My favorite is final fantasy 10 because it was my first final fantasy game, i love the battle system, auron is in it, others might not think so but the story is awesome, and finally it has a high detailed version of ifrit (did i mention auron is in it)
My least favorite final fantasy would either be ff13 or ff8 because i got so bored with them i didnt even want to finish either of them This post has been edited by rouge on 18th January 2011 19:50 |

I would say VI on one side, II on the other. And to make this a bit longer than just a one-sentence response, I'll put the first ten games in order of my enjoyment:
VI, IV, IX, V, VII, X, III, VIII, I, II LATE EDIT: Since everyone's mentioning it I should agree that, if Tactics is counted, it would be #2, between VI and IV. FF6 is my favorite and for me the best ff game.
FFXIII followed by FF8 being the 2 worse games in the series for me. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Neil Degrasse Tyson. |

Have we done this topic before? I feel we probably have.
Favorite is Tactics (VI is the very close runner up). Least favorite is II (nothing else comes close). -------------------- |

Quote (rouge @ 18th January 2011 20:50) and finally it has a high detailed version of ifrit The summons in that game were great I'll give it that. I found that summoning Ifrit and then Bahamut in battle was the best way of getting through. I got a real kick out of training Bahamut to make him as strong as possible and fighting the Dark Aeons with him. I really didn't find any of the characters very appealing in battle and in the story. As much as I liked Auron to begin with I thought he did get a bit weaker as the game went on. Kimahri was the one who kept it together for me. Anyway X is my least favourite. Tidus is the worst part, but even looking past him I didn't find any of the others very motivating. The Dark Aeons and Blitzball were my favourite parts of the game. XIII is a close second for being remarkably bad. On a much more positive note, IX and VII are my favourites, with IX winning by a nose. It's such a complete game. Considering how linear it is they do squeeze the very most out of the timeline in the game by showing scenes of what else is going on and also splitting the party up at times. It gives the story a lot of depth. For NPCs, Tantalus and all the others (Cid, Zorn and Thorn, Beatrix et al) were excellent and the main characters all had a lot to offer. The only faults I have with it is the last disc. The ending is good but the endgame doesn't have a lot to do and the story takes a few stupid turns. Having said that I love the final dungeon. My third favourite is XII. This post has been edited by sweetdude on 18th January 2011 23:02 -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Favorite is going to have to still be VII. It has such a special point in my life (was breaking up with a long relationship and needed something to excite me again and FFVII coming out gave me hope). I named my daughter Aeris and my son's middle name is Barret. My only tattoo in life is also from the game.
![]() My least favorite is probably going to be FF X. The hype on the game was unbelievable so I went out and bought it when it came out. After 10 hours of "playing" (when I say playing, I mean 9.95 hours of watching the FMV and 0.05 hours of pushing a button) I ejected the game and sold it. |

Number X is my favorite, though IX comes in a VERY close second. XIII is third, and VII is my fourth. Least favorite? ...Whatever.
(Oh, and I DO think VII is a better game then XIII, I just like XIII more than VII. There's a difference between quality and preference.) -------------------- "When we think there's no hope left, we keep looking until we find some!" - Claire Farron |

My favorite Final Fantasy is Tactics. The storyline was just beautiful and I loved the characters. They managed to do a tremendous time telling a detailed story with well-developed characters without ever having you move the characters around a town or through a dungeon. You were living the story, and they wrote it so well that it managed to work to perfection in a format that I think could've failed pretty easily. The gameplay within the battles was also fantastic and the music was my favorite soundtrack in all of Final Fantasy. If we're only counting numbered FFs, as we were discussing in CoNChat the other day, mine goes back and forth between FF9 and FF6 as two awesome stories.
My least favorite is FF12. I just didn't like anything about it. The characters were grating, I didn't like the story or world, the music all felt like background stuff, and the battle system did NOT click with me at all. The tempo felt way off and I never fell into a groove, leading me to give up like 8-10 hours in. At least I was able to finish FF8. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Best would have to be FFIX. Just the lovable characters, great storyline and the emotional twists the game pulls on you, and it's whole modern yet medieval feeling. Plus the game is fun and it has the odd jokes, but it's so serious at the same time. My most disliked would be FFX. Just the over-dramatics, bad voicing, and not many good characters. The only character I really like in FF X was Auron. -------------------- Currently playing Chrono Trigger !! Currently looking forward to Don't Know. |
