Is there a way to leave a battle with out actually winning? I was just wondering because all the other FF's i've played had a way to get out of those unwanted battles?

If not do you think that they should have placed a way to get out like a Move-find square were it asks you if you want to leave the battle?

In my oppinyan they should have persoming that there isn't a way to get out of the battle.

(Pls forgive the spelling mistakes)

There is no escaping. Ever. I find that kind of death trap mentality most satisfying in a game.

Or push the magic L1/R1/Select/Start magic buttons. I always use them before seeing my character dying from the last hit. sleep.gif

I agree, I actually like the fact that you can't just run from the battle.

It builds character.......

Really? No way? I thought I remember seeing an 'Exit Battle' option or something. But, enough people here have said there isn't, so it's probably true. However, I too am not a fan of running from battles, so yeah, I kinda' like the 'live or die' option there.

FFTA has an exit battle option, if I do recall. After so many hundreds of hours, the obligatory battles just seem like a natural part of the game, and when you can murder enemies with a plethora of beefed-up characters, they seem like minor roadblocks. At least to me.

One thing I love about FFT is the non-escapable battles because it prompts me to save after almost everytime I fight or buy things because one random battle will be a walk in the park while the next random battle nets me the game over screen, so I save after every battle or every shop. Other games, though I'd be too non-chalant about saving and end up losing hours of gameplay. NOT with FFT tongue.gif .

I think they should have had an escape battle option because I once played for 12 hours on a saturday 6 months ago and was then killed. I haven't played that game since.

All FFT veterans have felt the sting at least once of an hour or so of gameplay... or a lucky boss battle that fell our way... totally wiped out due to the lack of an escape function. If you haven't felt that kind of disappointment from a videogame, you aren't a gamer. It's practically a rite of passage. happy.gif

Man, dont be complaining to me. I played FFT and tried to beat it without saving it... It was going good till the Riovanes castle fight. Man, he schooled me because I wasn't a very high level... So, 6 hours is nothing compared to the 13 I wasted trying that (that includes a bajillion random battles blink.gif) And to the one who quit the game, pick it back up and join the FFT club, please? You'll enjoy it.

Agreed, having an option for leaving battle in tactics would be useful, like the 3 hours i spent trying to find female theives to charm my male summoner, but all in all, once your a higher level, random battles are more or less just "roadblocks" on your way, a pain but not really difficult, I was able to just reset the silly thing until i found them.

I dont think that an escape option would have even really been worth putting into the game, if they did, I cant even really see myself using it all that much anyway.

Legend of mana has a battle system that plays more like a hack and slash, but you cant run from battles in that game either, and like FFT, there is really no point to being able to run in the first place.

Personally I think they did well in deciding not to put the feature in biggrin.gif

Escaping is for the faint of heart...remember, you're out to change the world, are ya gonna let some little inconvience like a berserk, stupid strong goblin stop you? Fall in Soldier!

There you have it, my motivational speech to all the escapists out there.

I think FF Tactics would be better if you can escape from battles...sometimes you can get sick of them, or the monotony can consume your motivation. I do love battles, but I'm not a fanatic.... laugh.gif

I think Thieves and Ninjas should be the only ones able to escape. Otherwise, stay there and suffer BEYOTCH! I think that would makes things alot fair.

No escaping for me, win or die trying, that works best in my opinion.

It's called Final Fantasy Tactics, folks.

Tactics. Key word.

You won't always overpower the enemy you face with the benefit of huge levels or amazing weaponry. Sometimes, you'll face a *gasp* challenge. Sometimes you'll be outnumbered, outpowered, out everything...... and you will have to think in order to survive. That is what tactics are for. Escaping? Piss on that.
