I've recently become entranced with original sound tracks. I've downloaded some from a P2P thing (Yeah, thing), but I couldn't find all the ones I wanted.
I know I could probably get the lot of the OSTs I'm looking for through a site such as Amazon, but my Mother is one of those Mums that dislike such things due to fraud and what not. As of now, I know not of any local "big" music stores that would possibly offer what I'm looking for. Could anyone give me advice on how to track down VG OSTs? -------------------- "I'm racing time as fast as I can, sir!" |

I've been looking for some myself. Just try eBay.com and Amazon.com. That's your best bet. Good luck in the search.

Here is a decent place to start. It's a bit expensive, but it's also how I got my Black Mages CDs (and my CB shirt). I'd recommend scouring ebay and amazon first, because animenation is a mite expensive, but it has worked for me in the past.

If you are actually looking to buy online, which your first posts suggests is not the case, why not buy from GK World through CoN, and make us a couple bucks while you do it?

There's a guy on eBay right now selling soundtrack collections to a bunch of games: Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross together, Xenogears/Xenosaga together, all the Final Fantasy games in various combinations, all the Zelda games, all the Katamari games (which I bought)...
He claims that they're original Japanese releases. I don't really believe that, but they are quality products. I'd guess Hong Kong knockoffs. Either way, the CDs work and the packaging is nice. His user-ID is custom_specialists if you want to see what he still has. Other than online, I've never seen a game soundtrack in a normal music store. You can look for anime-con catalogues; they occasionally have some of the popular video games. Really, though, online trading is safer than some random catalogue. And did you know that buying through amazon's z-shops is guarenteed just like buying from amazon is? If you don't like it, you can return it, and if you don't get it, you don't have to pay for it. I decided to suck it up and go ahead and buy stuff from the Internet.
I took a glace at the websites y'all gave me, laslow and R51, and was quite thrilled by it all (especially by GKWorld!). So, thanks to the two of you. karasuman: I'm afraid I don't understand what this "z-shop" you speak of is... I don't know of any conventions that happen locally; the closest one is probably in Houston (two hours from me), and the one I know for sure near me is in Dallas--but thats an anime convention, so... Yeah. And what I'm a freak for "NEW" stuff. Hehe. -------------------- "I'm racing time as fast as I can, sir!" |

Have you tried getting emulator music format soundtracks from Zophar.net? If you get them, and you record them "back onto" your computer, you can produce WAV files that can be converted to MP3s, and then you can burn the MP3s to CDs. Of course, the quality there might be a bit off compared to "officially" produced CD audio (since it would depend on the music emulating code of various programs/plug-ins), but in general I find it quite satisfactory.
However, if you're "a freak for "NEW" stuff", you might not be able to get some stuff this way. Emulator music formats only exist for NES, SNES, GB/GBC, GBA, N64, PS, PS2, SGen, SMS, GG, C64 (SID), Capcom Q-sound (arcade), and PC Engine (a.k.a. TurboGrafx). (1) They don't yet seem to exist for some newer systems like GCN and XBox, and (2) even for systems with existent formats, some games haven't yet been released as such (for various reasons, ranging from lack of interest (e.g. Felix the Cat for NES) or audio not synthesized but streamed (e.g. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night). If you're really looking to download, there are some websites around that might have what you're looking for, though, plus some other non-website sources. I won't say what they are, but they're there. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing.
