritable miscellany of screenshots and concept art, as well as battle info and interviews (albeit in Japanese) packaged altogether in the humble form of brand new, piping hot scans. Among the screens featured are cinematic and gameplay stills which appear to push the handheld's graphical capabilities to the utmost limit, feasibly suggesting that the elongated amount of the title's time in development has been proficiently spent. But as such, future launch dates remain unconfirmed.
On a related note, additional information and content can now be viewed at the newly accessible Final Fantasy III DS official website. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. From some of the artwork it looks like there are three female characters and one male?

Quote From some of the artwork it looks like there are three female characters and one male? to me if that's true it doesn't matter, but to me it looked more like 2 guys 2 girls. Also on one of the magazine scans you could see a white mage sprite hood up and a white mage hood down, like in tactics, which could mean different sprites per gender, or it could be like FFV where all sprites are unique in some way. No matter what I can't wait. I'm saving up so I can buy that and a DS when it comes out -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Quote which could mean different sprites per gender, or it could be like FFV where all sprites are unique in some way. Likely both may be true. Though to be honest, while gender shouldn't matter at all, I find I prefer male characters. That's mainly because the chicks in RPGs always get on my nerves the way they're written and also partly because I would just rather have an all male party. Personal preferences and all that. I just hope the characters are still generic as far as personality goes (leaves more to the imagination). -------------------- Quote Do you think we're forever? |

Quote (Zeromus_X @ 26th April 2006 12:06) Of course they will. Square-Enix is no bunch of idiots, and they know better than any of us that any game with the word "Final Fantasy" on the cover is going to sell like hotcakes. Was there ever really any doubt? -------------------- |

Especially if they SMELLED like hotcakes.[/homestarrunner] But no, seriously, I'm pretty stoked about this release. Granted I don't have a DS, but I would consider buying one considering all the cool games slated to be released, as well as some pretty cool ones that have already been released. III is actually the only one I haven't played yet (aside from X and Tactics). So I'd be all for it. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

OK, first of all, you need to play some Tactics, Sabes. Second of all, I too am also really excited about this release. FF IIIj is far and away the best FF game on the NES, and the way they seem to be reinventing the game and character designs (it looks like two of the onion kids are female now...) could even suggest some character development of sorts. Another reason why the PSP only wishes it was as awesome as the DS.

I am kinda dissapointed that the orphans aren't all male now, but I guess they have to modernize it by giving 'em character development and such. *sigh*
The Tactics artist's pictures sure are purty. Edit: Well, unless two of them are all just really really bishie or something. This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 27th April 2006 01:47 -------------------- |
