Really?! I stopped watching after USC took a 12 pt lead. Well I am glad good to see USC put in their place. Really wished I would have kept watching.

Although I still feel Ohio State at this point in the season is the best team in football. If they were playing like they are now and like they did against Notre Dame, Texas would have never have pulled that come from behind victory on them and USC would do nothing against OSUs defense. Of course that is my opinion and I am, of course, biased but all I have to say is watch out for the Bucks in '06 baby.

That one play did not make or break the game. The Trojans had a 12 point lead and they blew it in the final 5 minutes. Refs make bad calls sometimes, it's just a fact of life. Remember the horrible pass interference non-call in the Miami-OSU Fiesta Bowl couple years back? It was a poor non-call, but the fact remains that Miami lost their own game. The refs didn't lose the game for USC, their defense did. Their questionable coaching did (Honestly, Pete Carroll, 2 times you go for it on 4th and short and come up with squadoosh).

But more importantly, Vince Young did. Human highlight reel everytime you watch him, especially in this game. He can't get enough props for his performance in this game. Rising above all the glory and hype that ESPN crammed down everyone's throat with their premature miniseries essentially saying that this year's USC team was the best of all-time. Bah, a best of all time team would have won that year. ESPN looks pretty dumb now. Anyway, Vince Young just pushed all the right buttons. He had almost 500 total yards of offense by himself, which is downright lunacy. He essentially made some people who elected Reggie Bush--who had less than 100 yards and a TD; good day at the office on an NFL level, mediocre on a college level--the Heisman second-guess themselves.

Anyway, it was a great game to watch. And after this season, I have high hopes for the Irish's title chances for next year. smile.gif

I think, while they did make several questionable calls against USC, Pete Carroll is most to blame for this one. I wasn't really rooting for USC, but I yelled at the TV every time he went for it on 4th down, especially the last one. Time is on your side! Make Young go 95 yards!
That being said, Young might have done it the way he played. Ridonculous. Best individual college performance I've ever seen.

woow that was a very good game! although some calls were questionable for both sides, i believe the right team won. both played great, but not making those two 4th downs kinda hurt usc, but more importantly, they energized texas even more. great game overall tho!

also, i wasnt a huge fan of reggie bush attempted lateral early in the game.....had he kept the ball, im sure usc woulda had the game

This'll definitely be in ESPN's "Instant Classics" video library very, very soon.

I cannot tell you people how glad I am that Texas spanked those SoCal golden boys. laugh.gif

Did you make that Hamedo? It's great!

Despite the fact that it was a great game, I found that I didn't care about the outcome. As much as I hate the hype surrounding USC, I realize that Texas is poised to be in the exact same situation. Especially with the possible return of Vince Young, though I personally doubt that will happen.

I really, really dislike both teams. I was hoping for other reasons that USC would win, though, even though I don't care for either of them.

Being on the east coast and lazy, though, I turned it off before halftime so I could sleep. Looks like the second half was at least more interesting than the first.

there were many questionable calls that landed in texas favor
and as for Vince Young
I'm surprised USC didn't have a guy just go out for young every defensive play, put him on spy annd when young breaks away sack him, but that didn't happen
but USC's biggest failure was how several players made contact with young, but no sack, each time the dove into his hips, very unpractical. the dive took the power out of their hit, and diving in on a guys hips makes no sense as hips are one of the strongest muscle groups on the human body, so basically they took away their own strength and hit into young's. and most important was texas's biggest touchdown where vince young ran it in for all the marbles, it cam as no surprise to me. I would've have put all three linebackers on spy to watch him like a hawk, and when he runs, sack him. but Carroll didn't make that call.

but as much as I say that it still goes in the history books that texas won

You think they honestly didn't? Carroll had an entire month to gameplan and watch tape of Vince Young to come up with a plan to stop him. He couldn't. It's not that there weren't players there, it's that Vince ran right through them, like a smooth machine. He is deceptively fast. Saying it's as easy as "put a linebacker on him to spy, and if he runs he'll get sacked" is really taking away from Young's ability, and I don't think we were watching the same game. Linebackers had shots at him all night, and he blew by them over and over.

I think Vince Young could quite possibly fall into the Steve McNair mold. A running QB that can actually pass I HATE how people are comparing him to Mike Vick and saying that he'll be just like him in the NFL. Not only was he the most efficient passer in the entire NCAA (YES, better than Leinhert), he also blows away Vick and any other former QB in the running game away, and by a wide margin.

I had no allegiance to either team, but by the second half I was all over Young's bandwagon, I couldn't believe how many haters this guy had! Everyone just keeps repeatedly saying he can't pass the ball, which leaves me dumbfounded. Are we watching the same player, are YOU even watching him at all when he passes or how he deals with the blitz? It's like everyone just looks at him and sees a carbon copy of Mike Vick - an epidemic towards all QBs that have the ability to take off nowadays. "What? He can run? Oh, then just blitz him or put the DE's on contain and maybe an LB spy, because that's all you have to do for running QBs."

Sorry guys, but Vince Young is the real deal. He can PASS too. I really hope he goes pro.

By Carrol's own admision he didn't, Tidu_Who.

Carrol said after the game that he wanted his team to play "their" game, not re-create an entirely unfamiliar defense for his team to learn just for one game. He kept USC in thier base zone D all night. I didn't see a single play in the pivotal third quarter where there was a spy on Young.

I can see the reasoning behind Carrol's decision, but it didn't work out to well for him.

Lol, well like I said I don't have any allegience and therefore just watched the game. Being stubborn is a bad trait to have as a head coach...

Anyways, I honestly don't know if it would have helped. Young made their linebackers look like schoolchildren.

those were those bad hits i was talking about they just dove right into his hips, or would try and grab his ankles, that just isn't a real hit. In a real hit they would have cut through him.
also to note the two OLB's were freshman, which partially explains why they didn't sack Young, but it still is no excuse for letting a QB run right through you

Im so happy Texas won the other night! It was a great game, i still think (even though im a Notre Dame fan) that Vince Young will win the Heisman trophy next season, but next season will be interesting.
