Seems like everyone obsesses with Ramza's setup. Curious how other people play Mustard Boy, since a search of the forum turns up 3 hits. wink.gif
Edit
Okay...3 hits in the past month. Why the search doesn't default to "since the beginning" is beyond me.

My current setup:

97Br / 84Fa

Blast Gun
---
Thief Hat
Black Robe
Bracer

Mechanic
Battle Skill
Auto Potion
Attack UP
Move+2

High faith and Black Robe to increase the damage of the magic gun, Thief Hat for speed (increases Snipe accuracy), Bracer for PA (increases Battle Skill accuracy), and Attack UP boosts the accuracy of both Snipe and Battle Skill. And Move+2? Because I'm too #$&%ing lazy to train him as a Bard. biggrin.gif

I used

Blast Gun
Theif Hat
Robe Of Lords or Power Sleeve depending on if Ramza's using it
Germinas Boots

Mechanic
Math Skill
Blade Grasp
Concentrate
Move + 3

This way he gets 97 br / 84 fa
move +7 or 8 i forget
jump +4 or 5 i forget

With the robe of lords he's got protect and shell so it halves everything already and with math skill he can heal himself if needed with no ct involved.

Cloud_Strife510: Interesting that you don't find the Snipe skills useful enough to keep. To each his own. biggrin.gif Have you considered Attack UP instead of 2 Hands? This would let you use a shield, and benefits both your Steal success (important since Lancers have mediocre Speed) and your regular attack damage (though sadly, neither improves Jump damage).

kamuirsx: Guns can't be evaded except by Blade Grasp, and the Snipe skill similarly isn't affected by Evade -- Concentrate isn't doing you any good. With the high Faith and two magical attacks (Blast Gun and Math Skill), I'd really recommend Magic AttackUP. Also, since your setup can strike from anywhere on the field, the protection of the Robe of Lords seems like overkill (and the Power Sleeve adds AT, which doesn't help any of your skills). My personal choice would be Flash Hat, Black Robe, and Red Shoes to further boost MA (for Math Skill) and elemental damage (for both Math Skill and the Blast Gun).

Interesting stuff, all, looking forward to seeing other unique setups. thumbup.gif

Actually, I'm not surprised that he doesn't have Snipe equipped, considering that many enemies late in the game have DA/DM cancelling equipment. I have Snipe on simply b/c I think the special characters should keep their special jobs

His Brave and Faith I don't spend too much time worrying on as oppsoed to the other characters. Job: Engineer

R. Hand: One of the spell guns
L. Hand: Aegis Sheild
Head: Theif Hat
Body: Power Sleeve or Black Robe
Accessory: Sprint Shoes

Snipe
Battle Skill
Auto-Potion
Equip Sheild
Either a movement boost or Move HP-Up

The Spell Guns are a no-brainer. Magic defense is necessary and since I give the higher-powered sheilds to other characters, the Aegis Sheild is a GREAT magic-defender for the gun-man. The Theif Hat is a huge reason why his support is Equip Sheild and not Equip Armor. The Black Robe is equipped for more increased non-magic elemental damage. Speed is a necessarily high attribute for rangers, and since his inherent speed is very high (if not the highest class-grown speed), the Theif Hat and Sprint Shoes are a great combo! Battle Skill is an awesome secondary for a gun and I give him Auto-Potion and Move HP-Up for not having to use a turn for healing. Sometimes, I'll substitute Move HP-Up for Move + 2 or 3 if I'm not too lazy to level up the Bard class. His Guns, Snipe, Speed with Battle Skill make one of my most useful and powerful characters throughout the game, and not just specific parts.

True, but usually it's one or the other they're immune to, Defense Armlet is the only common item to immunize against both. And it's always useful against monsters.

Mustadio's Mechanic stats aren't impressive. I keep him as a Mechanic because neither Chemists nor Mediators have better stats, and a Knight with Equip Gun can't also use Attack UP. I've actually got Ramza and Rafa both as Ninjas without their original job, Agrias as a Monk with Equip Sword for her special, and Malak as a Knight with equips to boost MA for his special, but Mustard Boy just works out better for me as a Mechanic.

I can't really remember everything, as I am now longer in possession of a Playstation and cannot play the game, but here's what I've got so far.

I typically keep Mustadio's Brave and faith the same. As for everything else, here's what I remember:

Items

Defense Ring (kept it on after the battle with Queklain; I dunno why)
Winged Shoes (I forgot what these are really called... you know, the ones that cast Float on the wearer?)

Abilities
Snipe
Item
Gained JP Up

I think that's it.

If only you could use two handed with guns, it would have been sweet (Mustadio matrix style). I made him a Lancer, with Snipe and Jump, almost 0 faith (he was an athiest) and gave him about 70 brave until I got tired and just beat the game.

Actually favorite character is probably the Temple Knight, Shock is an attack of its time (and General Leo from FF6 was also able to use Shock). Anyone see a resemblance?

I never really liked Mustadio, so on my latest play through I've given him a little more attention.

What I found is that the success rate of snipe seems to be related to his speed rating. So, my favorite Mustadio is:

Ninja
Snipe
Speed Save
Concentrate/DefendUP/AttackUP
Thief Hat
Sprint Shoes

The drawback of this one is low hitpoints and no good ways to defend himself.

I also like this one:

Monk
Snipe
Speed Save
Two Swords
Sprint Shoes

Both are risky without decent support, though. Brave is 80ish and I increase it when I can, to maximize his chance of speed increases when hit.
