well the 360 has been out for a little bit, some people went out and bought the first copies
for me an action like this has always been a no-no (especially for videogame consoles) i've always waited at least one year well i was watching the news and people have been complaining about the 360 breaking down during gameplay, and an error screen and after a few seconds of thinking about it, I remembered how several systems in the past that did get complaints similiar to this first one to come to mind the PS1, i remeber hereing stories about how there were errors with the first batch of consoles (breaking down etc.), next was both the xbox and ps2, although ps2 had a lot less. the xbox started off with a very bad reputation and over the years xbox has gained some ground so like i always do I'm going to wait a few months see what happens with PS3 and revolution, then make my decision although their is one thing i must add, you rarely hear of any nintendo consoles breaking down, as a matter of fact, I've never heard complaints about nintendo, nintendo has a strong trustworthy reputation the only time people ignored this was with the DS (i constantly listened to the opinions of others, most siding with PSP) saying it didn't make any sense, and didnt have good games, while PSP had better graphics and could play video, well after all the dust settled DS has several good games under its belt as well as wireless gaming (which to me proves DS is better) since PSP still doesnt have any real good games, which makes it a portable DVD player with an exceptionally small screen. so I'm going to follow my own advice and wait for the dust to settle, to see what console i should buy (although i'm still leaning towards revolution), i probably wont get any of them until about may what are your thoughts on first year consoles, and what do you think will happen with the xbox 360 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I'm not sure what this topic is asking, but here's an interesting article that might be relevant:

it means the first consoles to be sold off of the assembly line; what are your thoughts about them
this includes the consoles of past and present (i put first year because it generally takes three months to a year before most consoles get their kinks worked out) Edit and the dreamcast xbox 360 comparison is well said, and funny at several points Edit Lazlow it is relevant since it talks about events before it comes off the assembly line This post has been edited by Cloud_Strife510 on 26th November 2005 00:40 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I'll agree with you on waiting for awhile for multiple reasons (bugs in the system, price, the holidays, etc.)
Chances are though, I will probably wait 1/2 a year after the PS3 comes out. Mainly for the same reasons. No, I don't think Im going to get the 360 for awhile, because I haven't seen much change. The PS3 has major change, and leaves room for a lot more. NEI on the Revolution... Quote Is XBox 360 the second coming of the Sega Dreamcast? veeeeery interesting article. I don't trust it on certain key points about it though... A bit off topic: I know someone who went for an all nighter for a 360. Amusingly enough, it was at WAL-MART, so he stayed there until sometime after it opened (6 am). He didn't go to school that day. I made the pun about him "camping the X-Box 360 spawn event" -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

Quote (strikerbolt @ 25th November 2005 20:51) I made the pun about him "camping the X-Box 360 spawn event" Only one person? Heh, sucks for Microsoft. Wasn't there that story of this enormous crowd storming into a store somewhere in France on the night of the debut of the Playstation? Weren't a few people injured by trampling and others resorting to thievery? That said, I should also add that, as someone pointed out, Nintendo's consoles never seem to have had any trouble even after initial release (except possibly the Famicom, whose design is weird, but that's my guess and not supported by evidence I know), and I personally hope it stays that way. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. My thoughts huh? well there are still some good games coming out for the Ps2 so i'm not going to rush to get a Ps3 anytime soon.
As for the other two i've never been much of an xbox fan so i'm not too excited about the Xbox 360. Nintendo i hope has some more mature titles than the gamecube else i'll just ignore the system altogether. So i'll wait for the Ps3 and metal gear solid 4. ![]() -------------------- "You know that feeling you get when you're on a merry go 'round, and you want to jump off to make the spinning stop, but you know it'll suck when you land? I bought my PS2 the day it hit the shelves and it's still going strong. Got my GC early too, never had mechanical problems with it but my sister's de facto inherited it for a lack of stuff I wanna play on there.
PS3 I'll probably wait on just because there's so many PS2 games I want to play yet. Nintendo Revolution will depend a lot on the price point of the system and the pricing structure for accessing old games, as that's probably all I'd use it for. As for XBox 360, well, for all the cries of "evil empire" one has to remember they had the marketing savvy to become an empire in the first place. ![]() This post has been edited by red_beard_neo on 26th November 2005 22:47 -------------------- Wasabi Viniagrette: Mix 1/3 C rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 2 tsp powdered wasabi. Well, for me, I'm among the last to get a console after it first came out, the older I get. I got a Sega Genesis as soon as it hit shelves (as well as some games) and it was last July that I got PS2.So I'm indifferent on first-year consoles, especially considering that price on games and consoles decreases by time.

as many of you know the xbox 360 was a big hit many people wanted it but did any of you know that they sold on ebay 1 month before relase for up to 20,000 dollars. with that kind of poblicity there is no way that this system can go down as one of the worst within 1 year if this system does not sell more than the original then i will be so suprised i will actually sell mine!!!
