How can this guy and this girl have negative posts? Did they hack the site?

If memory serves they were being twits and trying to get higher post counts by posting things that weren't relevant, were stupid, off topic, or just unneccesary. Since their motive was clear, the punishment was negative post count.

I don't know why, but when I saw them I thought that they might be just tests to see if the system were working, but ZH's explanation sounds a lot more likely
