Bill Clinton, I say. Very cloudy, he left Ms. Lewinsky's face. The force was strong with that one.

He was the previous leader of the Godly country Iran. He started the peaceful nuclear energy program to help Iran and its people get another alternative source of energy so we don't have to depend on the Gulf state. Iran has its own oil.

He is very religious, beleives in message of the Kur'an and he ran a theocracy, the way it should be. He was fair and was ELECTED by the people, in a democratic election, unlike what you infidels beleive that Iran is not a democracy ...

Fnar Fnar.

My answer is Donald Dewar. He basically pioneered Devolution in Scotland, and he was our first, and best, First Minister. Jack McConnel's played the party line too much, and Henry McLeish was a moron not a minister. Dewar , unfairly, in my opinion was the scapegoat for the Parliament fiasco, but what have we got out of it for the £400 million or so: a building every person in Scotland is using every hour of every day, technically. Compare that to the money spent on the Millenium Dome and Juiblee line extensions. Useless to most of the country.

Dewar was only in charge of the country for a fairly short time before his untimely death, but he's going to go down in history as a good man. The same can no longer be said for Tony Blair.

I'm sure he loves his own. I'm not so sure he loves mine, but that's a different story.

+Alexander the Great
+Julius Caesar
+Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt
+Franklin Delano Roosevelt
+Frederic Chopin

+Jason (last name not cited; he's one of my former TAs)
+Nathan (another one of my TAs)
+Trevor Alan (one of my professors)
+Jessie (one of my friends)

Fictional entities who should be world leaders:

+Bahamut and Ridley: the Dragon-Gods of Light and Darkness, respectively

I'd make one badass world leader. You wanna talk about abuse of power? Man, I'd use tax money to pay for gold-lined underwear and my own amusement park hidden under the white house. I'd have the sercret service build an unstopable robot that would look exactly like me to go out in public, while I'd be chilling at the Mcdonalds in the white-house. I'd abolish any and all laws concerning Parental Warnings, Gun Control, Legal driving and drinking ages and make Pornography the new nation sport.

I'll take a page out of GMH's book.

Favorite historical world leaders
- Abraham Lincoln (best American president ever)
- Henri IV de Navarre
- Pericles
- Tito (for laughs, mostly)

Favorite current world leaders
- No one, really. We live in some very strained times, international relations-wise.

People that need to rule a country
- Mark Warner (Warner-Clark 08!)
- Donald Majeske (my high school government teacher and AP English teacher)
- Larry Sabato (rather legendary UVA politics professor)
- Jacqueline Bello (my senior class president in HS, and I guarantee you will have heard of her in twenty years when she's the Senate majority leader or something)

Fictional entities that should be world leaders
- Odysseus (whether he's fictional or not, he should still actually rule something)
- Peter Wiggin from the Ender series and Shadow parallel series
- Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3
- The Entity from Chrono Trigger (gotta agree with Glenn on this one)

And while I certainly disagree with FF_Ayatollah on his views of "Godliness" and on Bill Clinton (who was probably the best American president of the past forty years), Khatami is probably the best thing that's ever happened to Iran - a reformist president who combines Islamic faith with some liberal ideals. He's a solid leader.

Not really world leaders, but respected in their own rights...

If you don't know who they are, search on WIKIPEDIA!!!

-Pedro Albizus Campos

Puerto Rican who fought for the island's right to be independent, and freed itself from the EVIL hands of the US goverment, unfourtunately, he was imprisioned and used as a human experiment. Radioactive experiments led to his cruel death. He said, "The nation does not belong to the people , but to those who fought and died for it's freedom!" RIP Pedro!

-Fidel Castro, for standing tall against the Empire

-JFK, for the brutal crime against him

-John Paul II, the only pope I ever knew, his legacy will carry on forever!

-Bob Marley, still to this day, his songs of freedom are heard all over the world!

Being a red-blooded and proud American, my favorite world leader would have to be a tie between George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. John F. Kennedy and Thomas Jefferson get honorable mentions.

Hmm... I can't recall Chopin being a world leader (composer - Yes.)
Unless you're saying he led by ways of his composing.

This puts me in mind of quote 485....

But back on topic.
Most world leaders are/were either tyrants, idiots, or jerks.

I really can't tell about Iranian or Scottish leaders, there's not much I get to hear of them...

I can't stand people like Bush, because... let's say that when he said "It's clearly a budget - there are a lot of numbers in it" I lost all hope for him. He's a failure at being daddy's boy and at being a president.

Clinton was amusing. Wrong position for, the presidents office, but he was quite amusing...

Of polish leaders I'd rather not speak, because there' worse dumbasses than any other I've seen.

The Sovie...excuse me...Russia hasn't really changed since communism times. Only switched masks.

