Anyone familiar with Legend of mana? huh.gif

I have played, and love that game to death, my favorite part of it had to have been the Forging system, tempering and altering your own items.

I found a recipe to make a bow with over 800 offense power (i used to think the max was 255!) but ive already made one with 790ish offense.

+20 to all stats on all my items (with two Yggdrasil cards each, yes 2, i used to think you could only have one per item {they add massive hp regain}, except the amulet, which only has one because i wanted defense against all status effects on it instead)

and also a set of armor for max def ( 99/99/99/99 bed of thorns, no hp regain)

But what im getting at is, if anyone is familiar with making a ring with the pheonix card in it, so if you die, your automaticly reraised.

Whenever I have used a ring like this before, and died, i come back to life, but the card is removed from the ring, so it only works once.

Im wondering if there is a way, to put more then one pheonix card in the ring, so you can die, two, or even three times?

And also, the required essense levels to make such a ring, I have heard the required essence level for sala is 5, but im not sure if its requires Jinn (3?) or not.

Also, if you have any recipes, that you have come up with, read about, or found to be useful, I might like to see them, as ive had a hard time finding material on forging for this game.

thx biggrin.gif

No. Legend of Mana is sort of a gaiden game to the Seiken Densetsu series for the PS1. I haven't played it, and I've heard mixed feelings about it. CT5Holy obviously is quite a fan of the game.

I loved the game too, though I didn't really fully comprehend the forging system. Like, without going through piles of FAQ and guides on it, how does one discover the properties of certain items in forging aside from trial and error? Like, melding in a 'feather' or a 'vampire wing' to a knife you're making, per se - will it do anything?
I found it vast and promising, but also quite confusing. It's really the only obstacle I've found in the game. Well, all the 'creation' systems sorta' are. The pet training system also seems a bit drawn out - it's pretty simple with 'throw fruits in the box' and such, but it takes sooooo long to get any personality change. Any tips on that?
Golems are fun, though - I was sorta' getting the hang of them in my most recent pass through the game.
Anyhow, feel free to further discuss

On another note, an 800 pwr bow? Kickass, dude.

Well Perigryn, since there are countless items in the game, and most items seem not to have an effect when added to the item your altering at all, unless they have certain essense levels already, or certain cards or whatever, its pretty much trial and error until you figure it out, or you look it up, but like i said, i had problems finding good sites for LoM forging.

( and my bow is only 796 offense power btw =\, after i made it, which i might add, just tempering took 2 hours to just to temper all the items into it, including over 50 sulpher 50 mercury, 72 glow crystals and about 32 chaos crystals amoung other things...)

Anyway, as for pets, the most useful pets i have found have been the following:

The tomato man: demi human pet, the synch for this lil guy adds Flame burst to your attacks, doesnt work agaist bosses, but it can still be useful in no future mode (when everything is level 99) or if your using a weaker weapon.

The polterbox pet, this little dude increases the chances of items droping when your synched with him, a matter of fact, items ALMOST always drop if you are synch'd, which makes it hard to level him up, if he is friendly or lonely or even just synched with you, because exp. crystals wont drop, his synch also increases the rarity of items when they drop, a must have if your looking for Spiny Seeds / Adamentite / Dior wood.

the Lizardon pet, this pet drops Chocolate (Candy to heal you) its useful if your using armor with the "Bed of Thorns" card in it, because if you use armor with Bed of Thorns, it drasticly increases the armors def, but it cancels out all hp regain, including Crouching.

As for leveling pets up, it IS slow, and there isnt much i can say about that, you also need LOTS of fruit, luckily though, you can buy certain kinds of Fruit at the bone fortress later in the game, i suggest using Golden Clovers, you could use mush in the box which is also sold there, but Golden Clovers add just as much luck as the Mush, plus other good status's with no draw backs, so why not use it?

my suggestion is, get to the Jumi city at the end of the game, have it be the last (26th) artifact you put on the bored, maybe even try to get it as far away from your house as you can, and just redo the Golem fight there over and over, it gives out tons of experence, and after you do the quest, the golem is still there as a normal enemy, just put a ring on so you can share experience with your pet, or if your really good with math and your careful, you could have them graze (i preffer taking the pet with me though)

Raising a good pet is time consuming, and personally, i havent noticed that much of a differant between my Lonely Friendly Polterbox, and just a normal one, so in all fairness, i would say, try to use the fruit to increase physical status and dont worry so much about personality, but thats just IMO.

