In my experience, I think Wiegraf is the hardest. I mean, he kills my Ramza in two hits! and then Velius just petrifies the rest of my team.

Why is this in the FF Tactics forum? Is for any video game, or just Tactics? Just Square-Enix games? Whatever.
The hardest boss I've ever fought in a video game is probably Fire Leo from Viewtiful Joe, on Ultra V-Rated difficulty. I've only beaten the game on Adults difficulty, and I've been stuck on Leo in regular V-Rated difficulty for at least two years, with no progress. I can only imagine how hard he is on Ultra V-Rated. The hardest boss I've ever fought in a Square or Enix game is probably Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts on Hard mode. He's pretty tough on Normal difficulty as it is, and I can never kill him fast enough to survive a second run of his instant kill attack on Hard. The hardest boss in FF Tactics is probably Wiegraf / Velius. You can Yell your way to victory if you want to make it really easy, but otherwise it can be quite annoying if your characters are at low levels. -------------------- |

The Wiegraf/Velius battle is a double-header without stops, so that definitely is the only one I can think of that qualifies as "hardest". It's pre-Orlandu, Agrias might barely be strong enough to kill a single Archaic Demon (w/ Rune Blade), and Clops totally massacres everyone if he can get it off. The easy way out is the Rubber Boots/Chameleon Robe equip (never corroborated myself), and Yell/Accumulate which, quite frankly, turns all bosses into Alpo. Having another backed-into-a-corner "Save ____!" battle is salt in the wound, but it's not as difficult since you only need to critically damage someone.

The Chameleon Robe does in fact cause Wiegraf to not Lightning Stab your character (which makes the battle much less painful). But, even with that, Wiegraf/Velius is still the hardest battle |

Agreed on Weigraf/Velius with it being back-to-back and before Ch. 4. So many different strategies on winning this one.
As for other FFs, any boss battles in the NES/SNES games can be very difficult if you're not leveled up well enough to be the particular point, escpecially the final bosses. Ultima Weapon from FF8, Ozma from FFIX, and Yunalesca from FFX get my pick for toughest bosses in addition to Weigraf/Velius. -------------------- "Thought I was dead, eh? If this is for other games too? Leviathan on FFIV!
God dont get me started on that... But as far as tactics goes... Wiegraf / Velius definitely wins this one... I personally never used Yell at this point in the game before, altho it is a good idea, maybe i just didnt have it yet or something, but I would use Accumulated with a Monk and Two Swords. Ah, I still remember the first time i Did this battle, I cant remember what level I was, but i was Seriously Considering Starting the game over from the begining So I could Level up more before I did it lol! I must have gone through the battle about 4 or 5 times before I finally beat it, No other battle in the game Has given me such a Hard time. (with perhaps the only exception being the END of the Deep Dungeon, trying to get brave down, find items, brave up, learn a skill and kill a boss all in the same battle, while keeping a guest alive and killing all other enemies..... thats a mouthful....) -------------------- Quote <FrPhoenix[Around]> "Burgleburgleburgle" |

If you're just going to use yell it'll work regardless, but if you're going for 100% hit rate, why not be a stronger faster class like Monk or Ninja and use Concentrate |

i beg to differ...
the toughest and most frustrating for me is the one with elmdor at the rooftop... well,, provided the fact that i wish to accomplish everything i want in that fight.. as for weigraf... ramza being a monk, i think would be the easiest way... a good starting position.. results in his death in one hit.. peace... |

Nah, I found an easier way...just make Ramza a ninja, give him Speed Break and hit Wiegraf 6 times with it. There's a chance of Ramza dying in the process, but if everything goes smoothly, Wiegraf will NOT attack again for the remainder of the battle.

The rooftop battle at Riovanes... against Celia, Lede and Elmdor. You have to protect Rafa... too bad most of the time you can't even get a turn before her sorry ass is kicked... DAMN! I hate that battle. Took me 19 Game Overs before finally getting a turn for my characters.

I'd have to say Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts 2. I can beat the first one, but man, he's tough.

Basically... No bosses were really hard for me because I always use some little.. not really exploits just some really effective things, for instance, in FFT I make sure everyone has Auto-Potion and sell all healing potions I have but X-Potions, then you get Auto-X-Potion eeeeevery time someone hits. In FF7... we all know the W-summon KoTR and Mime trick. FF8... use the Quez ability to turn Laguna's card in 100 "Hero", get 2 members 1 with "Revive" and one with "Recover" use Heros on them all the time (Hero invuls) and get 100 "Aura" from some island monsters and just use Squalls limit over and over lol with the last weapon. FFX..... get a full grid and the last upgraded weapon with ANY character and it will hit for 99 999 all the time on any monster, plus with all the speed it'll basically get its turn all the time. I'm a leveling ***** I always massively level until it gets way too long and realise I kill anything 1 shot
PS : If you wanna try the Auto-X-Potion thing, make sur all your characters have Squire high enough to have "Accumulate" then leveling Chemist to 400JP (auto-pot) is reaaaaally easy, use Accumulate (boosts attack by 1) until monsters get to you, and you'll hit them for Knight damage Conclusion : Squire... first class, more awesome than a lot of classes This post has been edited by kirzan on 20th April 2006 05:08 |

Yes, I am sure Sephiroth in KH2 must be really challenging... But... Read the two previous posts before yours.. The toughest boss? No, the thoughest battle.. It was at the scene in the beginning when I was trying to do a single ramza challenge, but those supposedly "thieves" killed off Delita and Ramza was very close to death.. I never beaten it =( If anyone beats them with only Ramza, then I'll bow down to you as the FFT Master... But this is rather impossible, really.. Without challenges, and normal playthrough, I'd say Velius was the bastard that wiped out my squadron plenty of times |

Well in FFT even if you level up these Normal Battles (monsters) are still hard as HELL, I leveled up like an idiot just now (Got Sam/Ninja/Time Mage with Haste2/Everyone with auto-potion at Dorter trade city... lol) And I just remembered this fight with red and black chocobos that are the same lvl as you.... oh man that's gonna be nasty, plus Agrias will be soooooo way behind in levels. What have I done

Since it doesn't seem to be specified, I guess Freya on SO3 is pretty hard. Even though I'm only on Galaxy level, I still can't beat her.
In FFIII, the Giant Rat is pretty tough, even with an all-mage party. As was that Two-Headed Dragon. Hargon on DQII was difficult, as was his 'Dark God' that he summons or whatever. As for FFT...well, I didn't get very far on that, so I guess that group of bandits that charm you? I've never gotten any farther than that, so... Edit: Regarding both KH Sephs, I didn't find either ridiculously difficult with the right strategy and knowledge of both of their attack patterns. Yeah, I just noticed that not even the original poster knew what he was doing - he posted a topic in the FFT forum and then promptly doubleposted to talk about a different game.
