well, the friday and saturday events are over, and that just leaves the all-star game later on today. i thought the past couple of days were pretty decent. here are my thoughts on the events that have happened so far, ill add about the all-star game after it happens:
Rookies vs. Sophomores - andre iguodala played like a beast (granted, they were just havin' fun, but he still played like a beast); although not as fun as a couple of the past rook vs soph games, this one was okay Shooting Stars - this was kinda weak, but i really like the concept of it. i just think they should add a couple more teams and an extra round. it was fun to see some of the old school ppl like magic and the glide tho ![]() Skills Competition - well, dwyane wade won it, but i thought chris paul had a good chance at it. when i think about it tho, there are LOTS of players that can complete that course quick. still fun to watch tho ![]() 3-Point Shootout - i honestly thought ray allen was gonna destroy everyone else, and he seemed on his way after the 1st round. dirk really impressed me by winning it, just cuz hes a 7 footer. although its unorthodox for a big man to be shooting 3s, i give the man much props Slam Dunk Competition - okay seriously, this one was pretty good and a lot better than i expected. hakim warrick and josh smith were kinda disappointing but nate robinson and andre iquodala got it done. iguodala's dunk from behind the backboard was pretty freakin sweet, as was his behind the back. nate robinson's over spud was also pretty freakin great. however, i thought andre iguodala had it in the bag. well i guess it coulda gone either way ![]() overall, pretty good so far. hopefully the all-star game will be great too on a side note, i watch the debate the tnt guys had about the greatest dunk of all time. what are your opinions? ive gotta say, if its a game dunk, it HAS to be Vince Carter's dunk over that 7footer in the olympics. if you havent seen it, google the damn thing or sumthin cuz thats just amazing. if its a contest dunk, id have to go with either MJs foul line, MJs leaner, or (i hope i dont get ridiculed for this one) JRich's baseline reverse between the legs. wooo! lol, okay what do you all think? -------------------- "The answer is, of course, that it would be best to be both loved and feared. I agree with you about Carter's dunk in the olympics, but they were just counting contest dunks. I think they made the right call with the leaner. It doesn't look that impressive until you really think about the strength it takes to lean forward in the air and get that far above the rim.
The dunk contest was excellent, but they need to fix the scoring system. The problem with it is they give an average dunk all 9s, so an outstanding dunk (like AI's behind the backboard dunk) only gets 5 points better. The contest should have been over after that one, not even Robinson's through the legs alley-oop could come close to that. The rest of the competitions weren't really that exciting. I flipped back and forth to the olympics through most of it (way to represent Evanston, Shani!) But I'm excited for the game tonight. The NBA and MLB all-star games are the two games I really get excited about. I just hope we get another decent game this year. -------------------- Hip-Hop QOTW: "Yeah, where I'ma start it at, look I'ma part of that Downtown Philly where it's realer than a heart attack It wasn't really that ill until the start of crack Now it's a body caught every night on the Almanac" "Game Theory" The Roots |