For the receipe of the best bow (DiorWood Sacred bow), the power can get as high as 815, but the thing is that even if yuou have all the items, it to0ok me 5h30 of tempering straight. the best pet possible is the Succubus, with such a beast I can go from 21 to 100% HP in a single hit. IMO The best synchro ever.

I could never understand the tempering system myself, So I had to restrain myself to other's formulas.

I have a trick to get infinite money that I posted of the gamefaqs board, cehck it out if you want to get easy money for tempering, but to get money fast, you need money since the trick as an exponential growth (about 1.8x your money if you loop each time).

Too bad the bow is so weak, I think any other weapon can reach 999 power as well as +20 all stats, when that bow only has +9.

I really ike that game too but it's too easy... even on no future mode, with a good weapon and a minor damage technique you can 1hit kill the alst boss.

Just a little tip: don,t try a fight bare ahnds between two level 99 character

It's almost NEVERENDING. You might try with Gem weapons, which is even worse (2 attack power in general, while bare hands have 6). I don,t even know if you can get any damage with weapons like that even with techniques.

So it's more a matter of compounding cards in forging? As many of the other items does little to effect the growth of the weapon or armour.
I also didn't realize you could do so much to affect your stat bonuses. What I only wish is that you could give equipment to the NPCs.

To that extent, does anyone have a preferred NPC to use? I really like Larc, mostly, though Elazul's not too bad either. Neither is the older mage sister.

As for pets, I need and powerful land dragon too and found him to be quite useful - bitey bitey happy.gif
What is this about a ring that shares exp. with pets? That'd be brilliant instead of hoping the dumb things make for the crystals. To that point, is there a way to share with NPCs?

As for the succubus pet, I had forgotten about her, and im guessing she is most likely the best pet in the game but ive never actually used it, although i have one, im waiting to get good fruit ect to raise it. It's synch effect sounds great to me, but im curious as it if it works with "bed of thorns" armor or not. if anyone knows please tell me.

Perigryn, As for making a ring to share experience, its called a Forbidden ring, and it shares exp with ANYONE in your party, pets OR NPC's biggrin.gif , and you more or less get it, by adding an Ear of Wheat to a ring to get the Fertility Goddess card into a ring, the Fertility Goddess card only has the effect of sharing exp. when its in a ring though.

basicly, lets say each crystal you pick up is worth 1 exp and you pick up 12
at the end of battle it would be divided like this:
You - exp 4
NPC - exp 4
Pet - exp 4

If you only had one person in your party instead of two:
You - exp 6
Other - exp 6

The thing about this is other people can still pick up crystals too, so lets say you have a pet and a npc, and you pick up 9 crystals and your pet picks up 3 of them, it would be divided like this:
You - exp 3
NPC - exp 3
Pet - exp 6

this is a recipe i found on another site to make one, but ive never used it, because you can obtain one from a quest in the game, and thats usually what i do.

Making a Forbidden Ring
-------------------------------

1. Make a ring from a good material (maple wood, platinum, iron, adamantium,
emerald, etc).
2. Add chaos crystals and elemental coins to the ring until Dryad, Undine, and
Wisp are at 6.
3. Add Ear of Wheat to get the Fertility Goddess card.
4. To push the luck up higher, add spiny seeds until the status effects are
+10.

Zodiac pointed out that they found recipes for Weapons with 999 offense and +20 to all stats, ive never been able to get offense or stats this high, or even been able to find a recipe that claims such a thing.

The only way i was able to get +20 stats on armor before was by using spiny seeds to get the Yggdrasil card and a Poison fang to get beast headed god between them, then using meat or dragons blood to pump up the stats until they were +20.

The confusing part to me is, when i make a weapon, i usually finish it off with holy waters and then a giants horn to get 3 cleric cards in the item, or bumpkins and a sharp claw to get clown cards in the item, this seriously boosts the offense power of the weapon.

How can you get +20 stats on a weapon without using the Yggdrasil card? if the stat card is in the item, the offense card isnt hence the lack in attack power.

Ive been able to get either stats or offense but not both, and neither as high as +20 or 999 so if someone has a recipe or a link, please send it to me! blink.gif

And as for your 5h30 of tempering Zodiac, I already noted that i made a Dior wood bow with 796 offense in only 2 hours, and thats with a few breaks, so i guess it all depends on your recipe, or how fast you combine the items happy.gif
