What amazing things have you done on FF games, on accident, or other things?
I killed Emmy on the first move with Kitten Sith. Enough said. ![]() -------------------- |

I completed FF1 on the NES without saving.
In fact, I had to: my battery had died so saving was no longer possible. ![]() Took me about a week (with many breaks, of course) to lead my party of two fighters, a white mage, and a black mage through the game. Nowadays this would be impossible as there probably isn't an NES in existence which can stay on longer than an hour anymore. I also practically gave away FF4 and 6, the original cartridges, to a friend. "But it's worth money!" I hear the fans cry - yeah... like, what? $65? $80 with the box and manual? Maybe more? Sure, that's good money, but it's not something worth going nuts over. "And what about the pride of having THE original carts? ![]() ![]() Still, I suppose people would consider giving away two original carts to be amazing, or just plain crazy, if they're into that sort of thing. Meh. Dunno where my CT cart will end up 10 years from now. Probably in the hands of a snobby little kid who doesn't know how to appreciate 2D gaming. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

This isn't an FF game, but I suppose it fits regardless.
Just now, for the hell of it, I tried playing an arcade fighting game one-handed (King of Fighters 2002.) Why? Dunno. I wanted to know what it'd be like. I surprised myself by beating my first opponent with Robert despite such a handicap... then died against Chris the next round. Next I tried Kyo. Got to round 2, died (I think it was Goro?) The hardest thing was pulling off his moves with one hand (quarter circle + A, quarter circle + A, quarter circle + A) Figured I'd try one last time with Andy. I beat my first opponent, trashed her in fact. Moved on to round 2. Then 3. Then 4. All the way to the mini-boss encounter with Angel. Then my final "regular" battle with Robert. And the very final battle, which I nearly managed to get through (even with two hands, that's quite a feat, if you're any familiar with SNK's humongous, imposing, all-powerful last bosses - Igniz anyone?) All with one hand, no continues. Daaaamn, but can we programmers ever work our lil' fingers! ![]() Don't think I'll be pulling that off again for a little bit. But it was quite a fun challenge, and I managed to pull off Andy's SDM (quarter circle back, half circle forward, punch) one-handed easily enough. The other hand was busy solving complex differential equations while working out a cure for cancer. It's just like that - all work and no fun and games. What a waste. :/ (Edit: After over a half hour of this, the WASD/ctrl/space layout suddenly seems so much easier to use... for those who know what I'm talking about. ![]() This post has been edited by Silverlance on 7th April 2006 05:20 -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

My first playthrough of FFVI i accidently used a phoenix down on the phantom train, which resulted in its immediate death. It was an interesting experience

The first thing I could name off of the top of my head right now is my killing of Velius when I was just about ready to turn it off in utter frustration. All my characters were killed or petrified, littering the ground with Ramza's Agrias's and another character's corpses with Mustadio petrified. Frustrated after so many attempts beforehand, I was about quit, and wait for another day when I heard a swoosh sound; I looked at the screen and Velius screamed his death cry as a lone Lancer crashed down upon the Lucavi Warlock with the finishing blow and I was SO THANKFUL that I didn't push reset, as I must've forgotten about my jumping warrior. Since then, it's almost a rule for me to bring in a Lancer or someone with the Jump ability in that battle. Can't think of any others at the moment.

The first time I ever played FFIV (I was using someone else's save) and I was at Agart. I went to the well, and decided to throw a random thing into it (not knowing what to do). That random thing turned out to be the Magma key, and the whole mountain opened up. Yeah, it really really suprised me. I would have never known what to do since I missed the whole dialog about the key.

Amazingly enough, I just did the exact same thing today..............what are the odds (although my leader was the one petrified and Mustadio died from the two dark holy spells) I love Jump ![]() |

In FFV when I was trying to fight Atomos, He had sucked in all the characters except Bartz, a black mage at the time. However, Bartz had cast Bio earlier and since that has the effect of draining 1 hp every second (at least in the british version of the antholagy), I only had to cast one more Bio and Atomos died.

It was on FFI NES, I barely survived Tiamat ( I just got the Knight and the Black wizard, White Wizard and Red Wizard died in the battle with Tiamat, so I couldn't revive them....), And in the battle with Chaos, after he casted CUR4 on himself , I used the Bane sword special effect with the BlWizard, and guess what? It worked!!! "Poison Smoke. Terminated" . Amazing, huh?
