What do you think the hardest Final Fantasy secret is?
It must be a challenge that is not required to continue the plot. It can be a battle or mini-game or any secret what so ever. I'm sure you know what I mean. My personal opinion is dodging 200 Lighting Bolts in Thunder Plains (FFX). The day I do that is one of the most relieving and greatest day of my life. The challenge probably isn't as hard as others but is just over rated by me... I don't know. |

I heard that it's possible to get the Excalibur II and then go back for the things you have to skip. But, I too am a bit of a perfectionist and if I can't possibly get everything.......it drives me crazy. I really wanted both Odin and Raiden in FFVI........... As for the question at hand, Excalibur II for me as well |

Getting the Excalibur II is not nearly as difficult as you guys are making it out to be. If you use the two-step trick to avoid random battles, skip FMV cutscenes by topping off the PS1, and know exactly the best route to take (there are guides on the subject, I used one), then you can do it with time to spare. When I was on a severe FF IX kick five years ago or so (I literally beat the game four times straight in a row; I sometimes get like the first few months after getting a game a really like) I did it with 13 minutes left on the clock. It might even be possible to do it with as much as an hour left over, but I'm not going back to FF IX anytime soon.
FF games really aren't that difficult at all, but if I had to pick the hardest task in any FF game, I'd have to say beating Penance in the PAL version of FF X. Nemesis gave me enough trouble as is, and now you're telling me that there's a harder one? Goodness. -------------------- |

Excalibur II probably takes the cake for the most tedious thing imaginable in the FF series, imo. (Of the many challenges and things I've heard of.)
I can't really think of anything else, really. There's of course challenges, but even with proper strategies those are still just really tedious, and not impossible. (Resets...><; ) -------------------- |

Excalibur II is hard to get, another insane challenge, if you have extreme patience, time, deligence, is those collaboration towers in X-2, I then find out moments before i am about to finish, after hours of frusteration and such, it isnt needed for 100% completetion

Quote (GamblingCat @ 7th July 2006 16:08) Excalibur II is hard to get I've written this on another thread - if you play the game until 100 hours the timer resets. Thus making this one of the easiest, hardest secrets in an FF game. The sword itself isn't really much fun anyway. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

I think finding Onion equipment in FFIIIj takes the cake.
Or it would if there wasn't a cheap glitchy way of getting them... This post has been edited by ThroneofDravaris on 8th July 2006 12:32 -------------------- |

Mine would be the chocobo racing in FFX to get Tidus' ultimate weapon. In 50+ races, I never even got close to the 0:00. It's the only ultimate weapon that I wasn't ever able to get.
Excalibur II doesn't seem that hard to get, just a waste of time because you may miss many spells, blue magics, weapons, etc. FOREVER. -------------------- Sayonara |

Jump Rope. I am so bent on doing that, and am going nuts for it.
I have everything else, including the Athlete Queen (which was also a pain), so I'm determined to get this to. Omza without the friendly mosters quest would suck, too.
