What's everyones favorite smell? I thought this would be a cool idea, and there hadn't seemed to be any other topics like this, so..
Mine would have to be a tie. Pumpkin Pie and Fake Christmas Trees. Pumpkin Pie - Pretty much symbolized Thanksgiving. Since Thanksgiving's coming up pretty soon, I just remembered the sweet aroma of Pumpkin Pie. It's just refreshing, I guess. Spicy. Fake Christmas Trees - Since my family never uses real Christmas Trees (My cats try to eat it), Fake Christmas Tree smell makes me remember Christmas. It's very comforting. -------------------- eh? |

My favourite smell is Coty's Dark Vanilla perfume. It's like a vanilla-jasmine blend.

I'm a big fan of the smell of coffee, as well as petrol, for some reason. There's also this one street in town that always smells sort of like a mix between dried meat and especially strong coffee which I enjoy walking down for that reason alone.

The smell of fresh rain on plantlife, 'specially on fresh-cut grass. The cramped-down, polluted smell of the city makes me miss it quite a bit.

Dish and Laundry soap. I could sniff that stuff for hours. It's like I get high off it or someting.

My all time favourite smell has to be green apple. I'm a huge fan of that smell. One time (when I was still working at the college), my boss gave me an apple and I didn't eat it for three days. I kept rolling the apple around and smelling it. It smelled soooo good. Finally, I was asked "Are you ever going to eat that?". Heh. My current air freshener is green apple scented.

I like the smell of coffee and freshly mowed grass, as others have mentioned, but my absolute favorite smell is the smell of the air right before an afternoon thunderstorm in a Missouri summer. I don't know what it is about it, but I love everything about a thunderstorm - the feeling before, during, and after.

Top 3 smells for me.
3. The smell of outdoors after it rains. I love it! It just makes me happy. To smell the cool breeze, and the wet grass. All of it. It's just great. 2. Most any cooking with Garlic. I like Garlic flavored stuff, but I love how it smells being cooked up. 1. Basic Instinct (scented oil with Pheremons [spelling?]) and "Bath and Body Works" Warm Vanilla Sugar Lotion. It's what my wife wears, and I LOVE how it smells. ![]() ![]() -------------------- "And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped” -Sir Bedevere the Wise |

I like:
Fresh cookies (Bonus if they're butter or sugar cookies Laundry products (I don't know why, but I'll actually pop in the laundry room to smell the fabric softener. Outdoors after rain, especially spring and summer rains, where it's warm and raining. None of this winter chilling to the bone rain crap. Coffee and cinnamon are definitely two of my favourites. And there's also white chocolate and freshly baked bread. And the smell of cellophane. Mmm, plastic-y.

The interior scent of a brand new car. I've loved it for as long as I can remember.

First, food that smells good. I can't really name (and don't really feel like naming) all the foods that I like to smell here, but that's a good summary.
Other than that, unusual smells that I appreciate: Generally, here, it'll be scents that I smelled at particular situations in life, such as the smell of a friend's house, for example, that are related to positive moments in life. Other than as signals of food, I don't have any special attachment to fruity or flowery smells. For example, I find "Wild Strawberry Scent" to be nothing more than a novelty which I can quickly tire of. The only other smell I can think of currently that isn't event- or food-associated is the smell of dilute chlorine, such as that at a swimming pool. It might simply be associated with the idea that I get to go swimming, though. Can't think of any others right now, but I'm pretty sure there are others like this. Edit Oh yes--I love the smell of rain. Hmm... I prefer the smell of burnt flesh, blood, and defeat (all beloning to my enemies) in the morning.

Quote (strikerbolt @ 22nd November 2005 13:02) Hmm... I prefer the smell of burnt flesh, blood, and defeat (all beloning to my enemies) in the morning. Ugh, those smells are on my worst list. (In fact, I think I posted them in another topic sometime ago...). I'll always remember the smell of the crematory next to where my grandpa used to live, and when they'd burn the corpses. It was quite nasty. Blood smells bad when it's been sitting around awhile and not fresh. Oh, and liquid latex that I use in my watercolours smells like rancid blood that's been in a jar for a month. I always have to deal with that smell when I first open the jar. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." "Arthur Philip Dent?" "Yes." I've always loved the smell of Grochery Stores. No joke. Especialy in the bread isles.
I also love the smell of wet mornings outdoors, and my boyfriend. I know, that sounds creepy, but seriously, after he leaves my house, I can smell him everywhere. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

I love the smell of motorboats! I love boating, and the smell of the exhaust is like heaven.
I also love the smell of wet moss. Kind of odd, but it's a very earthy magical smell that's fresh and clean. I find it also can clears stuffiness if left out in a room. Go buy a bag of moss at a pet shop and try it out. I don't think it's for everyone though. -------------------- The first duty in life is to assume a pose, and the second duty is...well, no one's found out yet. |
