I think in that massive word jumble you mentioned a bunch of a-list celebrities. But i'm not certain. If you cast all those people for a medieval esque movie, I think it would quite easily end up looking like one of the spoofs you see on Mad TV or Saturday Night Live.
I really wouldn't agree with the idea of one, but if I did, i'd go much deeper into the barrel, to find people that match each spot perfectly rather than "Oh that seems like it might work." -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! I would see the FFT movie if:
1) There were no a-list actors in it. Unknowns and classical actors, plz. 2) It was not reduced to a two-/three-hour movie. I'm shootin' for 10+. 3) Not a lot of narrative 4) Events are not changed for the moviegoer (i.e. Orbonne is a casino) 5) Avoid as many LotR similarities as possible, including actor spots -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I'd rather see a series (well, nothing at all, I don't usually like favorite games to be turned into movies and such

I vote no.
There's too much going on in the game itself to possibly be condensed into movie form, between the battles, story arcs and character development, you'd be hard pressed to capture a portion of it into a two hour spot. Also, I don't think that lining up a million and one A-list Hollywood names is a good idea either, in terms of cost, ego and talent. Sure, these actors and actresses might have all had their good movies, but together? You have to have a certain amount of chemistry between your fellow actors to make it believable. Plus, like I said before, cost. Each one of those actors/tresses demand ridiculous fees to act in said films, and considering the amount of money that would be needed to produce costumes, special effects, locations/sets and not to mention, the film rights from Square, you're looking at something well over even LOTR budget. All in all, the game is magical in it's own format and I don't think it'd be suited at all to any cinematic means. A book or comic, maybe. MAYBE. A movie? You're nuts. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Yeah, probably not a FFT movie, but I agree a series would be pretty cool. But please, no Orlando Bloom. God I can't stand that guy. And Nick Carter as Elmdor? What?
Might be fun to make a list of who we think would fit into different roles though. For the playables: Ramza: Ian Somerhalder (meh.. but he fits) Delita: Kerr Smith Ramza's Sister/Ovelia: Kirsten Dunst Agrias: Lucy Lawless (of Xena fame!) Cid/Orlandu: Daniel Craig (the new James Bond) Mustadio: Chris Evans (Hoo boy!!!! va va voom!) Malak: I don't know Rafa: The girl that plays "Neela" on ER, can't remember her real name. Reis: Cate Blanchet Beowulf: Ben Bowder (from Farscape. Hot hot HOT!) Meliadoul: Kiera Knightley For the Guests: Algus: Brad Rowe Gafgarion: Sean Connery Olan: I don't know Teta: Some unknown actress can play her Zalbag: Sean Bean Non-playables: Balbanes: Sean Connery Draclau: Donald Sutherland Dycedarg: Julian MacMahon Funeral: Ian McKellen mmmmm.... that's it for now -------------------- Quote Do you think we're forever? |

It sounds awesme on paper, but you KNOW that Hollywood would create inconsistencies with the storyline for cinema purposes. If FFT fans can take a joke, a parody of this movie could be very funny, but I can't see an untouched remake; look at how they butchered the X-Men. I wouldn't like a Hollywood A-list because that'll overshadow the story WAY too much. A-list actors should be for cameo appearances. I do like Sean Connery as Balbanes, though. Vin Diesel is kinda' a bad actor, but am I the only one that can see Will Ferrel pulling a rabbit out of the hat so to speak and deliver an award-winning serious performance as Weigraf? That would be SO cool! I'd like to see Owen Wilson as someone, but relative unkowns would be perfect for Ramza, Delita, Ovelia, Agrias, and Alma; I probably only say that because those are the top characters. Veteran action stars would have to be cast as the older characters like Orlandu, Funeral, Draclau, just to name a few. Actually, Brad Dourif (Chucky) and the actor who plays Freddy Krueger could voice the Zodiac Braves, don't ya' think?

Quote (Sam @ 15th March 2006 22:00) Nick Carter would be perfect for the role of elmdor. You just made my day. That's hilarious. I'm with DF, there's just too much going on in FFT to be turned into a good movie. I say don't bother b/c it would likely turn out to be crappy |

But didn't you start this thread and state that you actually thought it was a good idea and listed a bunch of actors/tresses to play the various roles? Regardless, why are you taking this so personally? Just because some of us disagree with your choices or with the idea of the movie at all, doesn't mean we hate your thread. It's an interesting idea and if Hollywood wasn't so adept at butchering great stories, a lot more of us would probably agree with you. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

If anything, the better option would be the FFVII route of doing a follow-up movie. Though, honestly, I'd prefer a follow-up game that is FFTA and explains where Ramza and his sis went, or some such thing. Though, at the same time, it's there inexplicable disappearance that adds to the beauty of the game.

Sean Connery as Gafgarion (rofl) omg no way... thats too funny...Balbanes i can see, I'll agree with that, but Gafgarion?
sigh...It appears that I agree with the Majority of you for once. I think its a good "Idea" but thats about it. Whenever my favorite books have been turned into movies or series (with few exceptions such as the Mists of Avalon mini series which i thought had excellent casting) Have fallen utterly short of what I would expect (The Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy for example...) Turing movies into games seems to work better, because there is less to lose in the proccess and so much more that you could add. All in all, If it happend, I would go see it, and yes, maybe it would disappoint me, maybe some of my favorite parts would be skipped or skimmed over faster then i would have liked, maybe id hate the casting or effects. But all in all, i still think that it would be entertaining, and if you think about it, thats all its really ment to do anyway... -------------------- Quote <FrPhoenix[Around]> "Burgleburgleburgle" |

If I had to make a movie about FFT:
1. As was previously mentioned, I'm going to have to make it at least 10 hours long. I mean trying to get all the history, back-story, and what's going on on the side in one movie? Never happen. 2. I'm going to have to change the name. You can't make a movie called "Final Fantasy Tactics". You have to name it something cool like "Ramza Does America". 3. I'd try and make it so that you could "get" the story the first time you watched it. I don't know about you guys, but my first time through FFT, it just seemed like a jumble of names, events, places and doublecrossings. I want first-timers to fall in love the way I came to. 4. I wouldn't have too much emphasis on fighting. I mean maybe on the first disc, I'd have the Zodiac Braves sending the demon back to Hell, but mainly I'd try and incorporate as much as the non-fighting elements as possible. I'd definitely show Ajora making some prophecies, cool stuff like that in the beginning. I'd make extra-special sure to have a Black Mage in full BM get-up in Ramza's crew. Eh, other stuff. I'll put some time in on my log and think about this more. -------------------- You don't scare me, you talking blobs of oozing slop! I am impervious to pain! |
