Why is it that I keep ending up with green chocobos? I mate my S-class Great Female with my A-class Good Male, and get a green one. Then I mate my S-class Great Male with my A-class Good Female, and again get a green chocobo every time. I need a blue chocobo. I'm using carob nuts each time... am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like you're just having bad luck. Are you trying repeatedly by reloading when you don't get what you want?

Yeah, I've reset and tried again about 10 times. I was under the impression that a good male with a great female would breed the opposite colour that a good female mated with a great male would.

Was I not supposed to bring the great ones up to S class?

Bringing them up to S class should increase your chances of getting a special chocobo. If you're consistently getting one color instead of the other, I don't really know what to tell you. Switching the gender of the great/good chocobos is supposed to give you the other color, but, in my experience, the same set of parents can produce both, and it's random.

Is anyone aware of a glitch that might be causing this?

i was with the same problem as you gofy.. and exactly with a blue chocobo (in the PC version) so i entered in some places, then i came back to the farm, and i got it^^ also.. if you are getting only MALES and you want a FEMALE.. try to mate 2 another chocobos, and then mate the 2 you really want.. i needed to do it too..

I've been playing around with it for a while now... I've started getting some blue chocobos (about once every 10 times I reset) but they've all been males, which doesn't help. But at least I'm making progress. Thanks a lot guys, I'll just keep screwing around till I get a blue one I can use.

this may or may not work, but race the A-class chocobo to S-class, and see what you get

Well folks, I was optimistic when I started getting male blue chocobos, but I've been trying for days to get a female one, and I think I'm wearing out my Reset button... I've tried everyone's suggestions; doing other quests, mating other chocobos... maybe I'm just really unlucky...

It's just bad luck.

Why don't you try raising both chocobos to S Class, then it'll be easier.

In fact, i got every chocobo I needed first time! laugh.gif

Out of interest, are there any gameshark/xplorer/xploder code things for ff7? Like infinate stamina for chocobo racing or anything?

I think there might be something for chocobos on the gamesharks for the PS1, but i'm not sure... I can't think of any ways to get female chocobos. Only that you can continue to breed them till you get one or find a female on the plains, though both are difficult and take up time and money.

Well, it's been a month now, and still no blue female chocobo. So, I gotta say, I'm about ready to give up. I really did wanna beat the weapons, although I doubt that'll happen without knights of the round. So, maybe next time I start a new game it'll decide to let me get a blue, and ultimately gold chocobo.

WOW you're unlucky, how about restarting the whole process. Get the chocobos again from Mideel and make sure the four of them are all GREAT chocobos! Are you using the correct nut my good friend?

At least your luckier than me.
I cant even get an Blue one(female or male)
I lost count around 20 and also losing intrest in getting Knights of Round.

They are both S class and I use the Carob nut so that cant be it.

I know how you feel, back when the game was new I couldn't even find the GREAT chocobos, so I wasn't even thinking about getting the green and blue chocobos, once I found the darn GREAT ones, the struggle for colors began!

Great, now that you have the green and blue chocobos the rest is easy, the black chocobo is HARD not to come by the first time you mate Blue and Green!
