Things that'll be realistically added to FF6:
A new dungeon or two (Lunar Dungeon in FF4-similarities) Bug fixes Thinner text, improved graphics Maybe new spells or skills or espers (maybe) Better dialogue Music/Bestiary thingies Maybe even better weapons (How much better could they get though?) Perhaps a few bonus characters (Perhaps) That'll be about it. FF5 gets new classes, though, apparently... -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. Oh! King Edgar!" - Figaro Castle Inn Attendant |

I'd like a Lunar Ruins sort of thing, for sure. However, I don't think toomuch significance should be placed on them - a sort of trial for each character, but nothing that would reveal/spoil the mystery of each character's past/future. I don't wanna find out about Shadow/Gogo/etc, the beauty of their stories is that they're unanswered.

Notice they list 'enhanced graphics and sound' as the most notable features, unlike the FFV:A Review which goes on to list new jobs and dungeons. Interpret that as you will. -------------------- |

I suppose I haven't posted here yet, heh..
FFVI had so many flaws in the game, but for some reason I still liked the game. I would really love it if FF6's ATB was more speed-reliant like FF5's or FF4's ATB. I always was puzzled on why any character at the very bottom row gets to act first all the way up top for the last one in pre-emptive attacks and I've always wondered why most of the times Edgar's and/or Terra's ATB gauge filled alot more than Locke's in the beginning of each battle even though Locke is the most agile. Sometimes I even saw Edgar's gauge far back from Terra's speed (original speed for all the characters), even though Terra has +3 speed than Edgar. Btw that sucks that they're not caring for FF5's graphics enhancement.. Oh well the graphics were still pretty good. |

No, if you look at the FFV:A review, they state that they will be improving the graphical quality of the game. In fact, if you look at the screenshots, you can see that some minor improvements have indeed been made.

So, do you think they'll give it a re-hauled translation for GBA, or re-use Woosley's script? Personally, I couldn't care either way. Woosley's one-liners =

Quote (Crazyswordsman @ 4th June 2006 17:52) Woolsey is probably Square's most prolific translator, so I hope they don't change it. -CSM Being prolific doesn't make you GOOD, though... I hope they retranslate Pearl... Pearl -> Holy But as for the dialogue, its fine, they don't need to translate it. FF4's translation was quite bad, if I remember correctly, so they decided to throw in a new translation... So, I hope they just change names of certain items and things of the such... and they better not add new items like "Light Curtain" -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. I seem to remember that the US translation tried to hide the fact the Celes tried to kill herself halfway through the game and that Shadow kills himself in the end. I would prefer to see that reverted at the very least.
Also, it will be entertaining to see whether they change 'Crusader' back to 'Jihad'.... This post has been edited by ThroneofDravaris on 5th June 2006 02:28 -------------------- |

I haven't played the game for quite some time, but the dialogue seemed okay to me. Although, that was a long time ago and my expectations were probably not as high as they are now as I've gotten older. If they do decide to re-do it, I hope they'll retain the memorable lines like "son of a submariner" or "he'd slit his mama's throat for a nickle", etc. like they did with the FFIV translation. They totally re-did everything for that game but kept the classic lines like "spoony bard." I think that's the way to go for FFVI as well.

Yeah, although FFVI does have alot of those. Though I'm sure they'll properly display spell/ability names (Holy, etc.) and sprites.

I hope they fix a few typos they made...
Like, on one spell/item, it says "Cures everything but Zonbie," and I always saw that. And at one point, Celes tells the party to "Come one!" -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I'm telling you you're wrong. |

I hope that we get a more accurate translation but keep a few of the classics as pointed out by others already in this thread. However, all these years, I've always thought the line "Son of a submariner!" to be "Son of a bitch!" in my head and that Square changed it because it was too mature for their targeted US audience. I wouldn't, however, mind if they changed it or others. A couple new secret characters would be cool too.

I think I'll merge this with a previous topic since some people are posting about general additions, not just translation.

After thinking about it the only thing I want in FFVIA would be difficulty increasing options. New content like the extra dungeons in FFVIA are nice but not nearly as interesting because you only would do them once or twice given how non-essential and slightly tedious they are. The difficulty options could be like flat changes to damage/hp/xp, and even harder monster scripts.
Changes such as renaming spells/characters/items/GP, introducing new items/weapons, and changing graphics/sound actually disinterest me from buying FFVIA. Those sorts of things are changing what doesn't need to be changed. They are done to pad a list of 'features' for the back of the box. Frankly I'm surprised some people want those things. I grew up playing the original US version and that is the version I want to be the base of FFVIA. This post has been edited by 1stclass on 16th June 2006 19:14 |

I just don't want them to shove in crap like "Lunar Curtain" or "Bomb Fragment" like they did to FF1...
No one uses them in the first place, why would they start using them now? As long as they only add, and not change, however, I'll be interested in buying it. And renaming things like Fenix Down to Pheonix Down is something that wouldn't bother me at all... Atma to Ultima wouldn't bother me... Pearl to Holy would be welcomed... etc, etc... (I know they're going to do this, but, I hope they don't change Tier 2/3 spells to -ara and -aga... I think it sounds like crap) -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. I'd like to see, like many others, a better translation with the preservation of Kekfa's one-liners. I'd also like a few more sidequests and/or minigames. I'd be fine if they reverted the spells to the Japanese names (Firaga rather than Fire3).
The Coliseum is fun as is, but I think something along the lines of the points for prizes system in FF7 might be a good addition. A good challenging dungeon rather than running around the Dino Forest with experience eggs would be nice. As to plot enhancement, I'd like to hear more about Leo/Celes/Kefka/Terra's childhoods/lives pre-Returners in the Empire. It's never really touched on in game. |

Well, there are a lot of things, personally.
The first thing would be a new dungeon (or two). This would be SIMILAR to the Lunar Caves, but not the same, really. It would, however, contain specific-character equips that are debatably their "ultimate" equips. This is because, for example, 4 people can equip the Illumina, etc. And, of course, at the bottom would be none other than CzarDragon...or King Dragon or Dragon King, or something like that. Then, there needs to be some ability tweaking. Even them out more, such as making Lores and Sketch more useful and making Morph and Runic less broken, etc. Then, we'd need a few new Espers. And new spells...somewhere. Plus, we need stat rebalancing, such as making Sabin's magic score high, or at least making his Blitzes use his Physical attack. Fix the bugs, ect. Also, make it available in the extra dungeon to somehow, like by way of Ragnarok Summon, get a lot of cool items (although this would be very very very difficult), such as Cursed Shields, Ragnaroks, Offerings, Gem Boxes, etc. These should be as hard to get as, for example, Adamant Armor in FF4A. Not really feasible but still there. And add in more charcter development. Also, make Umaro suck less. EDIT: And not to offend anyone, but if they use Woolsey's PoS translation I will personally make sure that Square Enix USA shuts down...or something similar. Quote (Sherick @ 23rd January 2006 19:02) CzarDragon would definetely be appreciated by all the FF6 fans. Says you... I hate when they change the classic games. You fight all the dragons to get a summon that damages you as well when you call it. Why change it by adding some souped up boss that people will just Vanish/Doom anyways? -------------------- In order to be politically correct, I am no longer a "White Person," I am a Caucasian-American. |

If so, then don't fight it. That is why it is called OPTIONAL. Some of us though would like to see Czar. Same goes with the other optional bosses and items, those who want it will be thrilled and delighted, those who don't can choose to ignore it.
