Zophar's Domain has the FF4 Hardtype Patch. Look under Translations. The first FF4 one is what you need.

There is also an English HT ROM made by J2E a while back, but meh. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

They didn't make a ROM, they made that very patch. You need to apply it to the original FF4j ROM. ROMs on which this had already been done were well distributed, though.
What does interest me, there, is the existence of an incomplete FF4ET translation. Might be worth playing, for FF4 fanatics, to experience some of the differences first hand. |

Quote (Dark Paladin @ 29th December 2003 21:05) That wasn't it. At the time, video games in America were considered a "Kids thing", so you couldn't very well release a video game that's difficulty level was for teens. At the time, translators had an actual list of things that couldn't be included in video games, because alot of parents would get over-sensitive over certain levels of profanity, sexuality, and religion. I haven't played the Japanese version all the way through (got a bit annoyed with the translation), but from what I read, the changes made were pretty good, and in line with the nature of the game. I think the story is central to the game: it's not monster fighting, with a story to add interest - the monster-fighting serves to make you identify with the characters and to participate in their quest and in the story. There's enough in the US version. (And because of levelling, RPGs cannot be difficult, only more time-consuming.) And what role does profanity play! This is a fairy-tale, suitable for children and adults. It is much deeper than the standard heros vs. bad guys story, particularly in Cain's "posession". But is the story really served by implying immorality in Cecil, as is said is implied in the Japanese version? |

There is no easy, since FFIV isn't at all challenging, even at the normal FFIV from Japan. All Final fantasies are easy, gee I don't know if its because I am a good game player, I hear criticism. Oh yeah what I said in my suspended topic, I didn't mean it at all, I was only pulling your leg.

Hate to sound nitpicky, but the japanese version was on the Super Famicon, not the SNES DP.
![]() Edit so I believe Sephiroth was 'technically' right This post has been edited by KingofFigaro on 9th June 2004 03:40 -------------------- Don't worry, I'm not going to garrote you. |

He worded it as if there was only one SNES/SFam version (the IIus version, and called it ET, which is understandible (calling IIus ET, not saying one version on the SNES)), and they decided to just arbitrarily revamp the PSX version (which isn't even HT). -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Quote (Dark Paladin @ 9th June 2004 05:04) and they decided to just arbitrarily revamp the PSX version (which isn't even HT). There's very little difference between PSX FF4 and FF4j ("HT"), according to the USA/Japan Changes FAQ listed near the bottom of GameFAQs FFC page. Everything else I've read also points to this being almost exactly equivalent to FF4j. I'm not sure how this equates to being "arbitrarily revamped". Merged the version-related posts here from the Dark Matter topic. Apologies for any confusion. This post has been edited by Tiddles on 9th June 2004 09:43 |

Yes I did mean the American version... that's why I said "SNES Version"... sorry for any confusion... and also, I wasn't saying that there weren't five versions, I was just only talking about the two.
