Well, sometime in the afternoon on Tuesday, I took my computer to a reliable repair shop. They found 8 viruses, all of which were associated with shutting down my internet/firewall/Virus Scan.

That wasn't the big problem.

The big problem was a Trojan, which had to have been hanging around my computer for over 3 months at least, remained undetectable by Virus Scan, and completley messed up my IP, BIG TIME. The trojan allowed a hacker to access the internet through my computer (which explained the random files, including porn, i found on there), thereby shutting me out. My computer was giving me a false IP with very foreign symbols to confuse it further.

What makes this situation so unfair: My friend, who has no virus scan, spybot removal program, or firewall, had over 300 viruses on his system, and still kept all his anime, which has filled up his hard drive to the max with the exception of Microsoft Office, FFXI, and WoW. The only way to fix my system is to wipe the Hard Drive and/or Reload the OS. Tomorrow morning im going to modesto to buy some christmas presents, and a lot of cd-rw's to salvage what programs i can.

So, yeah. I can save some files (Emulators, Roms, RPGMaker programs, pics, MS word files, hopefully all the MIDI's ive downloaded, and I don't know if I can salvage the movie clips [Amnish Paradise, FFXI Dragostea din tei, etc. not actual movies]) All my video games on that cpu, i have to reload and beat again.

Sometimes I really hate my life. Belief in God would have not changed a thing.

That really sucks man. I've lost my system a couple times to things like that and it's just so heartbreaking when you think how much time you've spent dowloading and finding certain files. I hope everything works out for you.

Look on the bright side. At least you know that the hard drive has to be wiped and you can still save some of your files/programs/etc. My hard drive, on this computer alone, was wiped dry TWICE, deleting everything on it, including all my programs (which amount to A LOT), and all my files, including my hack. This happened twice.

On my other computer, the situation was worse. One day it just refused to start up. I finally got it to start in safe mode and ran a virus scan. Well, it before it finished scanning, so I tried again and again and again, freezing each time. Finally it got through one...6k viruses detected. In a single week. The week before, I scanned and it was fine, then the next week, BAM, 6k viruses.

Your situation definitely isn't desriable in any aspect, but it could certainly be worse. Best of luck! thumbup.gif

I can almost feel your pain. My computer has a lot of crap on it, not just stupid stuff, but also viruses and stuff like that. I mean, it take 20 minutes for it to start up!

But this is about you, not me. At least you still can get some stuff back. There's nothing worse then losing the discs for a game then having your computer croak, and then have to buy the game again.

But as Ceasar said, least you know it's going to be clean when you wipe it. You can put all those virus/crap protection stuff on it, also the fact you can salvage some stuff means you've got some karma working for you or something like that.

Keep your head up, I guess.

So if you're done reading this, you know I have nothing to say and you've wasted your time. Thank you come again.

It's sad that people get a kick out of sending those viruses.

But at least you can get your stuff back.

Well, I have worse news. sad.gif

I got my computer back today. They couldn't solve the problem (the guy commented it was pissing him off lol) The only option was to wipe it. I got a memory stick, but could fit only roughly 512 MB of stuff on it. All my anime, most of my music and pictures, gone. I didn't get charged for it because they couldn't fix it. thumbup.gif I took it home and began the process myself.

I feel like as if I just took my favorite pet that I knew for most of my life, took it out back and put it out of its misery because it was suffering...

Luckily some of the stuff I can get from my friends computers and the CPU repair guy gave me some pointers, but still...

I should be online on my own computer in a few days. Thanks for the support...