People like Saddam? Let me jus say that the previous President Bush should have done this war back in his day.

Historically?

Caesar was pretty much okay.
Drakon was overkill, but his laws were respected.
Alexander the Great was a junkie and sex addict riding on his father's army and trying to compensate for something.

Basically, my idea is, that most world leaders suck, 'cause no normal person would apply for such a post.

Sometimes I think he should be.

Also, SilverMaduin, I meant the list to include not only politically empowered figures, but also other humble people who significantly affected how the world works. Not to mention that that's a partial list.

I was always impressed by Freddy D Roosevelt. Dude brought us through the worst time in the country's history, the oxymoronical Great Depression and WWII while in a frickin wheelchair. For a guy who couldn't use his legs, he certainly kicked some ass.

Currently...hmm... Well, nows not the best time for world leaders.

Does Jesus Christ count?

If not, I have a few runners-up. George Washington, first President of the United States. A stoic man of many virtues and admitted flaws who set countless invaluable precedents for the office and understood the value of his brilliant advisors, Washington was the epitome of the reluctant politician - in my opinion, the only good kind.

I'm also partial to Abraham Lincoln, a clever strategist whose force of will carried the nation through its bloodiest war and his own personal depression.

In terms of pure military leadership, I'll have to vote for Genghis Khan. He now has a reputation for horrid brutality, which is somewhat well-deserved, but he was the foremost military strategist of his time. His unique combination of technology, mobility, and loyalty organized his army into the most powerful in the world, bringing known civilization to its knees and forging the largest land empire in world history. Quite the resumé.

hey dragon_fire, i like your style homie, lol. anyways, FF_Ayatollah, does a leader have to be godly in order to be a great leader? im all for godliness i guess, but im sure one can lead well without being godly or even spiritual or religious. anyways, despite napoleon's obsession for world domination, his rights of man really werent that bad, at least he saw equality in everyone and he tolerated all religions which i think is pretty cool.

i thought Justinian of the byzantine empire was pretty tight since he was one of the 1st to impliment laws thoughout most of the known world. The other leader i like is Empress Irene who came several hundred years after Justinian. she went thru a lot being regent to her son and i admire that....a woman in power before the 1st millenium came to a close is just remarkable if you ask me. smile.gif

Yay- pretending to GM Harvey.

Favorite historical leaders

Teddy Roosevelt With big business these days we sure need another one of him.
Mahatma Ghandi
Martin Luther King Jr.
Peter the Great (Russia)
Attila the Hun For beating back Roman imperialism.

Favorite current world leaders
My butt It's always pointed in the direction that things are going in these days.

People who should be leaders

Jake Authier My friend from college who somehow has the appearance of an eccentric recluse while getting people (some somewhat unsocial) to form groups and be active and open.
Mirvet Muca My Poli.Sci. professor who swears all of the time, is very funny, and is great at explaining things.

Fictional Characters that should be leaders
Hazel Ra From "Watership Down." Bunnies rule!
Rosalind From "As You Like IT." That whole leading in a way that makes you look like you're being led thing is just too novel.
Cid From FFX and FFX2. "The final showdown with Shin. I shay let's get this show on the road!"

I'd say so, and I should have included Jesus of Nazareth myself, since he has been quite an extensive--even extraordinary--influence on so much of civilization. I'm not a Christian (I'm agnostic), but I would say he most definitely counts.

(Whether he as a person had any hint what his influence would be while he was alive is a different story, although that is an interesting point to ponder for those of us who aren't Christians.)

Favorite world leader eh?

I'm probably going to have to go with Jimmy Carter. Initials are JC, worked a miracle, carpenter, loved God and was most cruelly shunned. Sure he wore a sweater, but it was personal responsiblity! If energy cost go up, don't turn on the damnable heater! (Speaking of which, heating oils going to cost more this year...)

Otherwise...

Abe Lincon, the south decided to leave and he just said. "No." Then kicked slavery's ass.

FDR, sure he wasn't attracted to his wife, but he beat Nazis and got the world out of the biggest economic crisis of history.

Bill Clinton, not crazy. And the fact that he could have had sex (or whatever he did) with any woman in the world, but he had sex with Monica Lewinsky instead of spies and Marylin monroe like some other famous world leader.

(I apologize for any profanity or opinion, but it was intentional.)

Fictional:
I'd say Khan Noonien Singh from Star Trek, mainly since Kirk screams "KHAAAAAAAN" when...

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Spock is killed by Khan (I think). Khan was actually the leader of a quarter of the world during the eugenics wars (1991-1996) or somewhere around then (the old star trek episodes)

Kirk is definitely the Cloud Strife of Star Trek tongue.gif.
Khan was such a badass superhuman smile.gif.

Real:
There is no such thing as a world leader, and if there was one, he would suck.
