Compare these two introductory sentences: Quote (Brewitt-Taylor) Empires wax and wane; states cleave asunder and coalesce. Quote (Moss Roberts) Here begins our tale. The empire, long divided, must unite; long united, must divide. Thus it has ever been. I have both the Brewitt-Taylor 2-volume set and the 4-volume Moss Roberts translation. I actually appreciate the Moss Roberts translation more. The Pinyin is easier to read and the extensive endnotes are most helpful. On the other hand, the (english) wording of the Brewitt-Taylor series is more artistic. The online version is essentially the B-T version with Pinyin writing and extensive notes, essentially the best of both worlds. I have a tough time reading the novel on the PC however, and not enough money to afford all the ink and paper I would need to print out the book myself. Whatever, pick a version, read it, love it.
